Chapter 19

Ava I had this ridiculous smile on my face all day, when thinking about Nigel. We had spent all of Sunday morning and afternoon in bed till he had to go and get Kayla. The three of us then went to get dinner at McDonalds, I even joined her in the play room despite it being for children 3-10 years old. No one said anything about my playing around like a toddler besides asking for autographs and selfies, being a celebrity sure had its perks. Today was Monday afternoon and I was at the bridal shop with Jen, Aunt Amelia, Melanie as well as Jen's bridesmaids Zoe and Lexi. The two mothers were being very picky and somewhat dictator-ish but Jen handled it really well. "What are you smiling about?" Jen asked as she fit on her twentieth dress of the day. She hadn't found one she liked yet. Aunt Amelia and Melanie weren't helping with their constant badgering and insisting that each dress she tried on was nice. “Nothing.” I shook my head coming out of the Nigel haze that I was in. "So ... I read somewhere that you and my son are getting pretty serious." Melanie told me nonchalantly as she sat with a copy of US Weekly. All eyes shot to me and I replied, "I guess you could say so." then noticed the stink eye that Lexi was giving me. I refrained from scowling at her, the girl had been going on and on about Nigel since I had gotten here, apparently she has had a huge crush on him. "Oh... So a wedding in the near future?" Melanie asked and my eyes widened, I could actually see it in my head, me walking down the aisle in a big poofy white dress while Nigel shed a few tears at the sight of me. Aunt Amelia laughed and shook her head. "Oh shush Melanie, you're scaring the poor child." Melanie smirked, her eyes still not leaving the magazine in front of her. "It was an innocent question. I mean judging by these photos one would assume that it was heading towards marriage, I mean look at how they're looking at each other, nothing but love shining in their eyes." She then flashed the magazine towards us and there was at least five photos of Nigel and me around town. Him kissing me, hugging me or me clinging to him with a huge smile on my face. The other one was bigger than the rest, it was a photo of Nigel, Kayla and I at McDonalds yesterday and of when I carried her at the grocery store a few days ago. I blushed and Melanie had a pretty satisfied look on her face. The attention shifted back to Jen as she tried on more dresses, she looked absolutely beautiful in each one of them but I wisely kept it to myself since she hated all of them. Zoe and Lexi finally came to a decision about their bridesmaid dresses, they were blush pink floor length Grecian dresses while mine was the same colour and length but with a halter finish. My phone rang and I saw that it was Nigel calling and I turned away from the excited women as they waited for Jen to come out of the dressing room in yet another gown. "Hey you" I answered. "Ava!" Kayla's little voice came through the speaker and I snickered, she had begun going through Nigel's phone a lot lately and started calling random people. She called me a lot because Nigel had assigned a ridiculous photo of me to my number in his phone. "Hey sweetie. What are you doing?" I said sweetly to her and I listened as she told me that she was sitting watching TV while her dad and Uncle Nick were talking. She then started telling me about the TV show she was watching and how the cat wanted to eat the mouse and was chasing him around the house. I listened attentively as she rambled on and added a few thoughts of my own to show interest. I had a huge smile on my face at hearing her talking, in the short time that I've known little Kayla, I've grown attached to the sweet little girl, "Kayla! What are you doing on my phone?" I heard Nick saying in the background. "Uh-oh" she said then whispered a “'bye’' and quickly hung up, I let out a laugh as I stared down at my phone. "Oh my gosh!" Zoe gasped loudly and my head snapped up as we all looked to see what had her gasping like that and the sight before me sent a wide grin spreading across my face. "You look beautiful." Aunt Amelia said to her daughter, tears shining in her eyes. Jen grinned and twirled in front of the mirror, "It's nice isn't it?" she asked shyly looking at us for approval. We all nodded and Melanie said out loud, "I love it" Jen grinned and twirled around in her dress. It was a floor length white dress with long sleeves and an open back and lace. It was gorgeous, she was gorgeous. After parading around in it for ten more minutes, Jen finally took it off then we paid for the dresses and left the shop. "I just got a text from Nick saying he and Nigel want to have dinner at Mexicana." Jen said. "Oooh great, I've been craving their enchiladas lately." I said and we climbed into her car driving off to the restaurant with my mouth watering, already tasting that delicious foods.
