Desmond ღ The ray of lights caught my attention in the corner of the classroom all by herself— my world was black and white but for the first time I could see the colours. She shun brightly as she was in her own world, as if a magnetic force was pulling me close to her, my feet began to make there way towards her as I ignore the colourless lives that were before me— only keeping my eyes gaze upon her. I sat beside down observing her— she had big brown eyes, brown skin with freckles, wild curly hair— her features were very beautiful and mesmerizing. How was it the first time I'm seeing her? Is she new? Even though sparking up a conversation with her was quite impossible as she had a sharp tongue that I found cute. Now here she was in my car as we drive to school together, this was quite the progress so far. The tension was thick as a skull in the car neither of us spoke a word until I broke the silence, "When you graduate what are your dreams sunflower?" She seemed to hesitate for a moment before replying, "I wanna move away from this country, start a new life, how about you?" Avery turns to look at me for a split second before focusing on the road once again. "I've never thought about it much— I just go where the wind blows," I answered. A loud gurgling sound appeared as I looked at Avery, her cheeks were flushed red. "I'm stopping at the small café down the road, is there anything you need?" I looked at her for a response. "Just a small cup of coffee and a hot dog would be fine," she replied. She shuffled through her bag and took out the purse. "It's okay, breakfast is on me sunflower," I chuckled softly. "Well, um, thanks I guess," she replied. I parked parked the car along the sidewalk before leaving her to grab the food— we had approximately 15 minutes to reach school. ღ I opened the car door as Avery flinched, "Avery are you okay?" I questioned. I raised my eye brows as her entire demeanor changed. "Yeah, I'm fine, just cold," she replied. We had roughly five minutes to reach school I hurriedly drank my coffee and ate the hotdog whilst Avery was nowhere ready to be finished. I could see the school building from where we were, cars and buses caused traffic as students were shouting, and hugging each other. Pathetic much! I internally cringed at the students and how touchy they are— Personal space was not in their vocabulary. As I drove closer to go onto the school compound, I could see a banner that read: Annual Parent's Day. Boston High School was a traditional school. Students who came to this school had to have high averages and excellent grades or money to buy their way into the school even though it was a public school— so status didn't matter as long as you had the qualifications. "Avery, why do you look as if you're constipated," I asked. She rolled her eyes and sighed, "Look I'm not constipated, don't you know the difference between a frown and a constipated look?" I laughed, "Calm down tiger, it looks to me you wanted to use the bathroom, that's a number two face you made, not a frown." She sent me a death glare, it was then her wrist caught my attention— her eyes seemed to followed mine as she now looked at her own wrist before her eyes widen, "What happened to your wrist Avery?" Anger seeped through my veins as the monster inside me wanted to take over— that monster was another personality that even myself was afraid of. It lurked inside of me waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. My hand was balled into a fist as my nails tugged into the palm of my flesh drawing blood before I did something stupid. "I scratched myself accidentally with my sharp nails," she lied. It was all a lie, her nails weren't that sharp to cause such a wound. I knew these signs all too well, someone did it to her yet she lied. I gripped the steering wheel as it was best not to continue the conversation. "I'll park here you can go right ahead," I said in a nonchalant tone. Even if she didn't tell me who did it to her, I'll find out. After stepping into detention yesterday, she was acting weird— my only conclusion is that Aaron did it.
