Goodbyes

*After the ceremony* I entered my home for the last time as my mother followed behind me. The photos on the walls, displaying me and my sister playing together, perfectly posed family photos, and one of my father tossing me into the air when I was small. I stared at that last photo for what felt like forever as my mother rubbed my back. “He loves you Arya,” She said. “Then why isn't he here?” She sighs, moving away from me and removing the frame from the wall, before handing it to me. “He's stubborn, you know you were always his favorite” She said smiling at the photo now in my hands. “I thought parents weren't supposed to have favorites” “Oh no honey, that's just a lie we tell the least favorites” She says with a small smile. “Your father and you were always two peas in a pod, you know. I remember when you were about seven and Kristina was five. She had come running inside crying because you were rolling around in the mud with your father's wolf and got a spot on her new dress.” I rolled my eyes, Kristina was always such a princess. “What does that prove?” “There's something you should know about wolves, Arya”, She said, grabbing my hands. “Your fathers wolf would have known you weren't his.” “What do you mean?” I asked her, confused. “Wolves can recognize their own blood. His wolf Brax would have recognized instantly you weren't his own but he still accepted you, Arya.” “He knew?” “I don't think your father knew. For whatever reason, Brax kept it a secret from him.” “But why would he do that?” “Probably the same reason I did, out of fear he would reject you.” The front door opens and my dad walks in. “I would never reject you.” My father says before swooping me in for a hug. I cried into his shoulder for a bit before he pulled away and wiped my tears for me. “I didn't mean to be so distant. I thought I would have more time. I didn't think that boy playing Alpha would do such a thing.” “Herold! You cant disrespect the Alpha in that way” My mom snaps, smacking his arm. “He’s an i***t, Molly, I won't stand by and watch him run this pack into the ground” he tells her. “What are you saying dad?” “We will come with you” he tells me, looking determined. I play it through my head. It would be amazing to have them with me. But then I remember the most important part. Kristina. She was pregnant with their future grandchild. I couldn't allow them to walk out on the baby. I shook my head at him. “You have to stay for Kristina” “Oh, that girl! How could she do such a thing! We raised her better than that!” My mom shouts, throwing her arms in the air. “Whatever she has done. That baby is innocent and needs its grandparents. I will be fine on my own,” I assured them. My dad nods his head, giving in. As he pulls an envelope out of his blazer and gives it to me. “It's all I could get on such short notice, but it should be enough for a few months.” I looked inside the envelope to see a few thousand dollars in assorted bills. “I can't take this dad” I said, trying to give the envelope back. “Arya, just take it honey. Your dad and I will be fine without it” she assured me. I thanked them, before heading upstairs to start packing my most important belongings. A few hours later I stared into the rear view mirror to see my mother and father waving goodbye to me as warriors stood next to them, ensuring I left my home on time. I let out a sigh and fresh tears started to form again. I blink them away quickly, not allowing myself to hurt anymore. Turning back to the road, I caught a glimpse of myself. My tangled light brown hair is thrown into a messy bun and my green eyes are still red and puffy from crying. My skin is pale, probably from the lack of sleep, since I had stayed up all night packing as many belongings as I could in my Toyota Camry. I got to the edge of the pack lands and stopped the car. Expecting to feel my ties with the pack break but nothing came. I shook it off to the fact that im wolf less and pulled out directions to the Lycan Kingdom. My dad told me he had a sister who lived in the Lycan territory that I could stay with until I got settled somewhere. It was a four hour drive away and I was already exhausted. I took a big gulp of coffee out of my thermos and put the car back into drive. "Lycan Kingdom, here I come."
