The maid appeared at the door.  She saw Elizabeth’s tear-stained face and the king’s inert body on the bed … she understood the situation immediately.  “I am so sorry, ma’am … he was a very good man,” she said as she bowed her head.    “Thank you,” Elizabeth responded, her voice still strained with emotion.  “Please summon the royal physician to take care of the father.  I will inform the castle administration to prepare for the funeral … and I need to find my brother,” she added; the last sentence was tinged with the anger she was barely holding back.   Daniel was nowhere to be found.  She finally bumped into his manservant.  “Where is my brother?” she asked.    “I beg your pardon, ma’am.  Your brother is at the games … he will be back in about an hour,” the man replied, bowing hi
