Elizabeth had requested that James arrange to rent a room close to his when she had met with him late the previous night to discuss that she would be leaving the castle. James had been watching for her arrival and met her at the rear door. He picked up her bags and escorted her through the hall to the room he had reserved. “Glad to see that you made it OK.
