105 Seth and Isaac
For the balance of the day, Seth and Isaac walked about in a daze and were very dispirited. They did not touch their mid-day meal. Later that same afternoon, Merrill Jarvis showed up at their cell to discuss how they wished him to defend their charges. They hardly took notice of him. He tried repeatedly to communicate but to no avail. The jailers who had brought Merrill down to see his clients just shook their heads. “They have been like that since this morning,” one of them offered.
