20 Stephen rolled over in bed with a groan. Maybe the weekend should start early. He still smelled like a campfire and the sock he’d worn with his boot was now in the garbage. He hadn’t said anything because he hadn’t wanted Zoe to worry about him, or worse, insist on returning early, but it was covered in all sorts of things whose only purpose was to cause pain.
