Chapter 14 Choice

698 Words
The black cloth that had concealed her vision was ripped away, and Gabriel saw spotted Caleb and Dominic standing a few hundred miles away. She looked at Caleb with cold eyes, seemingly devoid of hope. But when she turned her gaze to Dominic, her eyes were rather soft.   If Caleb didn't save her, Dominic would. That was what she was thinking.   Their gazes locked in the air, leaving Caleb feeling unsettled.   “Caleb, help me!” Jasmine also saw Caleb and struggled to get closer, but the kidnapper held her tight.   Jasmine's cry shook Caleb from his trance. Something bad was coming.   Forcing himself to remain calm, Caleb said, “I brought the money for you, now let them go!”   Caleb opened the black leather case, revealing it filled with banknotes.   Greed shone in the kidnappers’ eyes upon seeing the money. The leader cleared his throat, “Mr. Williams, I don't think you got what I said. I meant one person is worth 100 million.”   “Are you raising the price?”   “A mere 100 million for a woman is a bargain. You have a lot of money.”   “It's late now, and the banks are closed. If you want more money, let them go, and I'll get it for you tomorrow.”   “I’m afraid that do not work for us. Maybe you’ll call the police when you leave.” The kidnapper pondered for a moment and said, “If you give me100 million, you can pick one of them and leave.”   “Caleb, save me! I'm scared. Help me.”   “Caleb, pick Gabriel. Don't forget that she is carrying your child!” Dominic reached out to grab the box, afraid that Caleb might choose Jasmine.   “Hurry up, you don't have much time.” The kidnapper asked Gabriel and Jasmine to turn around, showing the timers strapped to their backs. “They have bombs attached. When the time's up, one of them will be killed.”   “Help me, I don't want to die! Caleb, my sister is gone, and if something happens to me, what do you think my parents will do? If it wasn’t for Gaberiel, my sister Isabella would still be alive.” Dominic wanted to grab the money to save Gabriel, but when he heard the word “bomb”, he became even more anxious and ready to act. “Caleb! Gabriel is your wife! What are you thinking? Hurry up and save her!”   If Caleb had known the kidnappers would demand so much money, he would have sold everything to save Gabriel.   “Caleb, I don't want to die, I don't want to die.” Jasmine's cry trembled in the sea breeze, sounding desolate.   Caleb was disturbed by Jasmine's crying. He asked Dominic in a low voice, “Doctor Cooper, will you save Gabriel?”   Dominic grabbed his collar, “What do you mean? You bastard. Are you going to save Jasmine?”   “I'll save Jasmine, and you help Gabriel. This is the only way to rescue them both.” Caleb gritted his teeth. “We have no time, please, we must save them before the bombs explode.”   He rushed towards Jasmine with the cash box.   “Crap! The police are here! They called the police! We need to leave now.” The kidnappers took the cash from Caleb, boarded the speedboat that had already been there, and left in haste.   The timer started beeping.   Dominic paid little attention to the kidnappers and hurried to Gabriel.   With only 20 seconds left, Caleb struggled to untie the rope on Jasmine's ahnds and pulled her out of the warehouse.   Dominic also freed Gabriel. They ran so fast that Gabriel stumbled and twisted her ankle badly.   Dominic tried to help her up, but Gabriel pushed him away, “Dominic, run! Run away!”   “No, we'll go together.”   “There's no time, run away now!” Gabriel used all her energy and pushed him away.   Dominic watched helplessly as Gabriel fell back. Her expression was strangely relieved.   Boom—   The sound of the explosion, accompanied by red flames, painted the entire sky crimson.
