"My child?" Dominic stood up and pushed away Caleb who was blocking him. “I didn’t have s*x with her. That was yours.”
Caleb's mind felt like it had exploded.
“Dominic, I never thought you are better at lying.”
“I’m lying? Are you afraid? Afraid that the child might be mine? Oh, I really wish it were.”
“Caleb, you truly don't deserve to marry Gabriel! You led her to my bed, and now you're sending her for an abortion? Caleb, that's your child! Nothing happened that night. The child is yours!” Dominic pushed him away and rushed into the operating room.
Caleb soon regained his senses and followed Dominic into the operating room.
It was a mess in the room, and there was no one, including Jasmine.
When Gabriel woke up, she found herself tied to a chair, unable to move. Her eyes were blindfolded, and she could smell the dampness in the air.
This was not a hospital. Where was she?
“Are you awake?” It was Jasmine's voice.
“Jasmine?” Gabriel struggled, trying to untie the ropes on her hands. “What are you doing? Let me go!”
“I can't help you. I'm tied up too,” Jasmine replied drowsily.
“Tied up?” Gabriel had given up on struggling since the ropes were tight. She couldn't understand why Jasmine said she was tied up too.
“Show me her eyes,” Jasmine ordered someone.
The cloth covering Gabriel's eyes was pulled off, and she saw Jasmine who was also tied to a chair.
“What game are you playing now?”
“Isn't it obvious? We've both been kidn*pped. Caleb will come to save us. Or rather, he'll come to save me,” Jasmine corrected.
Gabriel's heartbeat became faster. She was not going to argue about that. Even if Jasmine hadn’t said anything, she knew who Caleb would save.
“Jasmine, Caleb and I are divorced, and I have nothing to do with him. You like him and I'll step back. There's no need to prove his love for you in this way,” Gabriel pleaded, trying to convince Jasmine to give up her crazy plan.
“You didn't understand. There's a saying you should have heard: To cut the weeds, you must get rid of the roots.”
“You're completely mad!”
“Well, you know too many of my secrets. This is the only way.” Jasmine asked someone to cover their eyes again with a piece of cloth.
Gabriel's eyes were blindfolded once more. In the darkness, she smiled bitterly. She knew Jasmine had no intention of letting her go. She thought of the child in her womb and whispered to it in her heart:
Baby, I'm sorry that you have no chance to see this world. I'm sorry, your father may have to give up on us.
Don't be afraid. I'll be with you. In the next life, you'll still be my baby, okay?
Meanwhile, Caleb received a call from the kidnappers demanding a ransom of 100 million dollars. They warned against involving the police, or else they'd harm the hostages.
Caleb was shocked, but he forced himself to calm down. He asked his assistant to prepare the ransom as soon as possible.
Dominic found the whole thing strange. If it were only Gabriel being kidn*pped, it might have been a simple money-driven scheme.
But it was odd that Jasmine was also kidn*pped.
Saving the two girls was the top priority, and Dominic decided not to share his concerns with Caleb for now.
The agreed place to save the two of them was an abandoned warehouse at the port. It was already eleven in the evening, with the sea breeze blowing fiercely.
When the kidnappers saw Caleb and Dominic, they seemed annoyed and aimed their guns at Caleb. “I told you to come alone.”
“My friend had a few drinks. To ensure that you get the money safely, I drove him here. Don't worry. It's just the two of us,” Dominic raised his hands, showing they were unarmed.
Caleb did have a few drinks. His eyes were red, but he could handle alcohol well. He would not be drunk after drinking a little wine.
The kidnappers didn't suspect anything when they smell the alcohol. They brought Gabriel and Jasmine to the scene.
