Chapter 15

It's quiet and eveyone is sleeping except for me, Charles and Daniel. Cameron is sleeping on my shoulder while Charles is looking at me because he is in my front while Daniel is just laying on the floor like he is thinking something.

You know, I can't just control things with my mind but I can sense if people are lying or saying the truth, that's why I know that everything that Allyssa said isn't a lie at all. It's not a power, it is just a common sense like everyone had.

I miss being on a phone, it's been a while without using any gadgets. That feeling just came out of nowhere it is because everytime I'm bored I use my phone. Charles stand and walk towards me. He sat down on my side.

"Why are you avoiding me?" He asks. "Why aren't you sleeping? You said that you are tired." I ask him back. "Because i can't sleep." He explain. Yeah, lie. He is tired I can see it in his eyes. "Did you know that your eyes is red earlier when you are mad?" He ask. I look to him with a confuse face.

Red eye? Is that even possible?

"Everytime you use your power your eyes turns to red, but sometimes blue. I don't undersrand why." He said. "Why'd you lie?" I ask him straight to the point. I don't care if my eyes turn into different color, i think it's rare and that's good isn't it?

"I just want to protect you." He said without looking at me. We are just looking straight in our front. "I don't need your protection Charles, all I need is a god damn truth." I answer him in a low voice. I look at him and when he notice it he look back. "Now I know that I murdered someone, can you now tell me what happened? And what happened to me last year?" I ask him.

But wait...

I realize something.

Something that I didn't told him but he knew. How does he know that I don't remember everything from last year? Does he know something?

"How did you know?" I ask him incomplete. "I know what?" He ask back in confusion. "That I don't remember from last year? Did you know something? Is that the reason why your protecting me?" I ask him but he didn't answer back.

I knew it! Since the first place! After my birthday! He come to me, he want something from me and I don't know what it is. I don't really understand him, I don't know how to read him. I don't.

"There's only one thing that I know, it is to protect you from the people who wanted you. And to protect you from being hurt. And that is only I know Jack. Only." He said before he stood up and goes back to Nadia.

"What happened?" I look to Cameron when he woke up. "Nothing happened." I answered.

I can sense that Cameron is a good person. I mean everyone is good, I just don't want those people who lies in front of me and betrayed me. I look to Allyssa when she woke up. Everything's different. I just confess my feelings to her without knowing it.

"Do you really like her?" Cameron ask. I look to him and laugh. "She's pretty and a good one. She cared about people even to the bad ones." I answered him. He look away and I saw him gasp.  "Is there something wrong?" I ask him. "Nothing, I'm just tired and hungry." He answered. "Don't you miss your family?" I ask him. "I don't have family Jack. I was just like you but the different is you are rich and I am not. You live in a mansion while I lived in an orphanage." He answered.

How does he know that I lived in a mansion?

"You live in a Mansion?" I look to the only person i hate, Daniel. "Yeah, why?" I ask him. "I just thought your like a Brenner who has a lot of money, i didn't expect that you live in a Mansion!" He said like he didn't ever heard a Mansion word before.

Okay? This is weird? This is the first time I saw him smile.

"Don't worry, when we get out of here alive you can live with me. You are my friend Cameron." I said. He smiled and hug me. I wasn't expecting that.

"Allyssa is this you?" I look to another player, she is Rose. I talk to her one time in the kingdom when we are getting ready for the battle.

Rose is pointing out a picture in the bulletin board. This bamboo house is big, like a rest house but not that good. It's still empty and the only thing inside is a board with full of news paper and picture, a table and a mat.

Allyssa stood up and walk towards Rose. All players are now awake. It's been hour since we start to rest, but I didn't get any rest because I just can't.

"Yeah that's me. How does it ge--" she stop saying and we saw her drop the photos. "What happened?" The other player asked. I stand up and walk towards them.

The bulletin is full of pictures of Allyssa and her family. It's like who ever took this photo is stalking her. I saw Daniel approach Allyssa. He ask what happened and Allyssa point out a one picture of her and the other boys, which include Daniel. In the photo there are 5 people there including Allyssa and Daniel.

"Why? What's the matter with my friends?" Daniel ask him. "I don't remember taking this photo." She said. "We we're Young that time, your 13 and I'm 14." He said. "There are the people who r***d me, Daniel." She said and everyone was shock, even Daniel.

Daniel doesn't know that Allyssa was r***d, he just know that her parents was killed that night.

"r***d you?!" Daniel said in his shock tone. "There are all good Allyssa, are you sure? And, and r***d you? How the hell I didn't know about it?" He ask. "Because you dump me, I don't expect something from you after that day." Allyssa answered and she look down.

I felt sorry for her.

Daniel gently touch Allyssa's back and comfort her. "I'm sorry. If I only knew I will help you. But don't worry if I found this three I'll kill them!" Daniel said, while his voice is shaking.  I felt his madness through his voice.

If my girlfriend was r***d by my friend maybe I'll do the same, I can't handle it. But in sad reality, I don't have one.

"Then what are we doing here? And where are we?" Rose ask. " I don't know. Maybe will find a clue about it." Allyssa answered. "We should go now, we can't stay here forever specially when the announcer of the next task didn't gave us a hint on what next challenge we're gonna do." Daniel said.

They open the door and walk outside. We just folowed them. I look around while walking, we don't know what are the things that waiting for us out here. This is a forest, anything can happen.

"Jack!" I look back when I heard Nadia's voice. She's with Charles but I didn't give attention to him so i stop, we stop walking. "Hey Charles you should walk with Cameron, I have something to tell with Jack." Nadia said and Charles agreed.

We wait for Cameron and Charles to walk before we followed them. I look at her worried face so I ask her what's bothering her. "I have something to confess." She said. I stop and face her, waiting for her words. "I know I can trust you..." She stop and look down. "What is it?" I ask her. "You have powers right? Can control things with your mind... Telekinesis, thats what it called..." "Yeah I know what it's called." I said.

She breathe and look at me.

"I don't know where it came from but I..." Her voice faded until i didn't heard any sounds from my surroundings, because I just focus at her back. Until I realized what it is. "Get down!" I shout and pull Nadia down to the ground before it hit us.

A big bird fly towards us.

I know it's not a good bird because I saw it claws like it's ready to tear anything apart. The other players look at us. I look up to the trees and we saw lot of birds, same as the big one who attack us. This ain't good.

"Run!" I shout and they did. We run.

The birds are chasing us.

We just run and run, until we approach the end limit of the forest where we can fall and die. We spread out and we took our left and run.

"What the hell is wrong with those freaking birds?!" Nadia said while running. To be honest, I don't know. I saw a big rock so I decided to hide behind that rock. "Quick! At the back of those rock!" I said to Nadia and we did. We hid.

The birds who are chasing us just pass us. Until no birds are passing us we stayed here for a minutes.

We heard a loud scream everywhere. I know it came from the players because we are the only people in here, no others.

"What are the worst thing that the bird can do to us?" I ask in confusion. "Death?" Nadia answered. Death? I don't even know what kind of bird is that. After a minutes I stood up and look back. I was shock on what I saw, on what we saw. "Yeah maybe you're right." I said to Nadia. There are two players laying down on the ground and they are covered in blood and there skin was ripped off.

We left the rock and walk where we came from. When we approach the edge of the forest I look down. How are we going out of here? It's ust full of trees. How can we find a water? I'm thirsty.

"How do we find the others?" She ask. I don't know. Maybe we just walk and walk until we find something.

When sun comes down we stop walking and sat down. Until now, no players. We didn't find any players but we found food. We share it and ate a berries. I hope it's not poisonous.

I look at her again. "What are you talking about earlier?" I ask her and she looks at me. "It's nothing." She said.

"Why you didn't escape to the orphanage if you know that they are hurting you?"

"It is because I talk to my guardian soul, it protects me on any cost."

"Oh yeah like what? You talk to spirits?"

"Yeah and because of tha-- Jack? Nadia?"

We look to our right and we saw Cameron, Charles, and two other players that I didn't know the name. Nadia runs to Charles and hug him. I feel some love between them. Smell fishy..

They sat down around us and we build a circle. The other player suggest to make a fire so she did. She used her hands and some woods. "I know the two of you didn't know our names so I'll introduce us. I'm Dean and he's Luke." The girl said while making some fire.

"So you're like a thing?" Nadia ask to the two. "Yeah. We just met here and we promised to each other that when we get out of here we'll be married, right Luke?" The girl said and they kiss each other.

Okay?

I look to Charles who is sitting alone at the back of the tree. I'm kinda guilty for what I said to him back there, he just want to be my friend but I denied it. He just want to protect me but I don't. I mean, it's weird because I don't really know what's his intentions. Since at the diner he approach me until now, I can't read him. All I just wanna know is the truth that I know he knows.

I stand and walk towards him, he look at me.

"What do you want?" He ask. I sat down to his side and talk to him. "Nothing, you look lonely." I said. "I'm alone Jack, you just don't see it." He said and look down. "How can you be so alone if you had lot of friends and your family is complete?" I ask him.

I'm alone, everyday. But I don't feel being alone all the time. Suddenly he laugh and he look at me.

"You really believe that?" He said in sarcastic. "Yeah, I have a complete family but did you know that I am adopted? That means they don't love me. My stepmom are the only one who cares about me. My stepbrother and stepdad always beat me!" He stop and he wipe his tears out. "I had friends! But I am not there friends! They only want me for their future, I have girlfriend but she only want the attention. So no one loves me Jack, I'm all alone." He said and I can feel the sadness through his voice. "So do you think my life is better than yours? Maybe ask yourself why I wanted my life to be like yours. You don't have memory in the past because it is better for you not to know, at least you live your life happy and independent. You just suffered because of your power. And at the end, nothing will change in your routine even you found the answer. It will just make you more being a Brenner." He said.

On that moment I just felt empty again, I felt being in an empty box but the difference this time is that I fell. I fell into realization that I should not predict the future because it will change at the end and it will just dissapoint you.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean too." I said in dissapointment. "I know." He said. I touch his shoulder and look at his eye, his blue eye. "All I want is the truth Charles. I want you to give me the truth. Anytime, I am free to listen. Because I can't handle any visions anymore because it just makes me more confuse. And it hurt my head." I said in my serious tone. He smiled for seconds and it fade. He look away. "All I want to do is not to hurt you. Because I can see that when we get out of here you will make the biggest mistake of your life. " He said

Why is he protecting me? Does it affect myself?

"Did you know that one of Daniel friend is our classmate? When we we're freshman? It's been 3 years since he went missing. He just turned 15 that time, he skip one year." Charles said. I look to him. "But I don't remember them, or one of them." I answered. "Because you are new that time. You just woke up in the hospital and you don't pay attention to those people who is not important to you." He answered.

Oh. I just woke up in the hospital. That means I'm just new to the world. Don't know what to do first that time.

"He was a good boy, he always talk about his friend from out of town. Out of Friday Harbor, Washington. He is the only person that make me Charles Wilson. He taught me how to fight and stand on my own. I become bully that time, with him and the other kid." He said. " So when one day he visit his friend and leave me for 2 weeks. I continue bullying that time until it become months and we found out that his missing, and I changed. From bully to this." He said.

Oh. Maybe his right. I'm not really focus to people that time. Because I don't care.  "What's his name?" I ask him. "Peemark." He answered. Weird name. But sound familiar.

That night is in deep sleep. The only thing we heard is the air and the birds tweet. Until the night awoken when we heard a gun shot. I open my eyes fast as I could and I saw a man who's holding a gun and pointing it to me.

"What the hell?!" I said. "It's your time now." He said in deep voice. Before he click the gun there was a circle thing that has been throw at us. We all look on that thing and before we shout and say run, it explode a white fog.

I stand and tries to run but I can't breath.

Until I felt sleepy and I found myself laying on the ground.
