::Sarah's POV::
Good grief, I repeatedly told myself, or at least tried to distract me from the pain that was overwhelming my body. Drake giving up was what I had been wanting, right? I got what I wanted, but why do I feel so cold? I paced myself in the room confused. I tried to seek advise from my wolf , but Jen had gone silent. And for the first time in years, I was alone.
I scratched my head in frustration, did I go too far? No response from Jen.
You wanna go see him Jen? I offered.
No response.
Feeling guilty and a bit worried Jen are you there? and all I received back was a faint sigh. Okay so she was still with me, but feeling her so down is killing me. She had done everything for me 'till this day. I basically owed her my life, yet rewarded her nothing. My eyebrows slammed against each other pissed off at myself. I was so selfish! I hated that I had to come to the realization!
Okay, Jen you win, we shall get him back! I encouraged.
''It might be a little too late,'' she muttered and turned away. She receded voluntarily to the back of my thoughts.
Holding a fist at my heart I couldn't help but feel the hurt from my wolf. She was always feisty, and had a fire ball spirit, but today she seemed as if she had given up. Tears began to form in my eyes, but I fought them back in.
No, it's never too late! He is still our mate! Right?
With that I headed out the door to look for him. I jogged down the staircase and found myself at the base of the reception room. A bunch of maids turned their attention towards me, and began to blush? Wha-what were they blushing about? I realized I was panting and out of breath. Could they possibly think? Oh no.
''Well I guess we can address you as Luna'' Melody appeared.
I found myself filling with heat a lot today, I shook my head in assurance, ''Not quite...'' I shown my unmarked neck, ''...do you know where he is though?''
Confused and soon shifting their faces to a bit of pity Melody placed her palm on my shoulders.
''It's okay Sa- madam.'' She sadly sighed. Then she happily gestured towards the other ladies, ''Welcome to the club!''
Wait, what?! What did she mean by welcome to the clu- oh. The other servants bowed their head in unison. They were his contracted mates! How did I not realize this? They were all too beautiful to be regular maids!
''No no, there is a misunderstanding,'' I declined. I can't believe I was going to say it, but, ''I'm his mate.''
The girls eyes shot up with pure joy and happiness! Their faces lit up at the fact I just said it.
''Wait, you're not mad, or jealous?'' I asked.
''Not one bit!'' a maid assured, ''Master deserves your love, he's been restless for years!'' she remembered.
''Yeah not to mention, our contracts would be broken.'' Melody added.
I looked at them with half squinted eyes curiously blurting, ''What is your contracts?''
The girls happily whispered amongst themselves before admitting to me, ''Our contracts end when he finds his true mate. When the Crimson Red tribe obtains a Luna all contracted mates get to go back home or become free!'' Melody finished.
I could not believe what I just heard! It was too much to take in all at once, these girls future was in my hands! Now I was a bit confused, ''Why didn't you try to run away?''
''Well...'' another servant whispered, ''Master Drake always treated us with respect and courtesy, we were actually fine remaining his servants until he found his mate''.
''Although, it would be nice to be able to return home'' a blonde haired beauty said. The maids nodded to one another in agreement. They then turned towards me with a bit of disappointment.
''Well, to tell you the truth, Master Drake just left. He had meetings to attend to out of territory and won't be back until two weeks.'' Melody sighed.
What? He went away without even telling me? I felt myself rage, but soon realized that I was the one who pushed him away all these times. I looked down at the floor ashamed of myself.
Two damn weeks, what was I going to do while he was gone? Had he gone to fulfill more contracts? What if he realizes he didn't want me anymore? I heard a wince from Jen. I should really shut off my thoughts. There was nothing I could do but wait for the two weeks to pass at this point.
The hours passed and it felt like months! Jen had been growing weaker and weaker as I remembered I haven't taken her out for a run in ages. I told the maids I was going for a run in the nearby woods, but will remain in territory. With a nod I dismissed myself. I skipped along the garden, the smell of different botanical flowers filled my nostrils. I picked up the pace and began to feel myself transform.
Leaping through the air I successfully shifted into Jen. Jen had fur almost similar to that of a husky, Black in most parts with a mask of white. The sun glittered on my fur exposing a shade of night blue against my black fur, and light blue against my white ones. Stretching out the ole bones I let Jen take over.
And she happily did!
She began frantically running around chasing rabbits, squirrels, and anything that moved.
''I haven't been out in so long'' she gleefully cheered.
I know, I'm sorry, this is just the beginning of your reward. I pointed out.
''Don't play with me,'' I felt her slowing down, ''I don't like broken promises''.
Ouch!
She came to a halt on top of a hill. The breeze rummaged through her fur, blowing in synced with nature she was one beautiful wolf. She sat down and drooped her head.
What's wrong Jen? I sadly asked.
''The last thing I want for us, is to be alone forever'' she sobbed.
My wolf was crying! No no Jen I promise we will get him back! I had to think of a way to calm her down. Her spirits were dangerously low, I didn't want her to leave me. But I began to rethink to myself, Can we actually get him back?
Then she let out a howl. A sad howl rang through the air. She blocked me off and kept howling. Tears began to form in my eyes, because she was in pain. She was unhappy, and she didn't deserve it. The only thing I could do was strengthen her howl. Together we howled at the sky. Allowing our hearts to cry out.
All of a sudden we heard a rustle, in the bushes. I shot up in alert and so did Jen, we did not recognize this scent. Feeling our razor back hairs stiffen we got into a defensive stance and let out a growl.
''Who's there?!'' we snarled.
A male wolf almost twice my height appeared through the bushes. I lowered my head and let out even more snarls and growls warning him to stay away. He stayed put and lifted a paw, ''Don't worry Sarah, I'm one of the pack''.
Not changing my stance I began to sniff him out from the distance. It became more clear to me that he was indeed telling the truth. I lowered my ruffled hair and sat down on my paws.
''What brings you here?'' I asked.
''Well, I thought you might need a friend especially with the Alpha gone!'' he chuckled. He bowed his head, ''My name is Billy, pleased to meet your acquaintance.''
Should we trust him? I muttered to my wolf.
''I'm not sure, but best to keep an eye out if anything'' she suggested.
Not going to try to look suspicious I tucked my paws as I laid onto the soft grass, ''So, Billy, what do you do for the pack?'' I questioned.
He followed suit, still staying his distance, ''Well. I'm a pack warrior and nurse assistant'' he proudly answered.
I flicked my head to the side, ''I thought males aren't allowed to be pack nurses?''
He smirked his jaws, ''Well, there said nothing about being an 'assistant' now is there?'' he lectured.
Touche.
''Oh...'' he added, ''...you don't got to worry about me...'' he revealed his obviously bitten mark on his neck, ''...I'm taken''.
I wouldn't think it mattered, but I felt myself tense less as he shown me it. I quietly sighed to myself. I looked back at him with squinted eyes and came up with a plan, ''So you're going to be my entertainment while he's gone'' I smirked.
Tilting his head in question he then stiffened for a moment. The process of mind linking. He then turned to me, ''That was Drake, I had to tell him I found you''.
Drake? I felt my heart flutter. Oh- wait, shoot, I can't mind link with him because we haven't done the ritual. I still shrugged at the silly tradition, but a part of me was making it very clear that I wanted to be close to him again. I frowned that I wasn't able to at least talk to him before he left.
''Awe don't worry Luna, Drake can't get his mind off of you either,'' I heard Billy interrupt my thoughts.
He can't? a glint of hope shot through my eyes and this made Jen feel better.
''Well we outta get out of here though Miss is there anything in particular that you'd want to do?'' Billy asked.
What indeed? I began to think to myself before a light bulb appeared at the top of my head.
''How about a warrior assistant?'' I replied.
With a raise of concern along with his eyebrow, ''You do know only males are allowed to be warriors?''
I sassy replied, ''There was no saying there couldn't be an assistant warrior''.
Billy began to chuckle before rubbing his eyes, ''I like you, most girls wouldn't even dream to set foot in the warrior training grounds''.
This could be an opportunity to get to know more of the clan. Broader variety then just the in house female staff. At some point I'd want to learn nursing assisting, since I couldn't be one back home. I already saw my two weeks was going to be a breeze with so much in schedule.
