Babies Coming Home

1501 Words
It was the 30th of May when Old Kayla announces that Heather and the twins could finally come home after completing the more than 40 days of confinement in the infirmary. The rest of the pioneers and I were at the infirmary and I had an awkward feeling of holding a bundle of joy in my arms, in fact, it was two on both of my arms. "Hahaha... See, Daddy is strong, you know. I could even lift you both in my arms even though you both now weighs a hefty 20 over pounds... Hahaha. Lucky daddy had exercised enough and my big strong arms could lift you and rock you to sleep... Hehehe." I was happily cradling both of them when Heather warned me not to rock them too much since they had just been fed. The twins were looking at me and were holding their gloved fists to reach out at me when both of them simultaneously barfed...! "Help... Help... The twins just made some butter curds and Oh My God... How do they smell... Eww... Quick... Somebody... Help me...!" I froze on the ground as I looked at Heather and Old Kayla as the pioneers looked at me and laughed at my antics. Yes, it's true... Baby bards do stink like yoghurt... Hahaha. I guess the milk that was turned into butter would not smell as bad as those barf at all. Ewww... A helper came and wiped the barf away from the sides of the twin's mouth as they laughed and giggled in my arms and both were kicking their legs and flailing their arms. Not that I wanted to rock them, but they rocked themselves too much as well... Wuwuwuwu. Barf on my sleeves... Smelly la weii...! "Come, dear, put them in their stroller. You can push them but not rock them and push them at the same time. It's their first time outside and they were all excited to see all the things they were seeing now." Heather pushed the twin baby stroller close and open up the collapsible shed thingy as it was very cushy indeed. The stroller was built in such a way that a catch could make the cot lie down or tilt it an upright angle as if the twins were sitting up. *VROOM VROOM VROOM* Oops...wrong era. Its clappity clop, clappity clop, clappity clop... Err... Horse drawn wooden carriage and not horse-powered metal carriages instead? The twins were comfortably resting inside the stroller and was brought to sitting up position as I slowly pushed the stroller forward as I tested my elbows on the push handle. I clapped my hands and made twinkles and faces as the twins laughed at my silly antics and they might be thinking — what an ugly old man they were having as their daddy. Hahaha...! I was like a tour guide as I showed the twins of the herbal garden and also the vegetable garden, as when we reached the domain, I told the twins that it was a secular building instead and we were just temporarily residing in it. We strolled to the courtyard where everyone got down on their knees as they saluted the twins and then new motherly Queen which I told them that it would only be today and the practise would not be continued. Then residents nodded as I pushed the stroller with Heather alongside, linking her arms around mine as we pushed the stroller around and tell a story to the twins as if they understood every single word I said. The twins blinked at me and laughed when I looked their way as I pushed the stroller up along the left side of the courtyard and went down on the right-hand side where the Gracehaven's Greasy Spoon and Gracehaven's Finest Bakery were. The twins crinkled up their noses as they smelled the freshly cooked food at the Gracehaven's Greasy Spoon and Heather was piqued to find the building was extended and had more varieties. Next would be the Gracehaven's Finest Bakery where Heather immediately went over to grab a cold fish sandwich with servings of salad leaves, cucumber, fresh tomatoes and mayonnaise. Heather was eating in front of the twins and told them they could only taste the food through feeding time as I noticed the twins were extending their hands and trying to grab at the foods as they placed their gloved fists the mouths to mimic the way their mother was eating. Old Kayla saw what she was doing and slapped lightly on the side of Heather's arm as she dabs a bit of the food and then transferred it to the twin's mouths to have a minuscule taste of it. "Don't eat in front of the children this way. They would feel disappointed if they never have what they see. Look at them, see how they are trying to mimic your eating? They are now stuffing their fists inside and gnawing at it. Pitiful right?" Old Kayla chided Heather, even though the former had never bear any children before as Heather scooted a distance away and wolfed down on the sandwich soonest possible and came back after she had wiped mouth clean. "Mummy is back... See, no more food. Sorry, my darlings, mummy doesn't know and mummy won't do it in front of you again, OK." she peeked her head to look at the twins as the twins were still putting their gloved fist inside the mouths as I asked how many time they need to be fed per day, "As much as 6 to 8 times dear." "No wonder the twins are always hungry. They are growing up." I thought inwardly as we had reached the domain and Heather noticed the two copper Tuns as she inspected the contents. "Is this your idea?" "Not mine at all. I just noticed that, a few days ago. As usual, I'm quite tied up with matters at heart. There are some projects that you need to be aware of but at the meantime, I won't be away as I had planned before and prefer to stay right at home and only goes out of I need be." "Besides our old dignitaries would be coming over to visit us in the next few days and it gives us bragging rights to show off our new twins... Hehehe." At the meantime, Michelle had arrived with some sheets of paper in her hand and when she saw the twins she squealed in delight. She poked her head in between us as she peeked at the twins." Hello there, do I qualify to your a godmother? Wee wee wee... "as she raised her hands on the sides of the face and flapped it like a big elephant. The two twins immediately had a change in their expression as both of them immediately pouted and scrunch up their faces and started to bawl out loud... "See Michelle, you had scared the twins. How are you going to be a godmother to them if they cried the moment they see your face or sense your aura. Hahaha. Even if they're bawling they looked so cute." I playfully chided Michelle for making the twins cry and immediately pointed to her uniform that she was wearing that might have scared them. She had a long sword that she had carried on her back instead of the sides as the long sword happened to be drag on the ground of she walked around with it. So she carried it on her back like a few of the Shadow members with their customised single-edged thin blades. All the pioneers were fussing around with the ushering of Heather to the domain back with the twins as the helpers carry the twins up while some carried the remaining stuff. They left the stroller on the ground floor since it would not be a need to bring it up and down every time. Besides, there's another set of crib and cots upstairs for the twins. When Heather saw the whole set up she was satisfied with how I had planned them out to be. The twins had their own room complete with a mosquito net over their crib to ward off mosquitoes and gnats. There's also some eucalyptus plants and chamomile plants at the entrance of the room to add some nature and to ward off moths and gnats as well. "I like what you did to the place." Heather slithered her arms and linked with mine as the twins were cooed to sleep by the helpers. Soon it would be feeding time and because Heather was breastfeeding the twins, she was wearing a maternity long dress instead of her normal fine wear. "Your Majesty, this is the required items for the new factory and modus operandi." Michelle handed me the sheaves of paper and I thanked her as Heather soon went to feed the twins as I sat at the settee to look at the required operational items.
