A reality

Third person's POV Apparently, Rosemary wasn't the only one who was struggling to get used to some certain things. For as long as she could remember, Suzy had battled with the same thing, over and over again. It always surprised her how her mother could trust her fourteen year old—younger brother—more than her. "Tony wasn't in that terrible accident, Suzy. You should understand why I want you to rely on him, you need his help." Those were words Suzy had hoped her mum would eventually get tired of saying but with each passing day, it was looking highly unlikely. Besides, Suzy was well aware of the fact that her other siblings were of some use while she had become a blind liability. And even though Suzy wasn't a fan of the arrangements, there was only so much a blind girl could do. But this was her way of redeeming herself, her way of trying to fix her very messed up life. Music was all she had and Suzy wasn't ready to let go of the only thing that still kept her going. "Hurry up, Anthony," Suzy called out to her brother as they walked down the street, with intentions of catching the last bus before it left without them—again. "We're going to be late for the party and Beta Andrew wouldn't be pleased." She added, hurrying as fast as her legs and cane could carry and aid her. Spending enough time in and out of hospitals had helped in opening Suzy's mind to a new possibility—her ability to sing. The nurses had praised her amazing voice and her mother had encouraged her to keep singing. It was this talent of hers that had landed her an invitation to one of the biggest events in the entire kingdom. According to what Suzy had been told, the Beta had heard rumors of a blind girl who had an angelic voice and he had extended an invitation to said blind girl to perform at his event. Rosemary had been solidly against it—talking about how the higher ranks always abused their powers—but Suzy had happily accepted the offer. And even though she had spent days convincing her mother to agree to let her perform at the event, there was still the factor of her getting there on time. The Beta's house was quite the distance from theirs and tardiness wasn't the ideal impression she was aiming to bestow on them. Anthony murmured something incoherent—in regards to her push—but he picked up the pace nonetheless, making sure his sister followed closely by. Just like their mother, Tony wasn't a fan of these outings but Suzy had always been a force to reckon with. It was almost impossible to talk her out of anything she had put her mind to. "Has the bus arrived?" Suzy inquired when she noticed they had stopped but silence greeted her. "Tony, didn't you hear what I just asked?" She demanded, squeezing tightly on his hand that was safely enclasped in hers. Her brother let out a low grunt before he resumed walking again. "It seems like it hasn't arrived yet," Tony finally said, wincing slightly when Suzy repeated the action again. "But it could also have gone off before our arrival. These things are highly unpredictable." He added in a hushed tone and a smirk spread across his face when Suzy grimaced, allowing a look of disappointment to spread across her face. Sighing heavily, Suzy withdrew her hand from Tony's with a slight tug, "How do we get to the party then?" She asked her brother who was equally as confused as she was. Parties were not his thing but he knew how important it was for his sister to attend this particular event. "I'll look for a way." Tony concluded flatly, grabbing hold of Suzy's hand as he started walking again. All Suzy could do was follow silently, quickly and without any form of protest. And even though she was dying to ask how Troy was planning to remedy the situation, she decided it was best not to interfere and to allow him do his thing. After walking for a while, Tony suddenly stopped and released Suzy's hand. "I think I might have found a way," he said to her as he led her to a corner of the road. "Stay here and wait for me." Without another word, he slowly guided her farther from the road and after making sure she was at a safe distance, he left. As Suzy waited for Tony's return, her mind started to wander just like it always does—without any form of control. Instinctively, she glanced up towards the sky, unsure of what exactly she was hoping to find. She could recall her mum talking about how bright the sky was looking and she all but wished she could have a glance at the beautiful sky. Even though losing her sight had been the repercussion of such a tragedy, Suzy still held on to hope that her sight would be restored someday. The only people who shared that belief with Suzy were her siblings and her mum but outsiders had a thing or two to say about her strong faith in the restoration of her eyesight. "Give up, Blind girl." You're better off like this anyways." "Who would want to associate themselves with a lowly blind omega?" "Can't you fix yourself?" "What was the point of killing your father if you wouldn't get to see the world you so desperately wanted to live in?" "Even the doctors couldn't fix you, what makes you think a miracle would?" Tears gathered in Suzy's eyes as the voices grew louder and louder, taunting her with so much vigour she felt her legs give way. Discarding her brother's instructions to stay put, she moved her hands to her face and roughly wiped off the tears as she took a few steps forward. It was bad enough that she had become a burden to everyone around her, crying about it wasn't going to solve anything. Just as she was about to call out to Tony, a loud yelp echoed down the street as she roughly collided with someone. "Watch where you're going!" The person yelled out in anger as strong hands roughly shoved her to the side. A low cry escaped Suzy's lips as her back slammed into the wall she had previously been resting on and she fell heavily to the ground. "Freak!" She heard the person spat out at her as she scrambled around for her cane. The tears she had momentarily fought back, sprang to her eyes as she scurried around unsuccessfully for the only form of support she had. It has to be here! She yelled in her head as she moved on all fours, struggling to locate the object. Heavily frustrated, tears started streaming down Suzy's face as she continued the search for the cane. Suddenly, she heard a strong male voice call out to her, "Here you go," at the exact same moment the cane was placed into her hand. "You don't have to look for it anymore." The person added softly as another pair of hands—gentlier this time—held on to her, helping her to her feet. "Thank… " Suzy's voice trailed off as she heard the sound of receding footsteps and it quickly dawned on her that whoever had given her assistance had left in the same hurry with which the first person had shoved her down. There was no certainty that it had indeed been two different people but Suzy felt it had to be. The chances of the person shoving her aside and then proceeding to help her were way too slim, it had to be someone else. The only regret she felt as she dragged in deep breaths to regain her composure, was the fact that she had not properly thanked the knight in shining armor for his help. With the cane now in her possession, Suzy carefully moved back to her initial position just in time for Tony's much anticipated return. "Why are your clothes so dirty?" Tony asked her, immediately he got close enough to where she was. "Did something happen?" He asked again, oblivious to the fact that she had left his first question unanswered. "It doesn't matter, Tony," Suzy responded firmly, mentally chiding herself to not dump all her frustrations on him. "Did you find a way to get us to the party?" She asked, shifting the conversation towards more important matters. It didn't take long for Tony to shift gears too because his face suddenly lit up at her inquiry. Grabbing hold of her hand, he whispered softly as he carefully led her further than the street. "As a matter of fact," he paused for effect and Suzy let out an exasperated sigh. "I have found the perfect way to get us to our destination." His grip tightened on hers and Suzy couldn't help but share in his excitement—she was one step closer to making her dreams a reality.
