    Jacob sat stirring his coffee at the kitchen counter. We shouldn’t have been having coffee so late, but I didn’t want to sleep anymore. My heart was racing as I stared at him. I should’ve never left him if I was going to take him back so quickly. He had saved me from Michael, and I had fallen back into him immediately. I didn’t regret it, though.     “You never took your ring off.” He whispered finally, looking up at me.     I smiled. “Most days, I forgot I was even wearing it.”     “So you were flirting with another guy while wearing my ring,” Jacob said flatly.     My face dropped. “Jacob.”     He got up, rounding the countertop peninsula to where I was standing.
