    The next morning, I awoke tangled in sheets. My head was on Jacob’s chest, and he was running his fingers through my hair. The situation was odd. Usually, if he was up before me, he’d climb out of bed and make us breakfast. That was not the case today. I propped my chin upon his chest, staring at him. Jacob didn’t look down at me. He continued to stare at the ceiling.     “My love,” I whispered. “What’s wrong?”     Jacob’s mouth twitched at the corners. “Nothing. I just didn’t want to get up.
