Jacob Jacob didn’t think. He just stormed out of the house and all the way to the castle. Now, he waited outside his father’s office. It was rare for the king to be anywhere but the throne room. Jacob knew there was so much wrong now. He paced the carpet, trying to calm his nerves. But, they wouldn’t relax. Every part of him was on fire. Finally, he was let into the study. The king was bent over his desk, a map sprawled out before him. Jacob stood at attention, waiting for his father to acknowledge him. Arvendon’s Secretary of Defense stood at the end of the desk, awaiting orders. He was a large man, tall and broad. The prince had seen this man many times before but couldn’t remember his name. He would have to remedy that before he became king. Finally, his father looked up.
