    The following day, I awoke wrapped in blankets and naked. I was warm even though Jacob wasn’t beside me. I sat up and looked around. The house was quiet. The smell of food was beginning to waft up the stairs into the bedroom. I got up and out of bed. There was a shirt lying on the end of the bed. I quickly pulled it on and then padded downstairs.     I found Jacob leaning over the oven. I smiled, leaning against the fridge and watching him cook for a long moment. He glanced over, a small smile tugging at his lips. He stood straight and turned to me.     “Bri.” It was a whisper filled with emotion.
