30. Red Blood

    The next three days, morning sickness took hold of me. It was worse than I could have ever imagined. I laid in bed all day with the trash can next to the nightstand. Any time I wasn’t sleeping, I was throwing up. Jacob stayed in bed next to me the entire time. Any moment I wasn’t puking, he would wrap himself around me, giving me some much-needed comfort.     On the third day, I rolled over to face my fiancé. Jacob was lying on his side, watching me. He reached over and smoothed a strand of stray hair. I curled into him, and my fiancé wrapped his arms around me.     He leaned forward and kissed my forehead.     “How are you feeling?” He asked quietly.     “Like death,” I answered, leaning into him.     Jacob held me close. “Do you want to try eating something? You need to eat.”
