The following week, it was New Year’s Eve, ten minutes before midnight. Jacob and I sat on the roof of our house. He had dragged me up here, against Tanner’s wishes, with no explanation whatsoever. The prince lounged back, watching the stars. He held my hand softly in his, something he had never done before outside of public engagements. I had to wonder what was going through his mind.     We had spent the last week patching up our relationship. Still, I knew it was on thin ice. We were going to fight, and there was no way around that. Still, a few nights that week, we spent the night on the couch, reading books back and forth to each other. We hadn’t touched any more of my brother’s letters. I wondered if we would ever finish our brothers’ love story. I’m sure we would, eventually.
