For centuries, we have feared the dragons—monsters lurking in the shadows, waiting to burn our kingdoms to ash. They are ruthless, heartless beasts, incapablei of love. At least, that’s what I was raised to believe.I met him later. Blaze. He was everything I had learned to fear—cruel, powerful, invincible. But beneath the fire of his eyes, I saw something that no one else saw. A trapped soul like mine. A heart that wasn't as hard as he wanted the world to believe.I should have feared him. I should have run. And yet, I had the courage to confront him.And now I don't know if I was being courageous or insane—because here I am yearning for the one monster I was never meant to love. But love between a human and a dragon is forbidden. With war looming and my people demanding , I am left with an impossible choice: Do I stand against the man I’ve come to love, or do I betray my own kind to fight by his side?Either way… I might lose everything

The Last Dragon
Chapter One: The Last Dragon (Blaze’s POV) For centuries, they have hunted my kind. Once, dragons ruled the skies, their shadows stretching across kingdoms, their roars shaking the earth. But humans feared what they could not control. One by one, my kin fell—slaughtered by cowards who called themselves heroes. They carved our bones into weapons, melted our scales into armor, and told stories of their victories. Now, I am the last. Blaze—the final dragon of this world. And they want to get rid of me too. The night was alive with laughter, the scent of roasted meats, the clinking of goblets filled with wine. From my perch above the city, I watched them celebrate, my golden eyes burning with quiet fury. The kingdom of Latin was celebrating something—some festival or foolish tradition. The palace was draped in golden banners, torches lighting up the night like fallen stars. Humans twirled across the grand courtyard, unaware of the monster lurking just beyond their walls. But I wasn’t here for their celebrations. I was here because of what I had overheard. Down below, in the shadows of a quiet alley, two men whispered drunkenly over their drinks. “They say the king has put a price on the dragon’s head.” My blood ran hot. “The last dragon,” the other slurred. “If he is captured, the man who brings him in will be rewarded with land, gold… even the princess’s hand in marriage.” I clenched my claws into the stone ledge. A bounty. On me. The king of Latin truly believed he could take me down. That he could bribe men to do what generations of warriors had failed to accomplish. Did he not remember how I burned his father’s army to ash? Did he not recall the countless hunters who had tried and died at my claws? Fools. If they wanted a war, I would bring it to them. But fire alone would not be enough. No, I wanted the king to suffer. I wanted him to know what it felt like to lose something irreplaceable. And what did he cherish most? His daughter. Princess Sonia. I had spotted her once, behind and at a distance. I knew that she was the jewel of the kingdom, the one treasure for which the king would kill. If I took her, It would shatter him. And if I shattered him, I would burn his city to the ground. With a snarl, I spread my wings and dived into the blackness. The palace was awe-inspiring, its golden minarets climbing up towards heaven. I flew overhead about the party, looking down from darkness as human kind danced under the moonlight. In the courtyard shone nobles in dazzling gowns and luxurious robes, their cheeks stained with wine and laughter. In the center of them was her. Princess Sonia. She wore silver silk, dark locks flowing down her back in waves. She was not like the others—unmoving, serious, yet having presence. There was something about her eyes, something that made my flame twirl with interest. I had expected her to fear. I had expected to be so scared. But she wasn’t. And then the king stood and held up his goblet, his voice booming over the crowd "Tonight, we celebrate the beginning of our kingdom's future! A future free from darkness cast by the last dragon's shadow!" There was cheering. There were colliding goblets. I growled. Fools. Did they not realize their enemy hovered above them? Enough. Time had come. I let out a deafening roar and dived from the air. The moment my claws landed on the palace floor, the world descended into chaos. Women cried out. Men withdrew. Goblets crashed onto the floor. The music died, and the sweet scent of wine turned to the acrid bite of terror. I stretched my wings, my massive frame towering above them all. My dark scales caught the torches' light and glowed. My golden eyes burned like boiling fire. Smoke curled from my nostrils and filled the room with the promise of destruction. Terror. It was thick, palpable, taking up the air between us like a living entity. But not her. Sonia stood in the midst of the frantic crowd, her expression impassive. She did not flee. Did not scream. She merely watched me, as if she had been waiting for me. Something odd fluttered in my chest. Then, the king's voice boomed out, trembling with rage. "GUARDS! TAKE THE BEAST INTO CUSTODY!" I laughed—a low, rasping sound that sent shivers down the room. Did he actually believe his men could hold me back? The guards charged, drawn swords glinting. Foolish. I lashed my tail quickly, sending them crashing into the banquet tables, their bodies thudding against the food and fine china. I breathed deeply, a stream of flame curling into the air—a warning. None of them moved. And then I turned to her. The princess. She was why I had been brought here. And now, she was mine. In one swift motion, I hurled myself forward, looping my claws about her waist. She was shorter than I had envisioned, slender beneath my claws, yet there was a quiet strength in the way she held herself. The king's scream inside my head. "NO! STOP HIM!" Too late. I thrust into the sky, the princess clinging to my back. The castle receded below, the screams of the humans echoing louder and then more distant until they were merely air. I'd anticipated she'd scream. She'd fight. But she didn't do either. She did not struggle. She did not thrash. She didn't even blink. She was still. I peered down at her, surprised. Sonia gazed into my eyes, her face calm—too calm. Then she nodded slowly, looking at me with an expression that was not the one I was anticipating. She smiled. Shock coursed through me. This human, this princess who was my prize—why did it feel like she had held me? I, the last dragon, for the first time in my life was uncertain.
