Episode 1
Chapter 1
Miles stopped at a coffee shop. It was a busy morning. He rushed into the coffee shop, lost in thought.
As he turned a corner, he collided with a woman. Apologies were exchanged. Their eyes met. Sophia's hands held a large portfolio case and a coffee. Miles quickly steadied her, preventing a spill.
Their eyes locked. And there was a spark of recognition. Miles recognized Sophia from the charity gala.
Sophia recalled Miles's captivating smile.
"Hey, aren't you...?" Sophia started.
"Miles" he confirmed.
Sophia's cheeks flushed.
"I'm Sophia,"she said.
Miles's eyes crinkled.
"Nice to see you again, Sophia" Miles said. The moment was awkward yet intriguing.
As they parted ways, Miles felt a spark, he couldn't quite explain it.
Sophia seemed charmed. Their brief encounter left a lasting impression.
After they had coffee, Miles and Sophia stood on the sidewalk, chatting. Suddenly, a speeding car veered onto the sidewalk.
Sophia, distracted, didn't notice. Miles reacted instinctively, he pushed Sophia out of harm's way but he wasn't fast enough.
The car struck him, sending him flying. Sophia screamed, rushing to Miles's side.
Sophia's tears fell onto Miles's face. "Why did you do that?"Sophia asked.
Miles's voice weakened.
"I'll be fine "Miles said. The paramedics arrived, sirens blared and he was rushed to the hospital. Sophia followed suit, guilt and worry etched on her face.
At the Hospital Waiting Room, Sophia paced, awaiting news. Guilt consumed her. As Sophia gazed at Miles's
face, something shifted. Regret and gratitude mixed.
After the diagnosis, the doctor emerged.
"He'll be fine, just a few bruises" The doctor said.
Sophia's world crumbled. She left an apology note and left. Miles had been anticipating her presence till the doctor gave him the note.
After a few months away from the incident, a well meaning friend of his, Alex, was getting married. Alex's bachelor party and wedding planning were underway.
Miles received an unexpected invitation, he hesitated, but Alex insisted. The evening arrived. Miles walked into the vibrant venue.
Alex introduced him to Emily. Emily sparkled with charm and beauty and Miles's politeness hid his disinterest. Emily and Miles chatted. Forced laughter and small talk filled the air.
Suddenly, Miles's mind wandered to Sophia. Comparison was unfair, but inevitable. Emily sensed Miles's distraction and she asked, "Is everything okay? You seem distant."He revealed his disinterest and she appreciated his sincerity.
Miles appreciated Emily's kindness. Alex approached, curious about the setup.
Miles reassured him, "No hard feelings, buddy."
Alex grinned.
"I just wanted to help."
Miles smiled.
"I know, thanks."
Miles departed. Sophia still occupied his heart.
He started getting feelings of uncertainty and regret. Why did he let her go? Was she okay? Did she ever think of him?
Miles's mind swirled with questions.
He tried social media but there was nothing.
Miles checked into The Grand Hotel for a business conference.
As he entered the lobby, he scanned the area. Familiar laughter caught his attention.
It was Sophia, her eyes sparkled, oblivious to Miles's gaze.
Miles's heart skipped a beat. He approached, hesitant. Awkward silence dissolved into smiles. They sat together, lost in conversation.
Miles learned Sophia was attending a writers' workshop. As the evening unfolded, they relocated to the hotel lounge.
Drinks and stories flowed. Laughter echoed through the room. The hotel's opulence faded into the background.
Miles and Sophia rediscovered each other and their connection remained strong.
As Sophia reached for her glass, their hands touched. Electricity sparked. Miles's eyes locked onto Sophia's. Unspoken emotions hung.
After the conference meeting, Miles planned a romantic dinner at his penthouse apartment.
Candlelight, flowers, and a breathtaking Manhattan view.
Sophia arrived, radiant in a red dress.
As they sipped wine and shared laughter Miles mustered courage. He wanted Sophia to know his true intentions.
"Sophia" Miles began, his voice low and sincere.
"I've never felt this way about anyone."
He took her hand.
"I want you to be my girlfriend."
Sophia's eyes sparkled.
Miles's heart sank. Had he misread their connection?
But Sophia's expression changed.
A soft smile spread.
"Yes, Miles" Sophia whispered.
Miles's relief turned to joy. He swept Sophia into his arms and their lips met in a tender kiss. She was his first girlfriend.
The city lights twinkled outside.
Their love story began. As they pulled back, Miles's eyes locked onto Sophia's.
Their love was sealed. A few months into their relationship. Miles arrived at Sophia's apartment, flowers in hand, expecting a romantic evening.
Instead, he found Sophia in the arms of another man. Miles's world crumbled.
"Sophia?" Miles whispered, his voice shaking.
Sophia's eyes widened, guilt written across her face.
"Miles, I..."Sophia stuttered.
The stranger quickly exited, leaving Miles and Sophia alone.
"How could you?" Miles demanded, anger and hurt mixing.
Sophia's tears flowed.
"I'm sorry, Miles. It was a mistake." Sophia pleaded.
Miles's eyes narrowed.
"A mistake? You've been lying to me for months" Miles spat.
Sophia's face contorted.
"I love you, Miles, but..." Sophia trailed off.
"But what?" Miles interrupted."You needed excitement? Someone else's attention?"
Sophia's tears continued, but Miles's empathy was gone.
"It's over" Miles declared, turning to leave.
Sophia rushed after him.
"Miles, please forgive me!" Sophia begged.
Miles's voice was cold.
"You've broken my trust. I'll never go back." Miles had become cold and devoid of emotions ever since.
