It’s been a few days since Ema has joined the Sakamaki household. After Laito’s mini episode, the three completed their shopping list of acquiring a crib, stroller, clothes, food, accessories, diapers, monitors, toys, etc.. Now, after feeding and changing the baby girl, Yui is wandering around the manor planning to go outside for some fresh summer air. Ema is already dressed for the weather in her new sun dress and hat to keep the harsh rays away from her eyes and face which Laito picked out himself. It was a beautiful day and none of the brothers should be up and about around this time, favoring to come out during late afternoon. Yui decides to take this time for herself and Ema by showing her the garden. She didn’t expect to see the youngest Sakamaki out there so early, however. “Good morning, Subaru-Kun.” She greets. The vampire teen only glares harshly at the girl, in doing so Yui immediately stops, gripping Ema tightly in fear of Subaru-Kun having one of his nasty outbursts. Subaru quickly registers what he is doing and relaxes his facial features and goes back to tending the roses that match his hair. Yui also relaxes, and continues to cautiously make her way over, ready to make a mad dash if necessary. She stood next to the vampire with snow white hair. “Your roses are beautiful, like always.” Yui spoke to fill the silence. The baby in her arms took an interest in the roses and tries to reach down to grab at it. Thinking quickly, Yui shifted Ema in her arms to where she couldn’t touch the torn-bearing roses. “I know they’re pretty, baby, but you need to look not touch.” Subaru remains silent glancing at the girl and the child babbling in her arms. He grimaces and clenches his fist, effectively putting Yui on edge before the young male disappears. Yui blinked in confusion at the spot that was previously occupied by the vampire with white hair and glowing red eyes. What was that about? Did she annoy him? The teenage girl could only wonder, and hopes to apologize if and when she had the chance to do so. Quickly moving on, the two blondes went about the rest of the morning walking around to admire nature at its finest. … Hours pass, and it was about 3PM. The brothers should be coming out to play about now. Of course, the first to usually to find her is Ayato. “Hey, Pancake! I’m hungry, give me your blood.” He demands, barging in to the girl’s room disregarding what she could be doing at that moment. And at the moment, Yui was found changing Emma’s diaper for the fifth time that day. The red head quickly lost his appetite thinking of his food being remotely close to poop or anything of the sort. Without another word he left, and in his place came Laito. He struts up just as Yui finishes changing Ema. He appears before the baby girl who instantly smiles at the sight of the fedora-wearing vampire. The minute he picks her up out of Yui’s hands, the baby girl squeals in delight. Yui in turn giggles watching her adopted daughter and the vampire teen spin around the room. Unfortunately, the fun came to a halt when a loud bang made the two teens jump, and the little girl cry in alarm. Yui quickly collects the crying infant and begins rocking her to reassure the baby girl that everything is alright. Laito, on the other hand, decides to go investigate to see what disturbed his time with the precious child. Why isn’t he surprised when he sees Subaru’s arm going through another wall not too far from Yui’s door? He is about to tell his youngest half sibling to have his mood swings elsewhere when Yui peeks from around Laito’s form. “What wrong Subaru-Kun?” She asks, her voice giving away her genuine concern laced with fear. The white hair vampire shoots a glare at the two. What the hell is wrong with him? His eyes quickly go from his brother, to Yui, to the tiny human in her arms. “Subaru-Kun, she asked you a question. Don’t be rude.” Laito comments, already knowing that instead of answering Yui’s question, the little scaredy-cat would run away again. And he did, which is not surprising. Oh well, more fun for him. “Back to play time, right, Little Mama?” Laito asked, silently vowing to never use profanity in the presence of Ema again, taking said infant from Yui’s arms once more and walking back inside. Yui could only nod while staring at the gaping hole Subaru left in the hard wall. She dismisses it by shaking her head and follows the vampire in the black fedora. … It is dinner time in the Sakamaki household, 5PM to be exact, and Yui made it a habit to put Ema down for a nap whenever the family got together like this, but she always has a baby monitor on her person just in case she needs to excuse herself. “I wish Ema could join us for dinner, right Little b***h?” Laito said, openly speaking to the teen mom. “She taking a nap, Laito-Kun.” “I’m going to wake her up.” He joked, hoping to elicit a reaction. “Don’t do that! She’s going to be upset that you woke her! Laito-Kun!” Laito chuckled at Yui puffing our her cheeks at him, seriously believing that he would do such a thing. “I’m joking. I know the little one needs her rest.” He assures and returns to his food. “Oh, I forgot that disgusting creature is still amongst us.” Reiji spat, sending glares in Yui’s direction. Laito helps ease her tension by resting his palm on her knee and keeping it there to reassure Yui that he is right beside her. “With how you spoke Reiji, I thought you were speaking of Shuu.” Did he just? He did. Oh lord. Reiji fixes his glasses using his large, gloved hand to also cover the lower part of his face, but failing to conceal his growing smirk. The others, mainly Ayato, didn’t even try as he laughs obnoxiously loud at his eldest brother’s expense. The eldest simply sighs, and after finishing his meal he vanishes to only God knows where. Reiji concludes dinner, and left to return to his study. The other two triplets went about to do whatever they saw fit as well. Laito decides to also go ahead of Yui, saying he has a date. At this, the girl playfully rolls her eyes before getting up to check on Ema. “Hey, you.” Yui stops. What on earth could she have possibly done? The high school girl turns around to face the youngest brother in the manor. His ivory hair and ruby red eyes pierces straight through the girl as he marches right up to her. Before he would be right on top of her she did the only thing she could think of, “I’m so sorry!” She apologizes, “You’re angry with me because I disturbed you this morning, by taking Ema to show her the garden, right? If so, please forgive me, I won’t let it happen again. Damn, this made it that much harder for the young vamp. Grumbling, he told the girl to raise her. Yui refuses to do so until she is sure that she has been forgiven which irritated the male even more. “Look, there’s nothing to apologize for! I just wanted to hold the stupid baby, okay!” Wait, what did he say? Hearing this, Yui looks up so fast that it shocks him that she didn’t get whiplash. Her eyes scan his face, searching his blood red eyes for anything false only to see nothing but the truth. The prideful vampire could only turn away with a light blush contrasting his white skin before groaning, “Y’know what, forget it! Didn’t want to hold her that badly anyway.” He grumbles. Panicking, Yui quickly grabs a hold of his shirt effectively stopping him. At this point she didn’t care what the consequences were for touching his person, but instead she looks up at him with a grin. “Subaru-Kun, if you wanted to hold Ema, all you had to do was ask.” She says not being able to hold back a giggle. Subaru’s blush increases tenfold, reaching all the way up to the tips of his ears and down his neck. “W-What are you laughing for, i***t!” He is acting too cute for Yui not to burst out in a fit of laughter. After her laughing fit subsides, Yui led the embarrassed young Subaru to her bedroom where Ema babbles and giggles, found playing with her new toys in her play pen. Laito must’ve woken her up after all. But after the fashion forward vampire took them shopping, Yui’s room no longer looks like her room but more like a nursery with Laito queen-size bed in it instead, Laito even needed to buy a new dresser and wardrobe just for Ema’s clothes and baby supplies. Subaru is surprised by how much it changed, having not entered the girl’s room since Ema’s arrival. Yui promptly went over to where Ema played in her pen and scoops the girl into her arms. Subaru stood awkwardly by the bed, slightly anxious of what is about to unfold. As Yui walks over to Subaru, bouncing a jolly Ema in her arms while cooing at her and smiling, Subaru contemplates something. What if he dropped her? What if he is too rough, and hurts her? Is this even okay? For all his life, Subaru felt that his hands caused nothing but pain and agony, he didn’t want to be the cause of another’s suffering. “Stop!” He shouts, startling the two girls. He’s done it again. Just screw it all. “What’s wrong Subaru-Kun?” Yui questions, cautiously taking a step forward. She braces herself when she sees the pain and fear trapped behind his eyes. “Please tell me. Let me help you.” “What could you do huh?” He laughs, pitifully. “More than you think.” Yui assures with confidence that came out of thin air. “Please, tell me what’s wrong.” She repeats. Subaru shakes his head and brings up his hands to stare at them, all the callouses and marks from things he’s destroyed, purposely or not. “I destroy the things I touch.” He whispered. Yui stays silent, processing his words. Subaru took this as her agreeing with him and huffed in fake amusement, “Go on, tell me. Say I’m a monster!” “No!” She yells back. Subaru clenches his jaw wanting to argue. “You’re not a monster!” Yui yells again hoping to get through to him, but he only turns his gaze away; Yui refuses to let him ignore her or her words and moves towards him and places her hand gently on to his cheek to look him in the eye. “You’re not a monster. And you don’t destroy everything you touch,” She reaches down to clasp her free hand with his and rests it on to her own cheek, “you are someone who is trying their best to be understood- someone who wants to be understood.” Yui tells him. “But that takes time and the right person,” Yui explains while pulling away, “and if you don’t want that person to be me, then at least you’ll have Ema.” Yui shifts to her side so that the child could fully look up and stare at the young man before her. Red clashes with blue, soon blending. Subaru swallows down any overwhelming emotion and swore to himself not to show weakness. “I-Is it okay if I hold her?” He asked, embarrassed by his own stutter, having his right hand scratch at the back of his neck. Yui giggles. “Of course it is.” Yui then shows Subaru how to hold little Ema comfortably with two hands to make sure she wouldn’t fall. After a couple of minutes, Subaru got the hang of it. It is amazing how something so delicate, so fragile is in his arms at this moment. Yui nods in approval after seeing the awe and disbelief wash over Subaru’s and decides to excuse herself to the en suite. Alone in the bedroom now, Subaru quietly plays with the baby girl in his arms. He makes funny faces, let’s her play with his cheeks, and even flashed his fangs for her. Hey, he isn’t perfect, but he did make a vow silently that night. A promise that no harm would ever come to his delicate baby girl in his arms.
