Vengeance

461 Words
My Father stopped drinking like he promised to my mother, I guess for about a month. My mother was happiest of all, that is what she was asking and praying to God since a long time and it's was heard finally. Little did we know that God has planned something else for us. My father's addiction would come back with vengeance. It was winter season and I was preparing for my exams. The only subject that scared me was mathematics. On the day of my exam after so many months my father said "today I will drop my baby girl to school", I can never express the amount of happiness I was feeling at that time. Yaayy really daddy, it's been so many months you dropped me to school, I so happy. I know princess, since you are working hard for exams I thought to give you a surprise, you can call it as a motivation for your exams. I was dumbstruck for a moment, I mean my father has planned a surprise for me. Due to his illness he couldn't do give any surprises for sometime for which I don't blame him because he always stood by my side no matter which condition he was. But today he said he has a surprise for me my happiness know no boundaries. There is one condition, promise me that you will write your exam well then only I will give you that surprise - my father said. Promise dad, I will write all my exams well, I said I finished my exam and I was waiting for my father to pick me up from school. My father was never late to pick me up from school except today, I wondered why? After a while, I saw my uncle (my mother's second brother Cary) came for me. He said let's go we are going to our house (the housing society where we used to live previously). I was so happy thinking that my father might have planned something really big that's why we were going to our favourite place. When I reached there I saw a small gathering of crown from a distance, and asked what happened. My uncle said let's go. I got down from the car in front of the car. One of my cousin came and hugged me and said don't worry (he was crying) I did not know what was happening, when someone took me few steps further into the garden. The scene which I saw that day, still brings me chills even today. My father was lying on the garden floor. STILL, COLD, DEAD. He was not moving, and it took a lot of time for me to process that my father left us, he died. * To be continued *
