Alpha Of Darkness

Chapter 3

I've been over the file and there's only 3 locations. Apparently there is over a dozen relics but they are having issues locating them. The relics are hard to find and I hope they aren't like the one that was by my pack.

" Nah. " Ethu says. " None of these locations are sealed away nephalem. "

" You can tell. "

" Of course. I can sense where every single one of them are. I can also sense what creatures are compatible. Like that girl Sylvie and Josh, they are both compatible with one of the nephalem's. "

" Really. "

" Yea, for you and me it was just luck that we came together. "

" Luck huh. "

* Flashback *

" Where'd she go. "

" Hurry up and find her. "

They are really close. I tried to run right right after he told me but Flik our beta saw me, now half the fighters are chasing me. I'm almost at the end of our territory. I just need to run as fast as I can.

I slide to a stop and hide behind the a tree. I peak out and see three wolves pacing around. s**t. They are waiting for me. I make a run in a different direction. I've never been this far from the pack. I don't know where I am.

I continue running and still hear yelling behind me. I slow down when I see ruins of a castle. I look behind me quickly and then head for the ruins. I can see a old doorway and run inside it. I can hear them and they are close.

I look down the dark tunnels that the door led to. I panic and just run down one of them. It doesn't matter what tunnel I go to, they will be able to smell me. I continue to run down the tunnel and run into something.

I fall back and feel around. A door. I look for a handle and open it. This is like some horror movie stuff. I find a handle and open the door. I feel my way in and close the door. Suddenly candles light up and I jump.

The whole room lights up and I can see everything. I look at the door and it has tons of locks. I quickly lock every single one and step back and let out a sigh of relief. I look around to see if I can find a weapon.

I see a small chest on a pedestal and walk over to it. I pick up the chest and inspect it. It has chains wrapped around it, and they are locked together with a weird lock. I pick at the lock and it just falls off and so do the chains.

Must of been an old lock. I open the chest and see a purple gem, it has a weird swirling black smoke in it. I pick it up to look at it closely. Why am I so fascinated by this gem. I loud bang on the door makes me jump and I jump.

I drop the gem and it cracks. No. I kneel down and pick up the gem. The banging continues, but the fear I had about it disappears. All my fear disappears. The gem shatters in my hand and the black smoke fills the room. It swarms around me and soon everything I see is black.

* End of flashback *

" I remember it like it was yesterday. "

I sigh. " Yea it was fun. You fused with me and I woke up at the academy. "

" Okay maybe not the academy part, but everything else was fun. "

" What is it with me. I still don't get that well along with you, and Ethu is dormant. "

" Yea, okay that's true. But we are trying right. "

I sigh. " Yes. "

My ringer goes off and I look at it. Dammit, its time for us to leave. I grab my bags and head for Micheal's office. I don't even knock and walk in. All my 'team members' look at me stunned.

Micheal sighs. " Can you please knock. "

I shrug.

He shakes his head. " So the first location you guys are going to is Rivershire. There is a wolf pack there called the Oasis Howlers. I have have sent word that you guys will visiting just to rest, and then you'll be one your way in a few days. "

" Oh Lilith. " Glenda says in a raspy voice. " You will need to listen to your wolf. "

I glare at her. How the hell does she know about me and my wolf.

She continues. " Your wolf will be able to sense it. I know werewolves have a strong connection to their wolves. "

Oh she doesn't know.

* Hours later. *

All six of us, plus the driver are in a mini van. Flynn, Sylvia and Josh are in the back. Ertha is sitting beside me and Kendra is in the front. I can already tell this is going to suck.

Micheal went on for hours about the mission, and now we are headed for the airport. Sylvie has been staring at me non-stop. I think she is a fan. I want to finish this as fast and go back to my work.

I don't like having a team. Its to dangerous, i'm not sure I can control Thoelia. She is to uncontrollable and viscous.

Sylvie leans over the seat. " Hi. "

I nod.

" I'm happy to be working with you. "

I nod again.

" I'm a healer. I was taught under Damek. I'm still a little rusty on some spells, but I hope to get better. "

I nod.

Josh sighs and pulls her back. " Shes not a talker Syl. Stop pressing. "

I can tell shes pouting. " I just want to get to know her, she didn't join us for viewing the files. "

" For someone who admires her, you don't really know much huh. Shes not much of a talker, and she does her missions quick and efficiently. She doesn't like to work in groups and will probably try to finish this as quick as possible. "

He's right on this one.

" Didn't she have a team before. " Flynn says.

I stiffen.

" Yea, but no one knows what happened. They were doing an undercover mission and they say it went wrong. " Sylvia says.

" They all lived right. " Josh says hoping for a yes.

I either she shook her head, or made a face because they stopped talking. We finally reach the airport and grab our stuff.

" So we are going to where exactly again. " Kendra asks.

" Hmm. " Josh pulls out a paper from his bag. " Rivershire. The first destination of our mission. "

" Rivershire. " Kendra grins. " Known for its beautiful and colorful rivers, and rich in culture. " She chuckles slightly. " And gorgeous men. "

Ertha groans. " Is that all you can think of. "

" Hey! I'm not married like you. "

I turn and look at Ertha.

She looks at me concerned. " What. " She says nervously. "

I look away and shake my head. " You shouldn't be here. "

" Why. " She says offended.

" Family. "

" Just because I have family doesn't mean I can't do this. "

I walk up to her and look at her in the eyes. " Did Micheal warn you about this. I heard his briefing and he didn't really explain much. You can get killed. "

" I know and I can protect myself. "

I look her up and down. " Not from me. I thought he would've told you. My last team was killed. "

" Yea, we know. " Sylvie says trying to sound apologetic.

I sigh and shake my head. " Whatever. If any of you die its not my fault. "

I head for the plane and they soon follow.
