The next morning came early for Aalyiah. She headed downstairs to make sure everyone was doing the assigned tasks that she trained them for. Today was the day that she would be leaving here. She just had to wait for the moon to phase. She can’t wait to see how beautiful Queenie will be.
With a smile on her face and a pep in her step, Aalyiah heads into the kitchen. She sees the new omegas already there smiling. “Good morning ladies! Hope you had a rest last night and are ready for the last day of your training. As of tomorrow, all of this responsibility will be handed over.”
“Yes, Aalyiah, we are prepared. We have talked about it and wondered if maybe we could actually leave with you? We want to do more than just clean and cook. I have my wolf, Lena, who says I should follow you wherever you go,” Megan said. She was cautious, not wanting to overstep her bounds, knowing that Aalyiah is the strongest person she had ever met. Lena kept telling her to always follow Aalyiah no matter where she went.
Natalie nodded her head in agreement with Megan. She isn’t as vocal as most but she has her beliefs, that she can’t back away from. “We promise not to get in your way, Aalyiah,” She says softly, afraid of offending anyone.
Aalyiah smiles and nods her head, “I will never turn someone away who is wanting to better themselves. It seems that it is meant for the three of us to stay together. We will find others to replace us today but tonight I will phase for the first time and I am ready to leave. Will you be ready to leave tonight?”
Both girls nodded eagerly. They never thought they would be able to get away from here. Just knowing that this is the last day in this pack makes them happier. It seems that following their wolves' thoughts is the best thing they can do. Everyone is taught from a young age that their wolf will always have their best interest at heart.
As the day progresses each one does their own jobs and duties while picking someone to teach to follow behind them. After dinner and clean up the three meet up to head into the woods together.
Aalyiah listens as Queenie tells her what she needs to do, “Just remember to relax and let me guide you. Most hurt during transition because they fight the shift. If you just let go things will go quickly and it won’t hurt as much, also the ladies will join us in our shift. I have already spoken to their wolves, we will be a small pack til we can find somewhere we all agree to call home. So no worries about going rogue.” Queenie kept talking to Aalyiah the whole way to the lake. That was the spot that Aalyiah loved the most and wanting to have her last memories here there.
As they get closer to the lake the moon seems to be getting brighter, “Aalyiah are you ready to let your wolf come forward?” Megan asks.
Aalyiah nods her head, she sits on the ground and closes her eyes, focusing on Queenie. Letting her body relax and her consciousness seems to slowly recede as Queenie steps forward. After a moment everything changes. Aalyiah opened her eyes and was surprised. Looking around she could see everything clearly, noticing the stares of Megan and Natalie. Titling her head to the side in confusion at their stare.
Megan and Natalie look at each other then back to Aalyiah before taking a knee in reverence. Aalyiah was completely confused, “Queenie, what's going on? Why are they bowing to me? Did something happen during my shift that isn’t good?”
Queenie laughs, “Darling, you are okay. Our friends have just realized who we really are and they are amazed and treated like you should be treated. I told you before we are meant for better than this pack. We have a high calling that most will never amount to in their lifetime. Don’t worry, I will be here to help guide you to where you need to be. It is time for a change for all packs and you will lead that change, Aalyiah. You are our Queen, you were descended from the mood Goddess herself. She created you and me to help her children. She sees their struggle but she can’t control everything. They have to make their own choices. You have always been more powerful than others around you. They know and try to bring you down. They don’t know how powerful you are but they know that they can't handle going up against you. That is why Alex and his dad have tried to keep you in the dark. You weren’t allowed to go to school so they could control the knowledge you gained. They may not have abused you but they didn’t help you either. Now it is my time to show you who you truly are.”
Focusing back on her friends, Aalyiah smiles. She realizes without them she couldn’t have come as far as she has over the years. These two have always been behind her backing her up without knowing who she was or what she was. That is what a true friend is, she realizes. The friendship with Alex was because they wanted to follow the rules they set up for her. Thinking she was getting special treatment she noticed it was special but not in the way they made her think. She will never back down again to anyone. It is time for her to shine and let who she is seen by the world.
“Queenie, I am ready to step forward. I would like to speak to Megan and Natalie,” Queenie nods and steps back mentally letting Aalyiah come forward. The change was completed in less than a minute. “Please, get up. I don’t need you to bow to me. I am still the same person I have always been,” Aalyiah begs gently and shakes her head.
Natalie and Megan look at each other then back to Aalyiah. Not wanting to anger her, they get up, Megan steps forward, “Aalyiah did you know before now? Why keep it a secret? You could control this whole pack!”
Natalie nods in agreement, “Seriously! You would be a better Alpha than Alex for sure!”
“Ladies, I am not interested in taking over this pack. I didn’t even know who I was until now. I told you both that I wanted to leave here to find myself. Now it seems that it is even better this way. I don’t want anyone else to know who I am after we leave here. The less people know the less trouble we will have” Aalyiah has thought about it and doesn’t want everyone to know who she is at one glance. She decided maybe its best not to phase into her wolf in order to leave. Not wanting everyone to know who she is makes it easier for her to go from place to place.
“Aalyiah, you are worrying too much. I can hide who we are when we want to stay secret. I only let our friends know so they will know how important you are to the werewolf world. Otherwise I can hide us easily. I have the power to show or hide who and what we are. You needn’t worry over unnecessary problems.” Queenie laughs and shakes her head.
Letting out a breath she didn’t know she was holding, Aalyiah smiles. So it seems she can still do what she wants without others knowing who she is. She had decided unless her mate truly showed care towards her she wouldn’t let her guard down. It will be someone special that catches her eye. Knowing that her mother picked someone for her helped with some of the doubts, but other thoughts came to mind. Why was she left in this pack? Did the Goddess decide she should grow up this way or did something happen that changed her fate? With so many questions and no one to answer she is left with no answers.
“Are we ready to find a place to call home, ladies? I am ready to get started on this journey with you both! I can’t wait to see what is out there,” Aalyiah smiled at Megan and Natalie who both nod their heads vigorously.
“Let's go! Time to find out what else is out there. Maybe we will all get lucky and find our mates in the same pack so we can stay together forever!” Laughed Megan. She couldn’t wait to find her mate and be in love. It has been her dream since she heard about mates in school.
Natalie smiles and nods, “I am looking forward to learning new things. Maybe I will find my mate, mom always said I was too shy to find a mate and I want to prove her wrong. I just hope he will accept me as I am. I don’t wanna change for someone to see me as I am.”
After a group hug the girls say a quiet prayer to their Goddess to protect and guide them in their new roles. Nodding at each other they head out to the east of the lake. Time to face a new adventure and learn more about themselves. Before they could even make it to the border one of the patrol wolves stopped them, “Where are you going? I haven’t been told that anyone had permission to leave the pack?”
Glancing between each other, Aalyiah steps forward, “Who gave an order taht no one was allowed to leave and when was it put into place? I have never heard that we weren’t allowed to leave the pack? Did something happen to change the rules?”
Faced with so many questions, the patrol wolf shook his head, “Alpha Alex told us all yesterday. I don’t know why the changes took place just what he told me. I have to follow his orders like he is the Alpha. I am just sticking to what I was told, ladies. No one is allowed to leave the pack until the Alpha okays it. Sorry but I need you to go back to the packhouse and finish your duties.”
Aalyiah ground her teeth, she knew exactly what this was about. But she wasn’t about to let it stop her. He thinks he can play games and she will go with whatever he says, but that is where he is wrong. Now that she has Queenie she will no longer bow to his whims and wants. It is time to show everyone that she will NOT be controlled. She will live her life the way she wants to live it. Looking at the patrol, she smiles, “Please, don’t make this more difficult. You know that this rule is just to control me. It never became a problem til I was of age to leave. Why start now? I have no interest in staying here and if you try to prevent me from leaving I will have to take you down and bypass you. I don’t want to hurt anyone so can you please just step aside and pretend you never saw us?”
The wolf shook his head, “I can’t do that, Aalyiah. Alex was very clear that you are not to leave the pack grounds for anything. It was an alpha command, I can’t just disregard it.”
Queenie speaks up to Aalyiah, “If it is an alpha command we can change it slightly. We can make it to where we can leave but no one else can and Alex wouldn’t be able to change it again. We could take his power away for good.”
Aalyiah thinks about what Queenie is saying, but doesn’t feel comfortable with taking others' choices away. “Can we just bypass him and keep going or do we need to alter the Alpha command?”
Queenie, understanding Aalyiah, lets her aura out a little to show who the true power is between all of them and the patrol. Noticing the aura directed at him the patrol slowly backs down, keeping his head lowered. If he doesn’t see them leave then no one will know. He glances at Aalyiah before running off in the opposite direction.
