Along the walk, the girls start seeing little homes spread out around them. They are different colors and have different plants surrounding them. The smiles on their faces were contagious for Pat. He kept his eyes on the girls as they walked towards the packhouse. He linked his Beta and Gamma, "Hey guys! I found our Luna! We are headed towards the packhouse now."
Aaliyah looks around in awe. She can't believe this is going to be her pack. She had longed for a place as beautiful, to know that she could even train makes this pack even more amazing. She couldn't believe that it was only her old pack that had those old-fashioned beliefs. It's a wonder no one has come across her pack in years. She can't remember the last time anyone came to visit. Something for her to worry about later, there were too many things around begging for her attention. She looks up at Pat and smiles, "This place is amazing! It looks like everyone has their own ideas for the space. It is comforting to see so many differences in the open."
Pat, worried about how bad her old pack was, "Aaliyah, how bad was the treatment in your old pack?"
Aaliyah looks at Nat and Meg before she responds, "It wasn't as bad as I am sure some packs are. Women were only allowed to cook and clean. Not many had found their mates yet, so it was mostly us younger females who had to do all the cleaning and cooking. We were never allowed to train. We were too delicate to defend our pack and should be kept safe. We weren't allowed to cross the border, everything was ordered and inspected before being handed to the person. There were no secrets from the Alpha. He held a tight control over everyone. The worst punishment that I remember being received, was a week in a cage with only water." She let out a shaky sigh, she remembers that week very vividly. It was a memory she wished would go away soon. She had no idea how long she could have stayed down there.
Pat pauses at her words, he can feel a shimmer of her feelings through their shared bond. He knew she was the one punished and still carried the weight of it on her shoulder. Wrapping his arm around her shoulders, Pat pulled Aaliyah closer to his body, "That doesn't happen here. I like to give everyone a choice about what they want to do with their lives. I am a huge supporter of free will. We are all meant for different things. Not every man can be a warrior and not every woman wants to cook and clean. There are many things in between for everyone to be happy. May I ask what caused a punishment as severe as no food and in a cage for a week?"
Aaliyah closed her eyes at his closeness. Hearing him talk about his pack gave her a hopeful feeling that things will be happier here. She can't wait to meet people and start learning her way around. Hearing his hesitant question, Aaliyah sighs,"I told Aplha that I did not want to mate with his son. He was very angry and called me many names. I would not give up my stance against chosen mates."
Pat stops and pulls Aaliyah into his arms, "I am glad you didn't give in to his demands, even though I could rip him apart for what he did to you in return. You deserve nothing but care and love. No one should try to tell you who you will mate with. Our Goddess always knows best. Why question her will?"
Wrapped in Pat's arms was a heavenly feeling, Aaliyah could stay like this for hours. Taking a deep breath of his scent, she smiles and kisses the corner of Pat's mouth. "I knew my mate was worth waiting for. He would complete me in ways no one else can. I wasn't about to give up my lifetime of happiness for anyone else."
Pat smiles and blushes, "You are too precious for anyone, I am blessed to call you mine."
The path opens into a huge open space, you can see buildings in the distance that look like a small town, but straight ahead was a beautiful house. It looked four stories tall, and had an old rustic appearance on the outside. You could tell it has been kept up over the years and updated as needed to keep it up to date.
