Campus
"I'm finally leaving town. It's time for a new life," said Arlo to himself as he sighed. After two hours on the train, he finally got there. He had never seen so many buildings before; he grew up in the countryside, rarely going outside.
"Mmh! What an ugly sight." He loved it when trees were everywhere. Dragging his heavily packed suitcase, he walked his way to the campus, looking down. You could think he was counting his steps.
"Oohhh, look at that," a tall girl from a distance with beautiful short blonde hair pointed at him, showing her two friends. They all laughed at how he walked.
"Why is he looking down?" one said as they laughed.
"He must be new," said Bobby. "Should we go help him? He's struggling with the suitcase, and he most likely doesn't know his way."
They all stood up and walked towards him. Arlo felt a sudden, bold touch on his head and stopped, feeling scared. He lifted his head and saw three girls smiling at him, with one playing with his hair.
"Heyyyy! You a freshman?" said Greer as she put her arm around his shoulders while playing with his hair.
"She's so tall," Arlo thought. "What do they want?" He got a little worried; he was almost shaking.
"We'll show you the way. Follow us," Cleo said, showing a bit of attitude. They walked him all the way to the first-year rooms and helped him get settled.
"We'll see you around, kiddo," Greer said, throwing her hand in the air.
"Shouldn't we have helped him get his things to his room?"
"It's the boys' dormitories, Greer. We shouldn't be there," said Bobby.
Arlo watched them walk as their bodies faded into the distance.
