THERON SMILED LIKE an i***t, feeling oddly complimented by Leah's lusty remark. As much as he hated to admit it, he had truly missed the easy rapport they'd shared in those first few days. Since he had vowed to remain as distant as possible, rejecting her attempts at creating any conversation between them, he had felt so alone. Still, he couldn't let his guard down. Then another thought came to him. Just because he joined in occasional conversation didn't mean he had to fall in love with her and relinquish his immortality.
