Chapter 1- The First Dream

1433 Words
Katie’s POV                                                                                                                                         The snow from this winter had completely faded and made way for the flowers to bloom. I was sitting in my bedroom, looking out of my bay window over the lake that our pack had built itself around.               My name is Kathryn Grace Delisle, I am the daughter of Beta James Thomas Delisle, and Margaret Jane Delisle. I am 17 years old and have grown up as a part of the Stone Lake Pack. I am the smallest female in our pack, aside from the children. I am 4 feet 11 inches tall, and weigh all of 95 pounds. I have dark brown wavy hair, and fuchsia eyes. For real, who has ever heard of fuchsia eyes? What is even more weird is my dad’s eyes are honey colored, just like his mom and dad, and my mom has crystal blue eyes. I don’t know about my mom’s parents because, well, she never talks about them. She has never even told me if they are dead or alive. ANYHOW… back on topic…               I am currently sitting in my bay window, looking out over the lake. Stone Lake.  I actually sat here to relax and read, when something out by the lake caught my attention. There were, what looked like two women arguing, but with the angle of the sun on the lake, it was difficult to make out who it was. I go back to my book, not thinking anything of the two women. After about an hour, my eyes start to get heavy. I look at the clock, 5:55pm, really? That’s it. I get up and go down to the packhouse dining room for dinner and as I sit down at the table, Luna Jaquelyn and the female Gamma Shelly walk in from the back yard. Neither one of them is saying a word to the other which is odd. The Luna comes and joins everyone who has already sat down at the table ready for dinner.               “Good evening, everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful day,” she almost sings, as if nothing at all is wrong with the world. “Katie, how was school today? Were you and David placed together on that science project?”               “School was school Luna, and no, Mr. Nowaski did not put us together for the project, he put David with a kid named Andrew that lives in the city, “I answered.               “Poor David, I guess he will have to actually do his own work for once, “she giggled, and David growled.               “It’s really not funny, Mom! Andrew doesn’t bathe, if it wasn’t for the fact that he was human, he could pass himself off as a rogue, “David whined. The Luna just laughed harder. David huffed and threw himself back into his chair with his arms crossed, like a toddler throwing a tantrum.               Once we all calmed down from laughing at David’s hilarious misfortune of the day, we all said our goodbye’s and went to get ready for bed.               As I went upstairs, I passed by the Gamma’s door, I heard shouting from inside, and heard Gamma Shelly yell, “It’s all her fault!” Not having any clue of who, or what, she was talking about, I continued walking to the condo that I shared with my parents. As I make it inside, there is a note on the table: Katie,               Dad and I have some business to attend to and will be gone until the end of the week. Please make sure to have the omegas pick up the laundry on Thursday. We love you honey!!   Love, Mom I smiled at the fact that mom left me a note, and then I frowned, wondering why they didn’t just link me to let me know they were leaving. Did they not want to see me? Afraid I would ask questions about where they were going? Oh well, too late now.                 I walked into the bathroom and started pulling my hair down, brushed my teeth, and decided to just wait until morning to take a shower, they help me wake up anyway. I climbed into bed, ready for a good night’s sleep, but what I got was anything but!                 I was walking through the forest and saw a flickering light; the light was moving through the shadows. As I was following the light, I heard voices. I couldn’t make out who it was though. All of a sudden, I heard an ear-piercing scream, and I started to run. The light disappeared and I kept running in the direction of where I heard the scream, and last saw the light. The night air was cool, and the ground was wet, as I made my way toward where the noise came from, I saw a figure laying on the ground. As I approach there was no movement, not even the wind dared to blow where this person was lying. As I got closer, I saw blood pooling out onto the shirt this person was wearing. I ran up to them to help get them up, but as I turned the body over I am frozen in fear. “Luna,” I whispered, as I hear a powerful growl come from behind me, I quickly turn around and see the Alpha running towards us, it is as if he doesn’t even see me. He picks the Luna up from the ground and runs in the direction of the pack hospital. I follow the Alpha as fast as my feet will carry me, but I am not fast enough to keep up. I play through the events in my head that I witnessed as I make my way into the hospital, and up to the Alpha’s floor. As I reach their door, it is open, and I slowly push It further open, wanting to make sure that the Luna is alright. What I find shocks me, I see Alpha Michael, broken down on his knees, crying and fighting his wolf for control. As I begin to take in my surroundings, I hear a steady beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.                 My eyes flew open, facing my bedside table I see my clock says 2 am. I am pouring sweat to the point that my sheets are soaked and need to be changed. I crawl out of bed, strip my sheets, and replace them with new ones. I decide to take a shower, hoping to wash off the bad juju from the dream. While I am standing under the scalding hot water trying to relax my muscles, my mind drifts off to my dream, trying to find out who would want to hurt the Luna and why. Could it have been just a situation where she was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was attacked by a rogue? Why was she walking around alone at night in the first place? I shook my head, thinking back to the fact that she was upset at dinner. I just chalked it up to the fact that she seemed off before dinner. Maybe she was one of the women I saw arguing. Or maybe my mind is just running wild.  I shut the water off and wrapped a towel around me and walked back into my room to climb back in bed. I shook all the thoughts from my head as I laid down and went back to sleep. *BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*               I look at my clock, 6:30 am, ugh…. I don’t want to get up. I force myself out of the comfort of my bed and start getting ready for school. Something feels off, could it just be my lack of sleep last night? That doesn’t feel right though, I feel almost… empty? I didn’t understand why I was feeling this way, “It has to be from my lack of sleep, which is the only thing that makes sense,” I try to reassure myself. I finish getting ready, and head down to the dining room for breakfast.               The packhouse, as I make my way downstairs, is quiet. Almost eerily quiet. I kept making my way to the dining room, and when I opened the doors, I see everyone in there looking like death almost. I walk over to one of the Omegas and ask, “Megan, what’s going on? Why do you all look like someone died?” As she looked up at me, tears just spilled down her face, I c****d my head, and her response froze me in my tracks, “Miss Katie, the Luna was murdered!”
