Chapter 13

It has been nearly 3 hours before I heard the secret door, I spotted creak open, then the soft footsteps creeping into the room. Soon I felt his breath on my neck, the smell of his breath made me feel sick to my stomach.   “I will have you; you will become mine.” he whispered into my ear. “You think so?” I asked before quickly pinning him to the bed. “What... How?” He said with a surprised tone. “Karl!” I called while keeping my eyes on Hendrick. “Yes Ma’am?” Karl said as he entered the door. “Men!”   They all quickly rushed into the room grabbing Hendrick before the cuffed him. I got off the bed and got dressed in a pair of Yoga pants and sweater along with a pair of wool socks and my boots. I turned around to see Karl waiting for me.   “What about the other men?” I asked him. “We already took care of them Ma’am.” He said with a smile. “Good, is the car ready to leave?” I asked. “Yes Ma’am. He replied. “Good let’s go before the other men show up.” I said grabbing my bags.   We all piled out and got into the car before taking off at a high speed. We made it home within a few hours. Some of them men got out holding Hendrick and the others grabbed the bags from the back of the car. We all made our way inside to see the surprised faces of my butler and maid.   “Arthur, show these fine men the way to the prison area under the house.” I instructed. “Yes ma’am.” He replied. “This way please.” “Miss would you like me to have Hank make something to eat?” Greta asked. “Yes please, can you please call the King.” I said. “Yes Ma’am.” She said hurrying away.   I got settled and the men settled in the guest rooms when the phone started ringing.   “Hello?” I said. “Your home, I am happy you are safe.” The King said. “Was your mission a success?” “Yes, your highness, very successful.” I said with a smile. “Very good, I will let you get back it than.” He replied. “Thank you.” I said before hanging the phone.   I walked out of the living room to join the others in the kitchen for some food. It was nice to see smiling faces in the house, but it made my mood worsen. I missed Colter more than I could express.   “Karl, I am going to start.” I said. “Come down once you are finished.” “I will eat down there ma’am.” He said. “We will come as well.” They said.   I nodded my head and started making my way down to the cellar where I could hear the muffled screams of Hendrick. As I turned the corner, he spotted me and his eyes went dark. I smiled at him as I went to remove the gag from his mouth. I turned around to get myself a chair as the men moved around leaning against walls as they ate.   “Do you know who I am? Or where you are?” I asked sitting down. “You're a dead bitch.” He spat out as he struggled against his cuffs. “Mm, no I am sorry but that is wrong.” I said as I picked up an electric prod shoving it into his leg. The sound of his scream was the most satisfying thing I have heard in a long time. “Would you like to try one more time?” “I do not know you .” He said through gritted teeth. “Hm, Well does the name Colter Coldwell sound familiar?” I asked.   He looked at me with wide eyes full of surprise before his body started shaking and the anger grew in his eyes.   “How do you know that trashes name?” He spat out. “That trash is the mate I told you about earlier.” I said in an angry tone. “Ah, so you were what he was hiding.” He said with a sick smile. “Karl, do you mind?” I asked taking my seat. “Not at all ma’am.” He said with a smile.   We spent the next 8 hours beating and torturing Hendrick just like he did Colter. It was the best and most satisfying 8 hours I have had in a very long time. Once I got bored, I gave the order for his execution, we burnt his body and buried his ashes. The men cleaned up for me before departing. I went upstairs into my room and showered before getting dressed again for bed. As I laid there, I realized that I couldn’t be here right now. So, I got up and started packing a bag, I was going to leave for a little while, I needed to escape for a little while. After I finished packing, I made my way downstairs going to find Arthur and Greta to inform them of my departure.   “Arthur, I will be leaving for a while can you please keep the house up to par?” I asked him. “Yes ma’am, do you need anything else?” He asked. “No, thank you for being here.” I said. “Safe travels Miss.” He replied. “What should we tell the King?” “Just that I needed to get away.” I said. “As you wish ma’am, we will take good care of your home.” He said opening the front door for me. “I have faith you will, thank you.” I said as I walked out of the door.   It has been 4 months, well at least I think it’s been 4 months I honestly haven’t been keeping track of the time. All I was worried about was traveling around Europe and seeing everything Colter and I talked about in the past. My next stop is Paris France the one place I longed to go to with the love of my life, now I am going alone in his remembrance.     “Miss, may I get you another glass of wine?” The flight attendent asked me. “Yes, Please.” I replied.   She took my glass and pour the wine before handing it back to me.   “I will bring your cheese and meat tray Miss. Is there anything else you’d like?” She asked. “May I have some bread and pastries please?” I asked her. “Yes miss of course.” She replied as she walked away to gather my meal.   I have been on this jet for all of 30 minutes and I already wanted off. The pilot and flight attendent are lovely but I wanted to be far away from all people. As I sat there watching us fly above the clouds it was a stunning site, I knew that I would never become use to the this. Looking back down in at the letter in my hands I bushed my fingers over it, feeling the indentations in the paper from the pressure he put as he wrote these last words to me before he left. Not a day goes by that it does not hurt and I have been trying to run from that, finally I was going to face the pain in the one place we dreamed of going together.   “Here you are miss, we will be landing in about an hour.” She said as she set the tray in front of me. “Thank you.” I replied as I started my meal.   I sat there and ate my food as I watched the movie they provided; it was an odd movie that was made an exceedingly long time ago. After I finished my meal, leaning back in my chair and falling asleep for remainder of my flight.   Colter’s POV “Colter, he is dead.” Paul said as he ran into the room. “How?” I asked getting to my feet quickly. “I am not sure my lord, the King sent word. He also said it is important you come home immediately; it has to do with Rose.” He said. “Let’s go.” I said as I basically ran out of the safe house and to the car.   I watched as Paul jumped into the passenger side before I slammed the gas pelt down racing towards my home, and my mate.   It took us 3 hours to return home, I parked the car and quickly ran towards the door when it opened making my heart jump until I saw the weathered face of Arthur. He looked surprised and then worried. I ran past him and into the house.   “Rose?” I called. There was no reply making my heart race harder. “Mon amour?” “My lord, she is not here.” Arthur said from behind me. “What do you mean she isn’t here?” I growled. “She left 4 months ago Sir.” He said looking down. “Where is she?” I asked through my teeth. “I am unsure my Lord.” He said with a shaky voice. “I am going to the Kings if she comes home call me immediately. “Yes, my lord.” He said opening the door for me.   I walked out of the door and got back into the car speeding to the King’s home, I need to find my Rose, I need to see her face, hear her voice, feel her skin.   “Where is she?” Paul asked. “I do not know, but I will find out.” I growled.   20 minutes of driving we pulled into the King’s driveway. I slammed the car into the park position before running into the house, I was met at the door by the King and Silla. The King looked happy but bothered at the same time.   “Where is she?” I asked. “We do not know; I sent the notice 4 months ago. She left the same night Hendrick was killed.” He explained. “Who killed him?” I asked. “Rosalie did.” Silla said. “What?” I said. “Rose killed him, for you.” She repeated. “Why would she do that?” I asked becoming enraged. “Because we all thought you were dead, well at least some of us did.” Silla said looking at the King. “I thought the plan was to tell her to act like I was dead.” I said looking at him. “I thought it better if she thought you dead.” He said looking down. “So, she could have stayed human if you were only to tell her the truth?” Silla said outraged. “Wait, stay human?” I asked. “She is vampire now, that is how she was able to kill Hendrick. The King turned her himself.” Silla said taking a step away from him. “You did what?” I growled as my body became tense. “It was what she wanted.” The King said holing his hands up. “She only wanted it after you lied to her!” I yelled. “Where is my mate?” “We do not know; she calls in whenever she lands in a new place.” Silla said.   I was about to leave the house when their phone rang, I watched as Silla walked over and answered it.   “Hello?” She said. “Rose. Hold on.”   She pushed the phone out towards me, I took it quickly and put it to my ear hearing her breathing.   “Rosalie?” I asked. “Who is this?” she said with a surprised voice. “Colter.” I replied. “Whoever this is you’re a sick, cruel man and I hope you burn for this!” She said with anger. “Put Silla back on the phone now.” “Please, it is…” I was saying as the line went dead.   I gently put the phone back down and turned to look at the King who’s eyes were full of regret and Silla who looked like her heart was breaking for me.   “She did not believe me.” I said. “I will call the number back, maybe she is there.” Silla said going to the phone.   I walked away and sat in the Foyer area, placing my face in my hands as I began to cry, I have lost her. I have lost the love of my life all because of the King and his selfish ways.   “My friend, I am sorry.” I heard him say. “I am not your friend; I am a member of your court and that is all.” I said standing up. “Please Colter.” He said looking at me.   I turned to leave the house when Silla came running into the room.   “She was gone, but her pilot said they were in Paris.” She said looking at me with a hopeful look. “Thank you, Silla you are a true friend unlike others.” I said before leaving the palace. “Colter.” I heard the familiar voice of my best friend and brother say. “Cameron.” I said looking at his guilty face. “Are you well?” “I am, how?” He asked. “The King lied.” I said hugging him. “Have you heard from Rose?” He asked. “No, but I am about to go find her.” I replied. “Good, I am sorry my brother so sorry.” He said. “Do not be my friend.” I said. “We will be here when you two return home.” He said hugging me one last time. “Bring her home.” “I will.” I said.
