Alex studied him with blue eyes that suddenly looked much older than fourteen, and Luke held his gaze for several moments. Finally, Alex asked, “What if I want to stay with you?”
Luke didn’t hesitate before saying, “Then I’ll welcome you home with open arms.”
“Ryan? Can you come here for a minute?”
Ryan joined them on the couch, watching Alex with concern in her gorgeous green eyes. She didn’t say anything when Alex glanced between her and Luke.
“If you two get married, would you want me?”
She hugged him tightly. “Of course! You’re already a part of my family, Alex, no matter what.”
“Then I want to stay here with you and Luke.”
“You don’t have to make the decision right now, Alex,” Luke said. “Take some time to really think about it.”
