She took the medicine and placed it in her mouth, then she took the water and drank. Afterward, she finished putting on her clothes. The man went to the bedside drawer, opened it, took out a huge stack of cash, and threw it at her.
"Here is the money for your service. I would say it's a pleasure meeting you, but I would be lying. I hope this money can help you start a new life from this one."
Daisy felt both insulted and embarrassed, but she bit her tongue and didn't say anything.
"Now, Get out. I never want to see you ever again," he said and left towards the hotel bathroom.
Daisy didn't say anything. She turned and left the hotel room. When she got outside the door, she closed it behind her and spat out the medicine in her hand. There were traces of it—residue in her mouth, she took the water bottle in her bag and washed it out, then spit it back into the bottle, then closed it and put it away. She headed towards the elevator.
Just as the doors to the elevator closed, she couldn't hold herself anymore. Tears started falling, one after another, until she was full-on sobbing right there in the elevator. Luckily, it was late at night, and nobody else got in with her.
When she reached the lobby, she tried to wipe the tears from her eyes and walked straight outside to her car, where she cried for a very long time. Her virginity and her first love, which she had saved for her lover in the hospital, was given to a stranger. She will never be clean again. Now she could only hope that she would be pregnant and save Dylan's life.
*****************************************
Daisy's prayers seemed to have been fulfilled as luck came her way. A little over a month, she didn't get her period did. Upon examination, she discovered that she was pregnant. Holding the report in her hand, she couldn't help but feel joyous as she looked at the two positive lines.
Daisy was extremely cautious after learning of her pregnancy. She withdrew from her family and everyone else, enduring loneliness until the time of labor. She endured the pain and gave birth to a healthy baby girl.
The baby's loud cry filled Daisy with a sense of hope. After a doctor's examination, it was confirmed that the child's blood matched Dylan's. Realizing that the baby's umbilical cord blood could be used to heal her fiancé, she completely forgot about the twelve hours of labor pain and instantly shed tears of excitement and joy.
"Finally, Dylan can be saved..." Exhausted both physically and mentally, Daisy eventually succumbed to deep sleep.
When she woke up, she found herself in the hospital bed, a nurse approached her with a smile, "Miss Knight, are you awake? Can I help you with anything?"
"Where is my baby?" Daisy looked around but didn't see her child. Worried, she attempted to sit up.
"Don't worry. The baby is being cared for." The nurse helped arrange the pillow behind her.
"Thank you," Daisy said gratefully.
At that moment, the door to the ward opened, and a cheerful voice rang out, "Sister, I'm here."
"Maisy?" Daisy spotted her younger sister, Maisy Knight and smiled.
"Yes, sister, it's me. I'm so happy that you pulled through safely and you're safe now. You have done so much by risking your life for Dylan. I'm sure he appreciates you for saving his life. You worked hard."
"Maisy, how is Dylan? I want to see him." Daisy said.
To keep their plan a secret and prevent anyone else from finding out, she hadn't been to see Dylan for nearly a year and hadn't returned home either. Maisy was the one used dating her on Dylan's well being and covering for her at home.
"Sister, the doctor said he will undergo surgery as soon as possible. My Brother-in-law, Dylan will surely be fine. After his successful surgery, I'll be the first to tell him that it's because of you that he's recovering. I'll also ask him to marry you as soon as possible so that I can have some luck too." Maisy held Daisy's hand, her face filled with a smile and she looked very happy.
Marriage? After giving birth to this child, would she and Dylan still have a future together? Daisy smiled with her eyes downcast, hiding the darkness in her eyes.
"My sister, ou're still very weak. You need to rest well. Once you recover, I'll take you personally to see my Brother-in-law. During this time, I'll look after him for you, so please be assured and don't worry." Maisy didn't notice Daisy's sudden change and spoke cheerfully.
Daisy stretched and gently stroked the back of Maisy's hand. "Maisy, you've done so much to care for my Dylan. Thank you very much my young sister."
"Don't worry about it. We're sisters, and I'll be happy when you're happy. You're my only sister and you just made me an aunt" maisy squealed.
**************
After two weeks of suffering and waiting, Daisy could finally leave the private nursing home. But as she stepped out of the side door of the facility with her baby, a crowd of people rushed towards her, surrounding her.
The glare of cell phone, flashlights flashed continuously, and the phones held by the people were pointed at her like spears.
"Daisy, you disappeared the year Dylan Noble was very ill, and now you've secretly given birth. Is this a big gift to Dylan, who was allowed to leave the hospital not long ago?" The words of one female reporter were filled with mockery.
The media presenters bombarded her with questions. "Is this Dylan's child? We've heard that due to his condition at the time of your pregnancy, it couldn't have been his child. Whose child is this, Daisy Knight?
“The Knight family has always been known for its integrity and impeccable behavior, and we didn't expect this from a member such as yourself."
The interrogation persisted. "Daisy, did you cheat on Dylan? Isn't he your fiancé? Why would you do that while he was lying sick in bed?“
“Such immoral behavior! How could someone of your stature engage in such actions?"
“What about this child? If he is not Dylan's child, is the child a bastard? Born out of wedlock?“
“Are you and Mr Noble still engaged? Does he know about your secret babby?“
The barrage of questions forced Daisy to clutch her child tightly in her arms. Her face hardened.
"Please leave me and my family alone. This is none of your concern. Don't you all have something better to do?."
No one except Maisy knew about her pregnancy and childbirth. How could these people show up now and potentially expose everything? Daisy bit her lip forcefully, her eyes filled with suspicion. The more she thought about it, the colder she felt. She knew something wasn't right.
At the same time, a crowd had gathered on the other side. There was Dylan Noble, who stood tall and didn't appear as sickly as before. Although still somewhat frail, he seemed much stronger now. The eyes that were once filled with love and adoration for Daisy now held a strange chill. There was suppressed anger in his eyes.
"Mr. Noble, are you here to take Daisy home?"
"Is your engagement still valid? Will you accept Ms. Knight's illegitimate child?"
