Are you Married

The guard slapped her face twice, shouted twice without response, and performed CPR and artificial respiration... Until a figure approached with eyes shining brightly in the night, Tina showed signs of recovery. "Is she awake?" Tina blinked weakly, welcomed by a familiar face. She smiled with joy. "David, did you save me?" David stood against the light. The lines of his face were sharpened by the contrast between light and shadow. He stepped back, and the light fell on the guard behind him, who was soaked. "Tina, you should thank this guard, otherwise, you would have died." Tina looked at the guard with wide eyes and a clear mind. She froze for a moment before shouting in disbelief. "Impossible! I can't believe it!" A hint of disdain flashed in David's eyes. "Would what I saw with my own eyes be fake?" Tina looked up at David, who was smiling. It didn't seem like a genuine smile, making him appear distant from her. "No... it can't be!" Tina didn't want to accept the reality, tears filling her eyes. David didn't show any sympathy towards her. He leaned to the side and spoke to the guard. "Come, tell her what happened." "Miss Maka, it was me. I was the one who saved you" The guard's soaked clothes were evidence enough. "I also performed artificial respiration on you to help-" "Stop talking!" Tina covered her ears. The thought of the guard touching her chest and lips, and even David witnessing it, made her wish for death. "Leave, get out of here!" Tina shouted at the guard in pain. David signaled to the security guard to leave, and the guard left. David, too, didn't stay long before he turned and left. Tina's voice echoed in the night, questioning. "Why didn't you stop him? Why wasn't it you? Why are you doing this to me?" David stood still. His tall figure looked even more handsome under the moonlight. He didn't look back as he responded nonchalantly. "You brought this upon yourself. You can't blame anyone." "What?" Tina stood up and stared at him. "That woman, Daisy isn't a good person. You brought her to the party, but she left with Kingsley! She's just using you as a stepping stone!" David turned, half-bent, squinting his eyes, and listened calmly without speaking. Tina thought her words had reached David and took two steps forward. "David, I'm the only one who truly cares about you. And we were engaged with the approval of both our parents. Your parents are also happy with me and agree that I'm your intended wife." Tina tried to reach out her hand to hold his, but David smiled and dodged her. "There have been many who went on engagement dates with me. Were they all my parents' choice? were they all my partners? I love beautiful women, but I can't tolerate having too many of them, so I ask of you, Miss Maka. Please stop pretending to be David's partner. Please look after yourself." After saying that, David left without looking back. Tina stood there, her hands tightly clenched, her palms sore. David had no intention of staying any longer. He left the party and called Kingsley as soon as he got into the car. "How's Daisy? Is she okay?" Kingsley answered the call and told him that Daisy was "harassed" by Tina. "Sorry. I've tolerated Tina for a long time, and it's time to teach her a lesson." David defended himself. "Very well." Kingsley looked at Daisy sitting in the back seat. She was drying her soaked hair with a towel. "Are you taking her back to the hotel—" "That's it. I'm hanging up." Kingsley hung up without giving David a chance to worry about Daisy. Daisy's long, wet hair lay lazily accentuating her skin. Her clear, expressive eyes, arched eyebrows, trembling eyelids, and slightly parted lips resembled delicate rose petals. Daisy noticed Kingsley had ended the call before speaking. "Mr. Blackwood, this road doesn't seem to lead to the Full Moon Hotel... If you're busy, I can take a taxi back to the hotel." "Is Miss Knight here to discuss collaboration with Blackwood Gold?" Kingsley turned his gaze, fixing it on Daisy's face. "Yes." Daisy nodded slightly, her lips pursed. "As far as I know, many companies have approached Blackwood Group to discuss collaboration on my gold mine project. Universal Machines is just one of them, and although it may have some benefits, the decisions about the project still rest with me." Kingsley spoke calmly, but his tone was unsettling, adding pressure on Daisy. What did he mean? Daisy wondered. Did he want to take advantage of this opportunity? "If Miss Knight is here to discuss our partnership, don't I need to be her host? Pamper and please her? Now that I've taken on this responsibility, why aren't you moved?" He looked directly at her, lifting his beautiful eyes slightly. Daisy tried her best to avoid meeting his eyes, determined to keep her face calm. "Mr. Blackwood, I..." Kingsley put his fingers on his thin lips and made a hushing gesture, indicating she shouldn't speak. Daisy's heart was gripped with anxiety. Being alone with Kingsley in the car was torture for her, it drove her crazy, but she dared not offend him. "Miss Knight, do you have a lover?" Daisy shook her head. Where would she find the time for a lover? "Well... are you married? Do you have a husband?" Daisy was startled. Her beautiful eyes widened easily. Only Mr. Gideon and her friend Jane knew about her marriage. There couldn't be a third person. How could Kingsley assume so? It was just a temporary marriage, not considered a real one. After two months, three years of that marriage would end, and they would divorce and be free again. Should she acknowledge it or not? Daisy's mind was in turmoil. Kingsley was too close to her at this moment, and the car was filled with his presence - a kind of faded, fragrant sea atmosphere that dominated and permeated everywhere. It reminded Daisy of the night five years ago when she was overwhelmed in bed by this seemingly indifferent but passionate man, who almost tore her apart. She had endured such ignorance only once in her life. That's how Daisy remembered Kingsley. She never knew he was the man she married in a sham marriage. She had no doubt he didn't remember her, and so she continued praying he wouldn't remember her forever. Kingsley, on the other hand, looked at Daisy from a different angle. He had no idea she was the girl he met at the hotel five years ago and left white and black stains of flowers on the white bedsheet. He knew her as his fake wife whom he married three years ago, a marriage that would end in two months, according to the contract.
