Daisy sat on a European-style bench near the flower bushes by the swimming pool, having a video call with her daughter.
"Mama, you look so beautiful today, like a storybook character," Doris exclaimed, her eyes filled with admiration.
"You have such a sweet tongue, my dear," Daisy replied, smiling warmly.
"Mama, are there many handsome uncles at the party?" the Little Angel raised her rosy cheeks with both hands, blinking her big curious eyes. Suddenly, Daisy had a bad feeling.
"Mama, I'm not trying to criticize you. You should take this opportunity to find a rich and handsome man to marry. Then you'll be in a good position and won't need to work so hard anymore," Doris started to take charge of her mother's life. "Furthermore, you don't know how to take care of yourself. However, I can't control what you do, so it's better if you find a husband to take care of you."
Daisy laughed as she listened to her daughter speaking like an adult. "Having you with me is enough, my dear. You can take care of Mama when you grow up."
She hadn't really thought about relationships. She just wanted to earn more money when she was young, so she and her daughter would have something to rely on in the future.
"Mama, I'll marry Big Brother from Burning Boys in the future, so I won't have time to take care of you," Doris gave Daisy a cold shoulder.
Doris was a fan of the children's music group Burning Boys. She loved Jerome, the eldest of the three children. She was a devoted fan.
Daisy didn't know what to say. "Then the two of you can take care of me together."
"No, Brother Jay has too much work to do. He's very busy and works very hard," Doris refused without hesitation.
Was this her biological daughter?
"Mama, I'll watch Brother Jay's show now. Don't forget to find a husband," Doris sent a kiss on the screen and disappeared.
Daisy smiled, her only daughter was the only one who could make her truly smile.
The swimming pool was surrounded by trees and it was very quiet. She looked up to gaze at the night sky. The scattered stars in the middle of the night shone and sparkled like diamonds.
"Are you Daisy?" Suddenly, a threatening voice sounded, breaking the rare tranquillity.
Daisy opened her eyes and saw a beautiful woman two meters away. Her flat white shoulder dress elongated her slender body, but the anger on her face spoiled the beauty of her body.
"Do you need anything?" Daisy stood gracefully and calmly.
"Do you know who I am?" The woman asked arrogantly.
"I am sorry, who are you and how can I help you?" Daisy asked gently.
The woman did not get the answer she wanted, and her face immediately turned ugly. She gritted her teeth unwillingly. "I know Kingsley and David. Don't you want to know what my relationship with them is?"
"Sorry, I'm not interested in them," Daisy chose to turn away as the woman was trying to start an argument for no reason. She turned and left gracefully.
The woman stepped forward to block her and introduce herself. "I am Tina, from the renowned Maka family. Kingsley is my brother and David is my intended. Please, watch yourself, Ms. Knight."
"Mr. Sonda and I only collaborate on a project, we have no other relationship," Daisy replied firmly.
"You girls use work as an excuse, but you intend to find a man and marry into a wealthy family," Tina laughed contemptuously, looking down on women like her.
"Then let Mr. Sonda come and explain everything himself Ms. Maka." Daisy took her mobile phone out of her purse and dialled David.
"Do you think I'd give you a chance to complain!" Tina no longer had a smile on her face. She slapped Daisy hard, across the face.
Daisy wasn't afraid. She remained calm and raised her hand to grab Tina's wrist. "Ms. Maka, there's a line of no return!" Daisy said firmly.
Tina was stunned by Daisy's fierce gaze but refused to let go. As she forcefully pulled her right hand, her left hand secretly reached Daisy and pushed her hard.
Behind Daisy was the swimming pool. When she lost her balance and fell straight back, Tina grabbed her hand and dragged her down with her.
"Splash!" Water and waves cut the surface of the pool.
Kingsley, who was heading that way, heard the loud sound of people falling into the water. He quickened his pace and reached the swimming pool. In the faint light from the edge of the pool, he saw Daisy and Tina, both struggling in the water.
"Brother Kingsley, save me..." Tina shouted when she saw Kingsley standing by the pool.
With a cold expression, Kingsley quickly took off his suit jacket and black leather shoes. With a graceful dive that drew a beautiful parabola in the air, he plunged into the water.
He was like a seafarer passing through the waves. Tina smiled victoriously as she watched Kingsley swimming towards her. But Kingsley swam to Daisy's side, grabbed her long hands, and held her slender waist. "Hold on to me." His eyes were deeper and darker than the night and his voice was captivating.
Daisy put her hands around his neck easily. As they drew closer, she could feel the firm muscles under his shirt and his masculine strength. On a chilly autumn night, the water in the pool was very cold, and Daisy trembled slightly.
After they got out of the pool, Daisy let go and moved back, putting some distance between herself and Kingsley.
"Thank you, Mr. Blackwood."
Kingsley looked at Daisy, who was soaked in water and saw her as beautiful and pristine as a lotus flower. Her watery almond eyes looked soft and graceful. Her clothes were wet and clinging to her body, accentuating her elegant curves. He hadn't expected a slim and tall woman like her to have such curves – full breasts, a slender waist, fair skin, and graceful legs.
Seeing her cherry lips trembling from the cold, Kingsley took off his suit jacket and draped it over his shoulders. His gentleness made Daisy feel awkward. She didn't know how to handle him.
"Are you okay?" Kingsley raised his hand and pushed the excess water off her black hair.
"Yes," Daisy replied with a slight nod.
Seeing Daisy getting Kingsley's attention and ignoring her, Tina became so angry that she gritted her teeth.
"Brother Kingsley, save me... Aah, I'm suffocating..." Tina shouted, trying to draw Kingsley's attention.
"I don't have a sister." Kingsley's eyes landed on Tina, who was struggling in the water. His gaze was heavy and cold.
Tina felt despair creeping from the soles of her feet to the top of her head. "Mr...Blackwood. This woman not only seduced David but also wanted to get close to you. You can't be fooled by her."
Kingsley ignored Tina's accusation. Instead, he spoke to Daisy. "Let's go."
They had only taken a few steps before they saw a guard. Kingsley told him, "Someone fell into the pool." The guard nodded and ran to rescue Tina, who was already semi-conscious.
