The unknown, the unsaid

Neighbour neighbour

Gabriel walked down the school hallway long after classes had already started. He was used to being late to class and didnt really care about getting in trouble considering his mother was the Principal of the school and his father one of the chairmen. He strolled past his mothers office and stopped outside by the vending machine to grab a snack.

He heard footsteps approaching and turned to see his next door neighbour walking down to the Principal's office with a note in her hand. She looked dazed and troubled and her small frame seemed to shiver under her light sweater. Her long dark hair fell till her elbows and her grey eyes were almost brimmed with tears. She had pale skin and a full mouth which quivered as she locked eyes with gabriel.

Gabriel knew Irina to be his next door neighbour, he had seen her the first day his family had moved into their house 2 years ago. But he never had a chance to speak to her or get to know her, much to his surprise. He was a friendly, outgoing guy and had on three occasions been to her house to greet her father hoping for a chance to meet her. But she never showed up, she was always either in her bedroom or outside her father would say.

Though their eye contact lasted for a second as she immediately looked down, Gabriel felt his curiosity peak and there was no denying the fact that he found her extremely beautiful.

He watched as she entered the office and heard the muffled conversation between his mother and Irina.

"I'm surprised to see you here Irina. you've had an almost perfect record the 2 years youve been here", his mother, Mrs.Kane said.

there was a brief silence until Irina replied softly, " I'm really sorry Mrs.Kane. to be honest im not sure what really happened. I didnt mean to disrupt the class. I...I....", she trailed off.

"Well I'm obviously not going to relay some harsh punishment upon you Ms.Lima, nor do I intend to give you detention. This is your first misdemeanor and I'm sending you back to class with a warning. Just dont cause any more trouble. That's all", Mrs. Kane said.

"of course".

Irina walked out of the office steadily avoiding Gabriel's gaze. After she walked away Gabriel headed to his truck and lay in the backseat. He had his earphones in his ears ,his arms tucked behind his head, and lastly, Irina on his mind.
