"The Architecture of Disaster" follows 17-year-old Blake Copper as he navigates a chaotic, dysfunctional existence in low-income Detroit, acting as a surrogate father and hustler alongside his overwhelmed older sister, Laura, to keep their six younger siblings fed. With a father cycling in and out of jail and a mother long gone due to addiction, Blake uses his sharp intellect, criminal tendencies, and profound sarcasm to maintain his emotional detachment. The family's already volatile structure is completely destabilized when their eccentric neighbors, Paul and Francis, take in Olivia "Liv," a beautiful but hostile 17-year-old foster girl, for easy government money. Liv, armed with a traumatic past and a dangerously sharp tongue, immediately clashes with Blake.
