Chapter 5

Alayna woke up later that evening with what felt like a massive hangover. She sat up in the huge bed and looked around. It was decorated with rain forest feels, like forest greens and hand painted themes on the walls of massive trees and exotic animals. She really enjoyed this room, it made her feel like she was on a dream vacation. She threw her legs off the bed and carefully made sure she could stand on her own two feet. She noticed no one else was in the room so she didn't feel the need to be totally on guard. She seen a tray of food with water on the night stand. The food was a medium rare steak that looked like it was cooked perfectly, her stomach growled hard and she realized that she hadn't eaten a proper meal in three days. She went to dig into the meal and remembered where she was at, she worried that it was poison so she decided she wouldn't eat it. She stood up and walked towards the opening that lead to the bathroom. It was a huge arch that looked like it had hand carvings of panthers stalking whoever would walk under it. As Alayna walked into the bathroom her breath caught in her throat as she looked around. The shower looked like it could hold at least 4 people with sprayers on almost every inch of the walls to make sure to lather ever inch of someone, or people that were in the shower and it had a waterfall feature on the ceiling. There was a bench seat on two sides and the third side, across from the door, was a lounge seat that looked like it had jets that came out of it for a massage. The doors on the shower were all glass, almost so whoever else was in the bathroom could watch. The jacuzzi tub was even bigger and there a bunch of buttons to change the options of the type of bath you could have and it also had a waterfall feature on one side of it. The vanity had two sinks that were so big Alayna felt like she could take a bath in them. There was so much room on the counters to put whatever you wanted on it, to which Alayna did not understand why someone would need THAT big of countertops. Alayna turned to the right and noticed another arch with no door so she started walking towards it and noticed that it was a massive closet. As she walked in she thought to herself " there was no way that someone could have that much clothes to fill this up even in a lifetime! " In one of the cubbies she noticed towels so she grabbed on and walked back into the bathroom. She figured out how to turn on the shower and undressed. She moaned as the burning hot water spilled over her sore muscles and bruised skin. She picked up the wash cloth, put a quarter size drop of the best smelling body wash she had ever smelled in her life and started to massage her body. She noticed that her bruises started to fade slowly so she sat on the lounge and pressed the button for the jets hoping that the water would help sooth her aching muscles. Alayna sat in the shower for over an hour when she finally realized that the water wasn't getting cold, which amazed her and she thought she could get used to that! She grumbled as she shut the water off, not really wanting to get out but needed to, and stepped out. She grabbed the towel she had hung up by the shower, which was so big that it wrapped around her two times, and dried off. She kept the towel wrapped around her, grabbed her clothes that she took off and headed into the bedroom to get dressed. As she walked into her room she smelled something earthy, and she really liked the smell. She looked towards the window to see if it was open and it wasn't. She scanned the room and immediately took a defensive stance once she laid eyes on Damon. The towel dropped because she had her hands at the ready to fight and she didn't realize it. " What do you want? " Chuckling, Damon said " Well, I was coming in to see how you were feeling but I see you are doing just great. " as he winked at her. Just then Alayna realized that she had nothing on and grabbed at the towel to cover up. " You think this is funny? Because I certainly don't. What happened to knocking? " While she said this Alayna looked towards the door and noticed that the handle was broken and there was a huge hole in the door. " I did knock, you didn't answer, I tried the door and it was locked. I thought you could be hurt. " Damon stated " You couldn't hear the shower going? I highly doubt that. " " No I didn't hear since every room is sound proof for obvious reasons. " " What do you mean ' obvious reasons ' " Alayna wanted to ask. Damon looked at her in shock as if he could see the confusion on her face. " Why are you staring at me like that? Who needs sound proof rooms, and so many of them? " " Little wolf, little wolf. You have so much to learn don't you? Well if you want you may stay here for as long as you want and we can teach you everything. " Alayna thought about this, she thought about how she could have a safe place to live, hone her skills, and maybe be able to finally get answers to so many things. " If I do stay, I would need an apartment out of this.... castle..... because I would need to come and go as I please for obvious reasons. " Alayna threw in the ' obvious reasons ' for good measure since he didn't answer her question. " I think that could be arranged but for now it is a good idea you stay close to the pack doctor so she can keep an eye on you till you are healed. " Damon said smirking at her as he walked out of the room. Alayna felt a little saddened as the earthly smell left with Damon but she knew she could not get distracted. She was not pleased with Damon's answer to her having a place outside of the building, even though she did not want to leave the shower. Alayna decided to head down to the infirmary as soon as she was dressed. She looked around the room trying to find her clothes but she couldn't find them anywhere when she noticed a cell phone was sitting on the night stand. Alayna walked over to the phone, picked it up and noticed a text already waiting for her " Alayna, this is your phone now, all the numbers that you will need are preprogrammed. Aimee also threw away all your clothes that we recovered from your camp and there is a whole new wardrobe in the closet. when you are feeling up to it shoot me a text and I will come show you around the grounds. " The text contact was from Damon. Alayna decided she wanted to explore on her own and not give him the satisfaction of helping her out.

Alayna walked into the closet and noticed a bunch of clothes that she hadn't noticed before. She settled on a pair of black leggings, a racer tank top and an oversized hoodie with Chadron State Basketball on it. She grabbed the phone and headed out. Alayna stepped out the door and decided to head to the left down the hallway. The hallway was very large and looked like it was something that should be in the middle ages. There was tapestries hanging from the walls with names, dates and pictures on them. She could only imagine that it was the information of past Alphas. The color theme was gold and green, everything in the hallway matched.

The direction that Alayna took was the right one because she found a staircase. She looked down it questioning her ability to go down them safely and she decided she would risk it because she was not about to ask for help from anyone. She took the steps one at a time to make sure she was stable. She was doing a very good job of it if she said so herself.. She finally made it to the second floor and found the infirmary fairly easy. As she walked into the room she looked around, looking around for Amiee. At first Alayna did not spot her so she started to head towards an open door at the end of the hallway. As she got closer she could hear a female voice talking on the phone " I have no idea, when I did the evaluation she was healing very fast, faster than I had ever seen. And her eyes kept turning from red to green to a light purple. " There was a slight pause and then " What do you want me to do? Alpha Damon would skin me alive if I did any tests on her without him knowing and honestly I don't want to mess with her. " As Brie was leaning in closer to hear better she accidently knocked a bed pan off the rolling cart. With a loud bang Aimee clicked the phone off and came out. " Hey, I was wondering if you give me a check up so I can maybe go outside for a walk? " Brie asked her. Aimee got a big smile on her face and agreed right away. As they walked to nearest bed Alayna asked " So how long do you think it would take me to heal?" Aimee looked at her and said " I am guessing at least a month with the type of injuries that you have. " " I feel pretty good and it is only my ankle that really hurts, my head hurts a little though, almost like I am hung over. " Alayna informed her. " Well that is great then, maybe you will heal faster! "

Amiee got done checking Alayna's vitals and then went to get the needle. " What are you doing? " Alayna asked. " I am going to take some blood samples and run some tests to make sure everything looks good. " Amiee replied. Alayna didn't think that was a bad idea so went ahead and let do it. Just as the second needle entered her arm she started to feel faint and her head started to pound. Alayna passed out on the bed.
