Chapter 15

Naomi was standing at the head of the group of about 50 women. She kept scanning the area and her eyes always seemed to land on Alayna. “ Let’s start out with 10 laps around the lake shall we! “ She yelled out with authority. Everyone groaned, not planning on running laps today. Alayna however smiled. She has had to run her whole life, and not just in the sense to get away. When her “ Uncle “ was finished she always felt dirty, but couldn’t use the shower without getting in trouble so she would go for a long run to nearest lake to swim in. While it wasn’t the best option, it was the only option unfortunately.

Alayna looked around and saw everyone putting in AirPods and headphones. Alayna could never afford anything like that so her runs were reserved for thinking and coming up with her next plans.

Alayna took off while everyone else was getting ready and fell deep into thought.

“Zyla, why do we feel the way we do when we are around Damon? “ “ I am not sure, I know it is the mate bond, but it is much more intense than this normally. “ Zyla responded. “ Well one, I don’t want a mate, boyfriend or anything that would involve commitment, and two. What are we going to do about it “ “ Hmmmm, well there is a couple options. We could leave this pack and find another way to get our revenge or we could fuc.k him once and see what happens. We just can’t get attached because you know that will only cause problems in the long run. “ Zyla snorted with enthusiasm at the suggestion of the second option. “ I am not a prude, but I don’t know that I would please him. He looks like he knows what he wants and here I am, only knows pain and I know that isn’t how it should be. “ Alayna could feel Zyla coc.k her head to the side. “ Well maybe he will be the one to teach us what we like, don’t like and what it is really suppose to mean? “ “ But if he is really our mate, would that be fair to him, taking on a basket case like myself. I am sure all the females here are all over him. “ “ We will never know unless you become a little selfish for once and take something that you really want and need. “ Zyla scolded Alayna.

Alayna wasn’t sure how she felt about that and so resolved herself to not touch Damon. She didn’t want strings or an attachment to something she wasn’t even sure she wanted. And she didn’t want to hurt someone else, knowing what that can do to someone.

Alayna finished her run ahead of most of the group and when she stopped in front of Naomi she stood tall, wanting to show her that the run had little effect on her.

Naomi wouldn’t even look at her, which didn’t bother Alayna. Alayna just went to stand in the back of the group. The rest of training went smoothly and Alayna was catching on way faster than she thought. By the end of training she could take down anyone in the group besides the trainers and she had not went against Naomi yet. And even then she was close to getting them down. Naomi had training going for 3 hours and by the end of it Alayna was sore, bruised and filthy. She definitely needed a shower. Naomi walked up to her and announced to the whole class “ One more demonstration since someone here apparently knows more than she is letting on. “ Everyone in the group groaned and there was mumbling heard through the whole class. “ Come on, we all need showers! “ someone had yelled from the back. “ And? It will still be there when we are done I’m sure. “ Naomi said sarcastically. “ Now everyone pair off. Not you. “ She said as she pointed a long finger at Alayna as she was trying to hide in the back.

Alayna internally groaned and walked up to Naomi. “ What do you want me to do? “ She asked her. Naomi sneered at her “ You are going to be paired with me. “ She then turned to the group “ This is going to be a test of skills today, there will be no weapons, no shifting and no killing. However, the fight won’t end until one of you is unconscious! “ The entire group started cheering, this is what they have been waiting for. “ For everyone standing there will be a bonfire held for you, and the losers, well you get to serve the food and drinks all night! So you better make sure you are standing! “ Naomi turns back to Alayna with a glint in her eye “ I am so going to enjoy you serving me tonight “ She whispered just loud enough for only Alayna to hear her. Alayna just smiled, she knew she could beat Naomi, if her life depended on it, and right now she knew it did.
