"Good morning! I assume you slept well" He said as soon as she walked out of the room. Dami looked at him and nodded. He must have been so happy about their conversation last night, maybe she would have told him sooner. Jason was different, and so attractive sometimes she does forget he is a billionaire and a son from a prestigious family. She wondered if his family would accept a black girl or if they would ever love her, her life would be a problem to their love if they did find out about her. Her smile brightened as he approached her, and held her arms gently, landing a soft kiss on her forehead. "You look better, why don't you wash up, and come out?" He asked, Dami looked down at herself, she had a white polo on and his trousers that felt so free and comfortable on her. "Should I?" She said with a smile. "Hmmm. You should" He slowly let go of her arms, reached for the dining taking a white bowl with him and headed towards the kitchen, the place smelt nice and she assumed he was cooking again. "You know it's really weird to see you cook, you could as well hire maids to do it for you," she said, walking with him to the kitchen, Jason turned back at her and she shrugged, gently biting her lower lips. "Maids? Ha! I do have one, she is just not around" his voice went deep and serious. "You do, wow" she nodded slightly, looking around the kitchen. "You know where I come from the lady does the cook, it's a sin for men to be found cooking," Dami said, avoiding eye contact with him. "It's a sin? Why?" He asked. "Because it's a lady's work, men don't see a reason to cook, my mother's and mother's mothers having been doing it before us, a woman going to school in the early 18's was a sin in Africa, so they have to be housewives for their husbands" "Is that why it's weird seeing me cook?" He questioned. "Sort of, I have never had a man cook for me," she said, blushing and smiling. "Hmmm, I see... But I think that method did affect the world, not just Africa " "Yeah, I know I was just telling you a little about where I am from" "Uh, about Nigeria?" He giggled. "You know I would love to visit there someday, still one of the counties I haven't explored" "What's there to explore though?" Dami whispered, looking away. "So you want to tell me you haven't been there though? How should I believe that?" Her wide eyes stared into his. "I didn't say I haven't been to Nigeria, I just said Dam, I haven't explored Nigeria yet" "Oh, is that so? So why did you visit Nigeria though?" "Because of work, I had a contract to sign," He sighed and took out a pan. "What are you preparing?" Dami asked. "Vegetables salad and bread?" "You wanna use the pan to toast the bread?" She asked, looking at the pan heating on the gas. "No, that's for the fried egg," Jason said, staring at her blankly. "Who toast bread pan, Dam," He said with a small laugh. "Me, I do that" Dami replied and his smile disappeared. They both stared at themselves in silence, Dami nodded and looked away, while Jason went blank, unable to speak after her quick response. "I'm sorry, I didn't -" the doorbell rang and their attention turned towards the sound of it. "Huh?" Jason dropped the bowl of eggs. "I wonder who's that" he whispered, Dami looked at him and he turned off the gas. "Wait! What It's your mom?" She caught his wrist and looked up at him. Her heart was pounding harder than ever, and she recalled seeing his mother arrive last night, he smiled and slowly let go of her hand. "Won't be bad," a smirk pulled at the corner of his lips, Dami blinked, and confusion filled her, she would as well take her wet clothes and quickly ask to leave. She had no money or phone with her. Suddenly, she remembered June. "June" she whispered. "What are you doing here?" Dami heard him say, and she could tell that wasn't his mother. "Don't be such a baby, I only came to say hi, you've been out of Singapore for quite a while," Adela's voice echoed. "Leave," "I just got here, Jason, you can stop being so cold, and harsh," Adela said, more confidently. Dami recognized her voice and stayed still until she could see her sitting on his couch. "I have a visitor, you should leave," Jason said, and Adela searched around for the visitor he had mentioned, looking towards the kitchen she found Dami staring at her with an awkward smile. "Damilola?" She questioned, and looked at Jason, she looked back at Dami and said nothing, and stared at her instead. "You should while I am been nice" Jason warned. "You're cooking?" Adela said with a faint voice. "Wow, Jason," "It's okay, j don't mind, I was about to leave," Dami said, and got up from the stool she sat, passing by Jason. "Why should you leave? We haven't had breakfast yet, and when you're ready to go home I would drive you" "Why?" Adela asked, Jason, sighed, and turned towards them. "Mind your business, I wasn't speaking to you, and neither was I asking for your permission" Dami looked at him, surprisingly. Seeing him react this way, she would tell there weren't friends like he said the last time they met at the orphanage. "What's your relationship with her?" Dami asked. The room went silent at her questions and Jason looked at her instantly, he breathed gently like he held back his fury. Dami question herself, maybe she wouldn't have asked, his look had turned cold Instantly. Jason darted at Adela and Dami and breathed once more, "Don't worry, you don't have to reply if you can't?" Dami said, "I should leave honestly," she swallowed. "She's my ex-wife" He blunted.
