ONE
The day dawned crisp and clear. The sun poured through Dami's window. Another day had dawned, for normal people a new day would bring new hopes and inspiration but for Dami was just another boring day to repeat the same schedule. She got up from bed and rubbed her bleary eyes and walked to the window. There was a pearly glow in the sky, and the dawn chorus of melodic birdsong drifted in. The just-risen sun shone softly on the city streets, the breeze was airy and cold.
Bark!
Dami turned back smiling at peach— a Maltipoo, her best friend.
"Hello, little one" She smiles, picking him. Dami opens her bedroom door heading to the living room "How did you get in here?" she drops him in a small pink doggie bed.
She headed on for her online yoga class and exercise.
"What a boring morning," she mumbled, heading to the kitchen, Damilola made a creamy coffee for the morning and after that, she prepared a nice small breakfast for peach and herself.
Sitting on her couch she went through her books which she placed on sss. After scrolling through her social media, she finally sighs and heads to the shower.
Damilola turned on the hot water along with cold water making it warm, she poured in her Nivea shower gel, she placed a wooden tray over it, by the side of her shower she placed a scented candle and turned off the light of the bathroom, she placed her pad in between putting on a Korean drama.
This was her peaceful Kind of life, a life away from the world that she hated. Over time, she didn't feel the need to wake up some morning but she found herself waking up to her alarm. Life was useless to her. She felt like she only needed to distract herself away from her horrible past, that was her purpose for writing and watching movies.
"No way!" she smiled sipping from her glass of wine, enjoying the romantic umbrella scene which the drama had served her.
The evening sun cast long shadows on the ground and the slanting rays of the setting sun gave a warm orange tinge to the sky. The night sky was aglow with bright city lights. Damilola stared at the city from her wall to floor window, on the tenth floor, this was a view she loved and could stare at for hours without getting tired.
The occasional barking of faraway dogs broke the silence of the night. She turned away and checked the time, it was past nine, she sat at her makeup table, and gave herself a beautiful light makeup, she put on long earrings and packed her hair in a low bun.
Heading to her closet, she picked out a white short gown, with short sleeves and a turtle neck, matching it with a white sandal heel. She glanced around her bags and pulled out a white bag.
It was an all-white appearance today, she came out of the parking lot, and opened her black SUV. She started the engine and drove off.
Her phone rang, Dami rolled her eyes before picking it up.
"Do you forget people exist?" June says. June— her assistant and best friend.
"I am busy I would call you later," she says, focusing on the road.
"What are you doing huh? you left me to do all the work at the bakery!"
"Don't bother me, that's why I pay you?" She says, rolling her eyes once more.
"I can't believe you, where are you? at the hotel again?" June screams, Dami took a deep breath hanging up on her after.
She arrived at a hotel, and walking into the hotel, she managed a smiling face.
"I would love to book a room," she says, at the same time with an Asian man, she could tell he was Korean after so many dramas.
"Huhh, the normal?" The lady ask confused, they didn't even glance at themselves.
"Yes," they both say,
"I'm sorry, but I would-"
"Attend to the lady first," He says, Dami glanced but didn't move, she stared at the lady handing her card to her.
"Thank you" She took her keys, "Please I am not expecting any visitors," she says, the receptionist nodded, heading to the elevator.
"As soon as the elevator opened to the passage of her room, her phone rang.
"You're calling again" she smiles dropping her bag on the bed.
"Let me in, I know you're in this hotel"
"What hotel?" She says, her voice so emotionless, that she didn't talk like a human.
"You know clearly, let me in or I am going to scream your name-" Dami cuts the call, laying on the bed.
Hours later, she sat at the bar with June who was half drunk, she could barely even raise her head. Dami sighs.
"This is why I don't like hanging out with you" She shook her head in disbelief.
"Hi," She heard a calm and gentle voice call, like she been summoned. Dami raised her head to the sweet voice, before her stood a tall handsome man, she was stunned by the man's beauty, he also had his hair packed in a low bun but he's were short.
"Hi?" she cleared her throat, looking around confused. He was standing at her front, a hot handsome man was standing at her front.
"I am Jason," he says, "Can I sit?" After three years of living in Singapore and her steady outing to this hotel, no one had ever approached her.
"Yeah, you can" she blinked away, shy, she could feel her whole body stiff.
"Noticed you were drinking alone" Dami looked at the glass of wine in her hand, and she chuckled silently.
"My friend-" She stutters, Jason was tall and built-up, he had just the right body for wrestling, hefty and handsome.
"Wasted, I can see, can you be my drinking partner?" He gave her a big smile, he was also cute and straightforward, she liked that.
