"Good morning!" June said, as soon as Dami walked into the bakery.
"Oh, you're here"
"Yes I am here, I am supposed to be here, why are you here?" She questioned, Dami stopped and looked around, Dami's bakery was well known and had just the right amount of customers every day.
_"Are you happy, Dami?" _ she recalled The voice that spoke on the phone earlier this morning she recognized the sweet yet cold and evil tone. It was a voice she had sworn to never forget, or rather her mind could never forget.
She stood at the front of the desk, with her hands in her pocket. Dami had white suit trousers and a black silky button shirt. Her hair was packed gently.
She wore black sandal heels to match, her elegant outfit but her face was filled with unrest and stress. Her eyes were pale and her face sweaty.
June, on the other hand, looked brighter like a burst of sunshine early in the morning, her yellow floral dress made her so beautiful. Her hair was plaited in an all back. Her wide eyes stared at Dami as she looked worried.
Something was wrong and she could tell, the way Dami's eyes wandered around, she looked terrified.
"Dam?" She called softly, Damilola quickly turned in that direction, and in a flash, she continued to stare around the room. "Damilola?" June called again.
Dami looked at her and her eyes were filled with fear.
"I need to talk to you," she said and made her way into the office and slamming the door after her.
"Alex?" June whispered to a redhead lady in an apron. She quickly took off her glove and hurriedly followed Dami.
The door closed right after.
"He called me," Dami said, not hesitating.
"Who? Ahhh, you mean Jason? Oh, I was going to tell you, he sent an email" June said clapping her hands tightly.
"No! Not Jason" Dami said as her breathing increased.
"What do you mean?" June's voice filled with worries, and she could feel anxious while Dami glared at her "Your dad?"
"He's not!" She yelled and paused right after with a loud sigh, her face turned cold and her hand made a fist. She took a deep breath in, inhaling sharply. "He is not my father," She said. "Umm... I need a new apartment" she stated.
"Dami!" June sighed and took steps closer to her.
"I can't let him find me" she replied before June could continue.
"How did he get your number?" June asked, Dami paused.
"I don't know, I don't want to know, I need a new apartment, you know how to, and also a new car and phone," she cleared her throat.
"You can't keep running, how long do you think you would run? Every time you seem to have contacted him, you run, you can't keep leaving like that" June said in a low worried tone. Her brows wrinkled and her hands made gestures while she tried to explain.
"Remember what he said?" Dami pointed.
"I remember everything, even your mother, do you think she's happy seeing you run without ever having to face this situation?? You dream of him every night, he has become your biggest fear"
"It doesn't change a thing, June. If you can't help me, then I would contact the estate agent" she breathed and turned, heading for her chair.
"Are you going to change Dami's bakery too?' June questioned.
Damilola leaned on the black leather chair, staring at her. "If I have to," she said with a huge sigh.
"Dami!" June whispered, sighing heavily.
"Wait what do you mean by Jason sent an email this morning?" She blinked.
"Ah, the cloth line you wanted, the Collab he accepted and sent a marketer, it thought you weren't coming in today, so I gave a date" June rolled her eyes and walked to the sofa at the side of the room sinking into it.
"Really?" Dami asked with disbelief.
The door closed and Jason walked into his sitting room, in his hand he held his jacket and quickly began to take off his shoes. As soon as he was done, he headed for the couch sighing a thousand times before finally landing on the beige couch.
"What? Why are you sighing so loud?" A voice came from behind.
"She frustrates me," he said, staring at the ceiling.
"Who? Ahh, that lady you talked about?"
"I can't seem to understand her, At this moment she is crazy about me and the next minute she's cold," he said with a smirk pulling at the corner of his lips. "Dale, do you ever feel so used and useless at the same time?" He turned back to where the tall Asian man stood.
Dale Lee— Jason's younger brother also he is the director of JL's group of companies.
"Maybe she's married," Dale said.
"What?" Jason asked with a small laugh, "That's impossible"
"Could be, married women these days are scary, especially the rich ones... Maybe her husband is too busy for her,"
"I am also a busy man" Jason stated, Dale looked at him, as much as he wasn't buying anything Dale said, he looked fooled and annoyed.
"You still have time for her, don't you?" Dale asked, Jason, froze staring at him, speechlessly. He did, but how was he going to admit that, Dale seemed to make sense to him.
"How would you know if she's married?" He asked with his brows raised.
"That's it! You do have time for her! Maybe her husband travels a lot and she needs someone to satisfy her flesh!" Dale said.
"So she's married?" Jason asked. "How would you know that?"
"Have you ever noticed something unusual?" Dale asked. "Jason, you need to trust me with this" Dale said, his voice calmed.
"Hmmm? You're sure about this? But she's doesn't look married" he said, his voice filled disbelief. Why would Dami hide such from him? He thought harder.
"Anything unusual?" Dale asked.
"Ummm," he hummed scanning his memory for anything.
"Maybe a male's cloth, accessories, skincare?"
"Ah!" Jason yelled capping his hands as they were coming to him "A clipper!" He said, "and a male underwear, and oh, a man's shoe!" He said.
"Seee! She's married" Dale said.
"What are you guys talking about?" A soft sweet voice asked.
Jason's mood darkened and he immediately picked up his suit and got up.
"Hey, Jason?" She called softly.
"What did I say about letting strangers into my house?" He asked, the room went silent for a while and he sighed heavily breaking the awkward silence.
"Jason!" She called.
