"I am here!" June said, Damilola rushed out of the room, and paused, staring at the dress, June had brought for her. "First of all, I am not wearing that," she said. "Good morning, you have no choice!" she said, Dami looked at June, she wore a red gown and had her hair in a ponytail. "You can't tell me you had two days to prepare for a party and you did nothing!" she said, but Dami's mind was focused on the red sexy gown she had on. There was no way, June was going to deny she was going somewhere. "You look good, I mean better by the way," she said, June looked at her dress and rolled her eyes. "Listen, I picked this green dress for you!" "No, I have been with green before and I don't want to repeat colours at least not now!" She sighed, walking past her. "Where are you going?" June followed, "I have a date" she spun checking her outfit out. "With Andre?" Dami teased. "Yeah," they both stared at each other in silence, Damilola watched her, June waiting for the right moment to strike. "What?" she rolled her eyes, sitting up, her hair was a complete mess. Bark! Peach interrupted. Dami rushed to pick her up and didn't hesitate to give her kisses. "You smell so good, mommy gave you a bath this morning" She praised herself. "You're not going to tell me what you have in mind today!!" June teased, "I mean with your maaaan" she had a mocking tone. "You're so dramatic," she rolled her eyes and caressed Peach in her arms. "I am not, I love seeing you leave your apartment and ask me for bits of help," she breathed in, and Dami looked at her. "I wanna take it slow" Damilola blushed, and kissed Peach. "Sounds like I wanna f**k him slow to me," June whispered, Damilola looked at her with her brows furrowed. "What?" She asked. "So you're gonna give him a chance?" June brushed and turned to her eagerly. "He seems nice, I might," she says. "I'm proud of you," June said, Damilola gawked at her, "Your happy, and mom is more excited that you are giving a man a chance in your life!" She continued. "So are you taking this gown?" "No, and I haven't showered," Dami said, she probably reeked, "and oh, how do I even go there?" She sighed. "You drive- oh, wait you can't!" June blinked, and looked at the time, "You know what, why don't I have Folarin come pick you up, I mean it's going to be easy!" June suggested it would only be suspicious if she said no. She looked at her and smiled, "Folarin?" She shook her head. "Yeah, my brother! That one, he is less busy, so I bet it won't be a problem" she replied. "Yeah, I know it won't" June wasn't lying, Folarin would take any opportunity to be with her. "That's settled! Good, I have to go! And once again I am proud of you!" June smiled. "Stop saying that" Dami chuckled. "I'm so proud you accepted a man in your life." Dami gave her a sideways glance. "Enough stop being dramatic, not like this is a forever s**t, and take your lip gloss when you're leaving!" She yelled. "Yeah, I almost forgot, but by the way, you're going to the bakery today right? You've some work to deal with, I left them on your table" June added. "The bakery?" She sighed, heavily. "Yeah, I will take a look," she said. "Alright, I will call Folarin and let him know!" June yelled and stormed out of the apartment. After that night, Dami didn't bother to call Folarin, she wouldn't be surprised if he declined, after her rude behaviour, which was she telling the truth. Damilola went to work and came back home alone, she thought about that party at work, having several conversations in her mind, and reaction to people, leaving her numb and unable to continue work, so she packed up, and headed home. She tried to take him off her mind, but she failed and one man bothered her even more. Dami's car was parked in the parking lot and she immediately got down and walked to the elevator leading to her place. "Damilola!" A beauty called- her neighbour. Dami turned back and waited for her until she got into the elevator, "I didn't know you were in town, but I see June," Beauty said, Damilola nodded with a fake smile, and quickly checked the time. She had an hour to prepare and leave. "I assumed, you're getting off work now?" She asked instead. "Yeah" she yawns, "What about June?" Beauty asked. "I don't know since when did my sister become your business?" Damilola asked. The elevator dinged open and Dami raised her gaze and looked at beauty who fell speechless. "Goodnight," she said, stepping out. Damilola paused and looked back until the elevator had closed. Dami looked at him, she didn't think, Folarin would show up after that night, but he stood in front of her apartment with a smile, a silly one again. "You know, you should give people a chance and stop being boring" He commented. "I didn't think you would come" she continued her way. "You're going on dates now, ain't you?" He raised his brows to her, Damilola walked past him and put in her passcode, "A nice pin" he said. She pulled the door open and walked in, Folarin followed behind, and the door shut. "Dami?" he held her back, his handsome face closed down, looking grim. "What?" she says furiously turning back at him. "Can we talk?" he softened. "About what?" She asked "About that night, I am sorry, I should have respected your decision," He said, Damilola nodded. "It's fine, I am not mad, anyways" She replied and dropped her bag on the couch. "You can have anything," "Dam" "I don't want to be late, I have to prepare, you came a little too early," "Doesn't it matter?" He replied, Folarin's eyes scanned her body, head to toe and she swallowed when his lustful eyes met hers. "Okay," she said and turned away. Thirty minutes later, Damilola came out in the green sleeveless gown, June had brought for her. And a long black heel, she had her hair packed backwards in a bun. While she adored herself with silver pieces of jewellery. She cleared her throat and rushed over to the back she had tossed minutes ago, to pick up her phone. Folarin looked back, stunned and unable to speak, his eyes scanned every part of her, Damilola was a milk chocolate skin tone and this colour blended so much with her skin. She had no makeup on, only nude lipstick. "What?" She asked, looking at him, he cleared his throat and looked away. "Nothing," he said. She understood the look he had on his face, but he was the last person she would ask if she looked good. "You look beautiful," he said, Damilola paused, and her eyes glided on the floor, lost for words, "You don't have to say anything if you don't want to" he added. "Did you bring your car?" She asked. "No, we are taking yours," he said, rolling the key between his fingers. She had no idea, where he had gotten the key from, but she took her phone and placed it in the black small purse she carried. "Here" she handed him the card.
