Arabella POV I smiled as I read the contents of the invitation card, it is a masquerade ball and knowing fully well how Alpha Zane is, he must have invited almost every Alpha and Luna to the coronation. "Yes of course, it is the perfect opportunity to meet and convince some Alphas, we must act very fast yet steady or I lose everything I have been trying to protect again," I explained with a serious look on my face. "You won't lose anything again Arabella, you would have the pack and everything goes back to normal like it has always been," she assured with hope in her eyes. "We have to make sure that the Alphas are to be trusted and will be on our side, I hope you understand what I mean," I queried my brows, tapping lightly on the desk. "Of course I do, we will make sure that they are to be trusted and will be on our side, no matter what!" she replied. "I think I should start with a few Alphas. I know a few of my father's friends who are trustworthy and once they know of the situation, they will understand and easily support us." "Do you mean Alpha Archer Armstrong?" she guessed. "Yes, not just him, there are a few of my father's friends who have been supportive and proved trustworthy until now," I pointed out, handing her a list of Alphas I had jotted down earlier. Alpha Theo Cullen of the silver lake pack, Alpha Ash Bailey of the crescent moon pack, Alpha Archer Armstrong of the Gold moon pack!” She read aloud and I slowly nodded. "Alpha Robert Euston?" I have no idea who this Alpha is, I have never heard of him. "Yes, he was one of my father's close friends who was also attacked by the rogues…" I paused and clenched my jaws tightly, I hated rogues to the core because of what happened thirteen years ago. "His Luna was killed brutally by the rogues and his pack suffered a great loss, so he relocated his pack to the states and he just returned home after thirteen years of being away and his pack has finally recovered. "Oh, I see, he will also be of great help if we have him on our side," she noted, dropping the list in her hands. "Of course, he will," I affirmed with a confident smile on my face. "I better get going before someone starts to suspect anything," she said, pulling back her chair and making her leave. "Of course you may leave, besides we have a party to remember," I immediately agreed. The last thing I want is to awaken the suspicion of the enemy. I would strike back the way they did in my past using the element of surprise. I slowly pushed back my chair and made towards the door a few minutes after Leslie left. As I walked down the hallway I bumped into someone I always avoided in the past, it was Jacques Mother, Grace, an elegant, proud and graceful woman who believed in old customs and laws, she never liked me in the first place and only stayed nice to me because of the late Alpha. At first she hated me because I shifted early at the age of thirteen instead of sixteen, saying history has never recorded such and I was a bad omen to the pack, and then another reason why she loathed me was because I was not Jacques fated mate and she strongly believed in the power of mate, saying it is wrong to deny the one and only person that the gracious moon goddess gifted to us. I bowed slightly and just as I thought I was about to escape her judgemental and pitiful stare, she decided to call out my name. “Arabella.” “Yes Gracie,” I responded, pausing in my tracks and clenching my fists. “I understand how you feel right now but you do realize that Jacques can't just reject his mate like that and especially in a time like this. Besides, procreation with his own mate will be much faster and easier!” She stated and I said nothing, I only rewarded her with silence. “Thank you for sharing your thoughts Gracie, now I must be on my way “Your ability to mask emotions or doing things without letting anything get to you is one of your masculine traits Arabella. I can't help but wonder how my son was able to cope with that for years!” She continued, from the looks of it, she looks determined to ruin my pleasant mood but she is angry at the fact that I am not letting her words get to me. “Gracie, a maid just mind linked me to come to the dressing room, I must be on my way, once again thank you for sharing your important thoughts,” I winked at her and she seethed her teeth knowing fully well that important is the exact opposite of what I meant. I clicked the door open expecting to see a stylist with a sample magazine for me to be able to select styles for me and the few maids to accompany us. But in my past life, the girl who I perfectly remember to be Lena Reyes had perfectly picked everyone's dress and of course except mine but basically she still dared to do my job for me. The stylist suggested a gown which I picked on the spot only to realize on the day of the event that we were both wearing the same dress and mine was the fake one. I can't imagine the anger and humiliation I went through that very day but fun fact is that I am never letting it happening again, never! “Luna Arabella,’ she yelled out excitedly. In my past life, I pushed her away and she met her ass in the ground making everyone criticize me but now I am going to embrace her…I am going to embrace the enemy. “I trust you are settling perfectly fine into my pack right?” I flashed her a fake smile and my cheeks hurt at that moment. ‘Oh my goodness, Luna is so warm and welcoming.’ ‘Look at the way she's embracing the rogue like one of her own.’ The maids whispered here and there and I smirked loving the outcome of the Convo already. “Yes I am thanks to your careful guidance. I hope you don't mind me selecting the dresses, I was just so excited to do that, it's my first time doing something that important you know,” she said and I only nodded with that fake smile on my lips. “Luna,” the stylist began and I responded knowing fully well that the exact same scene was happening over again. “I think I have found the perfect dress for you,” she pointed out, showing me a shimmering orange dress and I immediately smirked. It was the exact same dress that was presented to me in my past life; now it's being offered up to me on a platter. “I love it, you definitely know my style,” I flashed my signature fake smile before proceeding to leave the room. I don't think I can do that all day long…that s**t drained the mother f*****g energy out of me ~~~~ The grand ballroom of the masquerade was alive with glittering chandeliers, flowing gowns, and masks that concealed identities but not intentions like mine, is to make trusted allies and take back my pack and freedom. I slowly and yet carefully descended down the stairs. My crimson gown swept the stairs trailing right behind me like fire. A golden mask adorned my face and my mascara was as thick as ever. I could feel Alpha's turning to stare at him with lust, greed and admiration. That was my exact plan and trick, to be the Cleopatra in the room. From the corner of my eyes I saw Lena surprised look and her arms linked with Jacques who looked like he just saw a freaking ghost. He excused himself from Lena who immediately excused her with a smile but clenched her fists harshly the minute he's gone. He took long and intentional strides towards me and pulled me into a dark corner. “What do you think you are doing in Aspen? Snatching the attention of everybody in the ballroom? The music literally stopped when you came in? Is that all of your plan? What's the purpose behind this?” He whispered, trying to control his anger in front of the numerous crowds. “Nothing Jacques and you are right. I have a purpose and it is to let everyone know that I Arabella Stormhold vehemently refuse to be stepped on! I am still the pack Luna!” “You don't have to worry about that, Lena isn't after power, she's just after my peace and happiness!” “Is that what she told you? I am so disappointed in you Jacques for believing that?” I gave him a judgmental stare. “Now if you will excuse me because I have to mingle with the other Lunas.” I whispered in his ear since Lena has been staring at us the whole time before leaving. I can't erase the jealous look on her face and that seems to make my entire night. I went across the ballroom far away from Jacques and all the drama. I took a glass of wine and slowly sipped it to ease my worries when I suddenly noticed that the air of the room shifted. It was as if someone powerful was present amongst us. But I must be imagining it because the most powerful wolf in terms of power and hierarchy is the Alpha King and he rarely comes out and I barely recognize him since I have only stolen a glance at him once and that was many years ago. I took a few steps back trying to avoid a few Lunas that were in the room, trying to start a Convo with them will be wasting my time and I don't want that. I bumped into something hard and rigid and I felt the undeniable sparks and tingles shoot down my entire body. I slowly turned only to be graced with a handsome man in a sharp suit with the most piercing silver eyes ever. Since it's a masquerade ball, he donned on a simple black mast and that someone still made him stand out in the crowd. But there was something different that stood out in him…his powerful aura and all the warning bells in my brain appeared at that moment. “Mate!” He whispered, his raspy voice echoed in my ears and I went livid in his arms.
