Chapter 3

Arabella POV I heard footsteps approaching my office, I let out a little sigh when I noticed who the person is. It was Leslie, my best friend. We were friends since we were pups and grew inseparable over the years. Leslie is a hybrid, her mother was a witch and her father was a werewolf and a Beta to my father, they were both killed just like my parents during the attack. "Arabella!" she called as soon as she barged into the room, her silver hair bouncing as she walked. "What the hell did I just hear about the Alpha having a rogue mate!" I didn't miss the disgust on her face as she spoke. For the first time since all these years I was finally thankful that the office was sound proof. "Yes Leslie, you heard right! he met his mate…" I was interrupted before I could finish it. "And you accepted it, how could you do that?" her arms crossed as she demanded. "Yes, I did accept her because I have my reasons," I replied with a pleading look on my face, but heaven knows she wasn't buying it as I noticed her eyes turning red with fury. "Seriously? You let her stay, I thought I did understand you but not anymore, you and I both know that the only place she should be staying right now is the dungeon and undergoing a torture!" She fumed and I remained silent waiting for her to calm for a bit before speaking. "Believe me Leslie, I have tried doing that in the past but it isn't worth it, I got killed anyway but I am surely not going to let that happen again!" I vowed as I watched her looking at me dead panned. "What in the goddess name do you mean? killed? I don't understand?" Before she could lay her thousands of questions, I interrupted her. "Well Leslie, what I am trying to say is that I got killed by Jacques mate,it is a bit complicated, but if you could just sit down so I can explain everything." I motioned to the chair in front of me and watched as she took a sharp breath, her eyes changing back to normal and calmly settled down. "Done, well now if you could start with the part that you were killed by his rogue mate, I mean it doesn't make any sense," she exasperated. "This does make sense, I was dead and now alive fighting the killer of my past, the one who came and shattered my world, my people and my pack. Now the goddess decided to show me mercy by returning to the exact moment when my life was crumbling down,” I explained as I shut my eyes tightly to stop the tears threatening to spill. "Hey, I am sorry about that," she consoled as she grabbed my hands and locked it with hers. "I swear I am going to kill Jacques the next time I see him, how dare he betray you after all those things you have done for him, you were his Luna for the past six years and you have been one of the most amazing and strongest in history." "It's ok, besides what matters now is how to save my pack and also give them the taste of their sweet revenge," I said with a serious look on my face, I will not cry over spilt milk,I need to be strong. "Oh that should be simple, why not slip aconite in their foods and watch them writhe in pain as life leaves their eyes, " she said as a malicious grin plastered on her face. "Come on, we are not doing any of that, what's more important is how to split our packs so I can take back what's mine," I started watching her brows furrowed as she tapped on the mahogany desk. "That's the impossible Arabella, you and I both know that," she said. "But we can always make the impossible possible, right?" I whispered with hope. "Oh yes!" she shrieked before leaning forward. "What if we find your fated mate, you know that would make things easier…" or perhaps choose one?" she suggested. "Hell no, I don't need any mates, I don't need them, besides Jacques is my chosen mate, remember, and look what he did, he ditched me once he found his mate and broke the promise he made six years ago." "I understand that you are hurt, but believe me you still need your mate." "No buts, my decision is final,I don't need any mate," I said with finality in my voice. "You are saying this right now because you are hurt and you don't know the power of mate bond, believe me when you see him you will definitely forget about saying any of this," she gushed, her face flushed and gushed and grinning like someone under the influence of amortentia. "Leslie, I think I remember telling you that I don't need another man in my life. They are all the same traitors and cheaters and heartbreakers. Right now all I need is my pack and it's safe," I said with a stern look on my face. "Ok fine, I understand where you are coming from," she affirms and with the look on her face I knew she didn't fully agree. "Now to the main point, to divide the packs I need the Alpha king's seal and the approval of other Alpha's, the question is how I am supposed to do it," I started tapping my hands lightly on the desk. "In order to do that we need to start meeting with the Alphas and you know convincing them to be on our side and maybe we should start with going to the ball next week," she explains and I gave her a confused look as she fished through her pockets. 'Huh no, wrong pocket,' she muttered before moving to the left and bringing out a red envelope. She opened it before bringing out a golden invitation card with my name written on it. "I came earlier to give you this but you were not in your office, it's an invitation to Alpha Zane's son's coronation," she explained with a smirk on her lips.
