The Deadly Message

272 Words
The garden filled with students, drawn by Alex’s scream. Annie’s icy voice cut through the air. “Nice to see you’ve upgraded your hobby from potions to murder, Alex.” Alex shook her head. “No—no, I didn’t—” Principal Delcoix arrived, eyes narrowed. “This is not mundane,” she declared. “This was a vampire. Someone is sending a message.” Annie sneered. “Of course—she’s a traitor, just like her ancestors.” “Enough!” Delcoix barked. “Students, back to your rooms!” The crowd dispersed. Luna gave Alex a worried hug before leaving. Jesse lingered, his gaze soft. “Don’t let them get to you,” he murmured. Alex’s head spun. “Where’s Lucas?” Jesse shrugged. “Probably off brooding somewhere. He doesn’t handle crowds well.” Alex’s chest ached. She’d wanted Lucas here—needed him. But he’d left her alone. Delcoix’s voice turned serious. “We’ll investigate. In the meantime, you’re under watch.” Alex felt trapped, her world spinning out of control. After a tense silence, Jesse leaned in, brushing a kiss against her forehead. “Sleep well, love.” She watched him disappear into the shadows. Alone, she stumbled back to her room. A million questions burned in her mind. Why her? Why now? Behind the scenes, Lucas and Jesse clashed—old wounds surfacing. Secrets and prophecies threatened to unravel. Alex lay awake, haunted by the b****y message on the garden wall. “Traitor,” she whispered. “But I’m not—I swear.” She vowed to find answers—even if it killed her.
