Author Note: The Vampire Universe

Hi guys, just wanna clear some things about this universe I have written.

I kept getting messages about why Emanuel married Marcel and not Princess even though he came after their relationship. And also questions about why most of the vampires with Littles are finding partners and having sec with other people.

Hope this little chapter will help you understand the workings of this world in my head.

Even thought this is a d**g based book and I do write their relationship based on that, there are slight differences compared to human x human d**g relationships.

In real life, d**g relationships are often practiced among two monogamous individuals who are in a formal romantic relationship and sometimes can be married.

In this universe, humans are more like pets to the vampires. Imagine the way you would love and care for you pets, that is how they see humans. So no, vampires don't marry humans. They don't refer to them as 'partners' the way they would other vampires because they are not of the same level. Which is why some of the characters have partners that they marry but still have Littles. This doesn't mean they are having an affair or cheating. The Littles are additions to their lifestyles as wealthy elite vampires.

I imagine that in this world, vampires are at the top of the food chain. They are controlling the governments, businesses, entertainment, everything.

Humans are no longer at the top and are seen as even lower than red eyed vampires. So vampires have created a system where they can adopt these humans and keep them as companionships aka Littles.

Not all humans are Littles as they still get free will so only those who wish to, can apply to become one with the promise of a good life. Humans who aren't Littles are given small labour jobs or if some are qualified enough, they may get higher paying professions, kinda like Ben Dover, the guy who runs Lit Inc.

So yeah, Vampires do not marry their littles. They are caregivers for them. Yes, I do add in the s****l elements too because s****l rewards are common in d**g.

I did think that there could be a possibility of a red eyed vampire and a human to have some sort of relationship outside of a d**g one, but I can't imagine the Elites ever considering that since they have a much different view on status.

Elites marrying a red eyed vampire is the furthest they will go as a partner (like Emanuel and Marcel) and even then, it doesn't happen often.

Yes I know it is an elitist viewpoint but this book is based around ELITE vampires who are wealthy and snobbish. So of course, there will be elitism in this society.
