The Past

“Move away from my path or I would move you” Luna Lyra said boldly to Ciara, her voice loud and calm enough at the same time, to show Ciara she meant every word that she voiced out.

“You are just an empty bag that makes the loudest sound” Ciara said trying to maintain her ground and exchange words with Luna Lyra.

“Really?? Stick around and we would find out who really is the empty bag” Luna Lyra said with her left eyebrow raised and a little smirk on her lips.

“I would really stick around to find out…but you?? I can't say the same for you…You would get what's coming for you and trust me, it's not gonna be pleasant” Ciara warned.

“If you are brave enough come for me but be prepared to get your hands chopped off” Luna Lyra threatened strongly while maintaining close eye contact with Ciara.

“He keeps me warm at night and every other time I need him” Ciara said with so much boldness that could make fourty thieves surrender.

“Sure he does…I got tried of his warmth that's why I passed him down to you and darling you are so good with second hand things” Luna Lyra said with a Short laugh that immediately increased Ciara's anger.

“How come you don't get the memo yet? Leave Alpha Lucan and the pack alone and go far away from here, he's married to me now so i am the new Luna now, stop parading in your old glory” Ciara shot aggressively at Luna Lyra who was so calm with a smirk playing gracefully at the corner of her lips as she watched ciara fume with annoyance and frustration.

“I am Lyra, Luna of the Dragonstone werewolf pack and mate to Alpha Lucan second of his name, there's nothing you or anyone can do about it…now step away from my part you silly creature” Luna Lyra said as she pushed Ciara forcefully from her path and headed straight for the council meeting.

“We may begin” Alpha Lucan commanded strongly in his wolf Vix voice, his voice exposing the fact that he wasn't ready to be patient as the council of elders of Dragonstone were all already present.

“Uhmm sire…we need Luna Lyra to be present in this meeting as it concerns the welfare of all our pack members” Beta Daevon replied calmly trying to make Alpha Lucan see reasons and permit the meeting to be put on hold until Luna Lyra arrives.

“She would be arriving soon so start the meeting” he demanded sharply, his voice very firm with no hint of patience.

Immediately Luna Lyra came inside the meeting room hurriedly, murmuring apologies for coming late as she quickly sat down close to her husband Alpha Lucan who didn't forget to give her a scornful look that she didn't notice.

“Now we're all complete let's commence the meeting” Beta Daevon said as he stood up to narrate the issue on ground.

“We all know that yearly Dragonstone werewolf realm gives a certain amount of coal to the East werewolf council…now recently there have been a decline in the number of omega werewolves digging out the coal and the number of omega werewolves remaining can't mine the amount of coal targeted to be submitted to the East werewolf council…the deadline of when to submit this coal is at the corner and we don't have the manpower to carry out the task, so what do we do? Beta Daevon concluded as he sat down waiting for a response from everyone present in the meeting room.

“How many omega werewolves do we have currently in Dragonstone?” Gamma Aiden finally asked aloud after a brief silence.

“Just sixty-two omega werewolves excluding the female Omega werewolves and their kids” Beta Daevon replied Gamma Aiden almost immediately.

“And what's the target…the amount of coal to be submitted to the East werewolf council is what?” Luna Lyra asked feeling so surprised at the amount of omega werewolves that were currently in Dragonstone which was so small compared to the last time she conducted a headcount of all the Dragonstone realm pack members.

“50,000 bags of coal”Beta Daevon announced clearly.

“Goddess have mercy!! You mean my people have been doing this strenuous task everyday? All for what??” Luna Lyra asked annoyed in her wolf Arya's voice.

“Please calm down my Luna…let's all look for a way out” Alpha Lucan finally voiced out as he held Lyra's hands in a bit to calm her out with no trace of genuine concern for her in his heart.

“We're so sorry Luna Lyra…it was not always like this, as their number started dropping we couldn't stop the ongoing task as we had a deadline to meet” Beta Daevon explained remorsefully in a humble tone.

“Aiden…as the Gamma and Warrior of our pack, how many warriors do you have trained and skilled?” Luna Lyra asked Gamma Aiden as he immediately opened his mouth to respond to her questions, nobody would want to upset the queen than she already is.

“800,000 skilled and trained warriors and more 900,000 warriors still in training” Gamma Aiden answered Immediately, giving a clear narration.

“First thing tomorrow morning assemble all your werewolf warriors both those still in training and the other trained warriors…head to the coal mining site immediately and help the omega werewolves out, infact you and your warriors should take over the mining activity and encourage the omega werewolves to rest” Luna Lyra instructed in clear words as Gamma Aiden bowed in agreement to carry out all the Luna has instructed.

“Beta Daevon send words to the council stating in clear terms that we would not be able to submit these high amount of coal next year due to lack of manpower” Luna Lyra concluded firmly as she looked at her husband to know if he's okay with all of her decisions.

“Beta Daevon and Gamma Aiden do exactly all our Luna has instructed” Alpha Lucan said with detest written boldly in his heart for Luna Lyra.

“With that been said…I believe this is the end of the meeting?”Alpha Lucan asked feeling so uncomfortable and in a haste to leave the meeting room.

“Yes sire…Luna Lyra made everything easy, she's the best that ever was…” Beta Daevon praised Luna Lyra as it made Alpha Lucan to boil in anger the more.

“Thank you Beta Daevon but it's all the moon goddess's doing” Lyra said with a bright smile.

“I'm off to the widow's banquet…I have to quickly rush to tie up a few loose knots” Luna Lyra said to her husband who gave her a fake smile in response as she left the meeting room in a haste.

“Where are the files that were sent from the East werewolf council” Alpha Lucan roared angrily as he looked at Beta Daevon with eyes filled with annoyance in his office.

“Sire, when the files arrived you were indisposed and it needed immediate response as I was supposed to mail it back to the council that same day so I gave it to Luna Lyra to go through it and sign it” Beta Daevon replied calmly trying to make Alpha Lucan see reasons with him.

“What do you see in her?” Alpha Lucan asked calmly after some minutes of silence out of nowhere much to the bewilderment of Beta Daevon who didn't see the question coming.

“Sire….I don't understand sire…” Beta Daevon stuttered confused on what to answer.

“Luna Lyra…is she a better leader than me?” he asked further raising his brows up and gesturing for immediate response.

“No sire… you are and would forever be the Alpha of our pack and realm” Beta Daevon said convincingly.

“Admit it, you and the rest of the pack members want to badly make her Alpha… ever since I took a second wife I suspect she has been plotting against me, she loathes me for remarrying, so that's why she wants to take my pack little by little till she has won y'all hearts…but I see through her, I see through her deceptive ways” Alpha Lucan said boldly looking into the eyes of Beta Daevon observing his body reactions to the confrontation.

“Sire there's nothing of the sort, she's a good Luna who would stand by your side come full moon or half moon” Beta Daevon said strongly not mincing words as he looked back at Alpha Lucan in the eyes.

“Leave my presence” Alpha Lucan commanded harshly still of the opinion that they were all conniving to take him out as the Alpha and replace him with Luna Lyra as the new Alpha…but never in the name of the goddess would he let that happen, he and only him would rule no one else talk more a mere human.

“Who is it?” Luna Lyra asked aloud as she struggles to unzip her dress in her room.

“It's me” Alpha Lucan said in a deep voice as Lyra immediately recognizes her husband's voice and quickly opens the door.The last time he was here was the first and only time they consummated their marriage and she turned into a werewolf after that night, other nights has been with his new wife, which she cared less about… performing her Luna duties has kept her really busy. What could have brought him here…?? she thought to herself.

“It's getting dark…you should be in your chambers having your bath” Lyra said looking at her husband asking for explanations with her eyes.

“Let's take a stroll” he said, his voice not pushy or commanding but final.

“Okay…lemme change into something comfortable” Lyra said still surprised at what was happening.

“I would wait, right here” he said firmly giving no room for resistance or refusal.

“Okay suit yourself” Lyra replied as she undressed in front of her husband who didn't blink an eye lid, he looked at her with eyes void of emotions, she really couldn't pin what it was but something was not right but there again this is her husband so she's safe.

They both headed into the woods that cold evening with no guards or swords for protection and it was indeed a wonderful evening for Lyra as Alpha Lucan was just cracking jokes and telling her stories, she didn't want the night to end.He took her to the deepest part of the woods and she didn't refuse or hesitate because she loved every minute with him not until they climbed up a cliff.

“Can we do something fun?” Alpha Lucan asked Lyra as she was still giggling from the previous joke he had told her.

“ Yes, anything dear” Lyra said affectionately smiling from ear to ear.

“Let's shift into our werewolf form and howl at this cliff end to see the most powerful wolf howl between the two of us, you go first and I would go next” Alpha Lucan said to the hearing of the excited Lyra who happily agreed with eagerness to shift into her werewolf form and have fun.

The moon was at it's peak that night as it shone brightly upon the trees and leaves in the woods. Luna Lyra starts to shift into her werewolf form as her light evening gown rips apart to reveal her sliver wolf Arya with emerald eyes, she immediately heads for the cliff and howls as the woods shook powerfully at the sound of her howl, just as she was about to howl for the second time, two strong unsuspecting hands pushed her from the back and she fell from the cliff.

“Sire!!!! Sire!! What happened?” Beta Daevon asked in panic as he sees Alpha Lucan coming back to the mansion alone with his body covered in blood and wounds, his face swollen and accomplained with a sad expression.

“We were attacked by some rogue werewolves, they were so many that I couldn't fight them all…they pushed our Luna down the cliff and left me with bruises so I could feel the pain of losing my mate” Alpha Lucan narrated heartbroken.

“Ohh goddess!! Why do you let these things befall us??” Beta Daevon asked rhetorically as he wailed for Luna Lyra's death.

“Quickly send our pack warriors to check the woods for the body of Luna Lyra and those wrechted rogue werewolves they couldn't have gotten far” Alpha Lucan commanded still feeling so heartbroken.

“Yes sire…right away sire” Beta Daevon said still griving at the news he just heard.

The next day everyone was present at the pack house crying and griving for Luna Lyra's death especially Ciara who wailed till she couldn't tear up any longer.

“Who could have done this wicked thing” ciara shouted as she rolled on the floor while an omega werewolf tried to console her.

“Death should have taken me instead, our Luna was too good to go this way” ciara continued as she questioned death further.

“Ma'am please calm down, you need to be strong for her, she wouldn't want to see you this way…” Lori, one of the omega werewolves holding ciara blurted out.

“You are right…I'm trying to be strong, I'm trying so hard” ciara said shedding more tears as Alpha Lucan walked to the center of the pack house to give a sad speech.

“ Good day all…it's really so sad that we lost a precious gem, she was a leader, an inspiration, a mother, a sister and a wife to us all. We have lost our Luna to the cold fingers of death…i promise you all to bring those rogue werewolves that attacked us to justice…I would not rest or relent till they are brought to me on their knees and killed immediately and I also assure you all that our Luna's body would be found soon so we could give her a queen’s burial. Let's all console ourselves and be strong so we could continue to be the strong werewolf pack that she created…may the moon goddess guide us all” Alpha Lucan concluded encouragingly.

“You killed her… right?” Ciara said as she barged inside the room she and her husband Alpha Lucan shares, her voice clear enough to know she wasn't asking a question but was confronting him.

“What's it to you?” Alpha Lucan asked Ciara plainly.

“I obviously don't care, what matters is that she's out of the way which makes me the one and only Luna of our pack” Ciara blurted out without any atom of human empathy for the dead.

“I warned her tho…as if I knew you were planning on killing her soon, when you told me about how you felt your position threatened i didn't know you would get the deed done so soon. Sooo sad her loving husband that she still believed would come back to her sent her to her Early demise” Ciara said laughing so loud as she continued blabbing as she sat down on the bed with her legs crossed.

“Watch your mouth woman…I didn't tell you that I killed Lyra”Alpha Lucan shouted angrily.

“Either way…she's out of the picture now, the pack is all yours to rule now and I am officially the one and only Luna”ciara said happily smiling with so much enthusiasm.

Who really killed Luna Lyra, was it really Alpha Lucan or someone else?

Would she have compassion on her beloved former pack and not destroy them too in her quest for revenge?
