Chapter 1
Isabella Moriarty gazed at her reflection in the mirror, her slender fingers gently brushing over the snow-white wedding gown. The mirror reflected a stunning face—golden hair cascading down like a waterfall, blue eyes as calm as a still pond, and features so exquisite they seemed crafted by the hand of God. A small beauty mark beneath her eye added an extra touch of allure. Isabella took a deep breath, a trace of anticipation and unease flashing through her eyes. "Today, I must amaze Murat," she whispered, a confident smile curling her lips. She lightly smoothed an imaginary wrinkle on her gown, took another deep breath, and pushed open the doors to the grand ballroom. However, as she stepped into the brightly lit hall, all her expectations shattered like glass. Murat Asad's deep blue-gray eyes swept over her coldly, as though she were nothing more than an insignificant decoration. There was no amazement, no admiration, not even a perfunctory smile. A sharp pain stabbed at Isabella's heart, but she forced herself to maintain her smile and elegantly walked toward Murat. Just then, a shrill phone ringtone broke the hall's silence. Murat frowned, glanced at his phone, and answered the call. Isabella watched as his expression gradually darkened, and the unease in her heart grew stronger. She tried to get closer to hear what was being said on the other end, but Murat turned and walked away. All Isabella could do was stand there, anxiously waiting. A few minutes later, Murat hung up and turned to Isabella. His gaze was as cold as ice, and his lips were tightly pressed together. "The engagement is off," he said coldly, his voice devoid of any warmth. It felt like Isabella's world collapsed in that instant. "Why?" she asked, her voice trembling, tears welling in her eyes. Murat didn’t answer, he just turned and walked away, leaving behind a cold, indifferent figure. Isabella stood frozen in place, feeling like a discarded doll. Her mind went blank, unable to comprehend what had just happened. At that moment, her phone buzzed, pulling her back to reality. It was a message from Rebecca de Vaal: "Poor Isabella, it seems you've completely failed in this relationship." Isabella’s fingers trembled, barely able to hold the phone. She took a deep breath, holding back her tears, and sent Murat a brief breakup text before resolutely blocking him. "Enough," she murmured, her voice filled with a newfound determination. "This farce ends now." Isabella marched toward her room, the sharp clicks of her high heels echoing against the marble floor. She quickly packed her belongings, determined to leave this suffocating place immediately. Yet, it seemed fate wasn’t done delivering its final blow. At the elevator, she ran into Murat's cousin, Nicholas, and his pack of cronies. Nicholas had always disliked Isabella, and at this moment, seeing her in such a disheveled state, a hint of schadenfreude flickered in his eyes. "Well, isn’t it the pitiful Isabella?" Nicholas grinned and mockingly posed as if interviewing her. "How does it feel to be dumped like a rat?" His friends roared with laughter, as though watching an entertaining play. Isabella glared at them coldly, her long-suppressed anger finally erupting. With a sharp sneer, she retorted, "Pitiful? Not as pitiful as you—after all, you don’t even know who your mother is, do you, you little bastard?" Nicholas’s face instantly darkened, and he raised his hand to slap her. But Isabella swiftly dodged and delivered a flawless spinning kick that sent him tumbling to the ground. "You dare hit me? I’ll tell Murat!" Nicholas shouted, clutching his stomach, furious. His friends were no longer laughing, now stunned by the sudden outburst from the woman before them. "Do as you please," Isabella snorted coldly. "I've already cut ties with him. And as for you, you dog, I won’t tolerate you any longer either." Her eyes burned with a fierce fire, causing Nicholas to instinctively take a step back. Nicholas struggled to his feet, glaring at her viciously. "Stop right there! Kneel down and apologize, and maybe I’ll convince Murat to change his mind!" His words dripped with threat, but Isabella no longer felt fear. She halted, turned to face the phones recording her, her gaze unwavering and bright. Everyone held their breath, waiting for her response. "I, Isabella Moriarty, swear this now," her voice was clear and powerful, echoing through the entire hall. "My relationship with Murat Asad ends here. In this lifetime, I will never marry him. If I break this vow, may he die a miserable death!" Her declaration resounded throughout the hall, shocking everyone with her resolute finality. Without a backward glance, Isabella stepped into the elevator, leaving Nicholas and his friends dumbfounded.
