Dinner

Arianna pov Life was starting to go well for Ari, things were going well for her kids in the school. Declan had a few tantrums, but he was finally started to settle in well. Lili was doing well as was Rory. Ari finally got their pattern down, which made getting to work easier. The pattern made life easier in general, especially for Declan. Oliver finally admitted to her that he was seeing some one. His secretary. Arianna wasn’t bothered by this fact in the slightest. Arianna wanted to warn him about the messiness of dating somebody that you worked with. But that wasn’t her problem any longer. Her only issue was Arianna didn’t want Oliver introducing this woman to the kids until it was serious. She also wanted to meet the woman first. That may seem weird, but Ari’s relationship with her ex wasn’t normal. It wasn’t when you had a child with autism, and your ex was a good father. This weekend was a wildcard. Lachlan needed her to work. Lachlan was having some at home party for some clients. Arianna worked for Lachlan close to three months now, and still wasn’t sure what that man did to make his fortune. To be honest she still wasn’t one hundred percent convinced it wasn’t a cult. Arianna knew the dinner was a big deal for Lachlan because he called her in for a meeting. Lachlan asked her if she was up for catering to fifteen people. They had discussed what he was expecting out of the dinner, and then discussed possible dinner options. Arianna was confident she could pull it off on her own. Arianna and Oliver throughout most of their relationship had little to no money. So their date nights were romantic at home dinners made by both of them when the kids went to bed. Arianna told Lachlan she would take care of everything, she just needed some one to cook the steaks he requested, and Lachlan agreed that should be no problem. Arianna went shopping immediately. It was Wednesday she only had until Saturday to put this all together. Ari called Oliver first thing to let him know he was taking the kids this weekend. Oliver in fact took the kids most weekends so he didn’t argue. Arianna went to hyvee and bought them out of their Ribeye and filet minion wrapped in bacon steaks. She also bought out the asparagus wrapped in bacon. She considered other vegetables, but she noticed working for Lachlan that the men didn’t really didn’t eat vegetables. The women however did. Arianna decided she would serve a salad course for the women, she thought about soup but was nixed by Lachlan. Lachlan asked for steaks as well as potatoes side dish. As Arianna was waiting for the steaks to be wrapped up she debated on whether to order their twice baked potatoes as they were so delicious. However, she came up with something better. She found a recipe on f*******: that she made a few months back that everyone ate like crazy. Hopefully everyone would react the same way. Arianna debated for a moment and got the ingredients. Arianna got her steak, salad, potatoes, vegetables, bread, now all she needs to do is think on a desert. Lachlan told her just to buy one from Victoria’s bakery. Pft yeah right. What he doesn’t know is Arianna makes her kids birthday cakes every year. Saturday finally came, Oliver took the kids last night. Arianna drove to the house, and started getting everything ready. The hardest thing about making these type of dinners, was the timing. Everything had to be timed just right or it would all be ruined. As the people started trickling in all day, Arianna looked at the dress she brought with her that Lachlan demanded she wear. Arianna was confused as to why she needed a dress, but she complied with his demand. The girls were peeking through the double doors whispering about the people arriving. Arianna decided to put in her headphones and blast some music. It was two and half hours until the dinner so she needed to decorate the cakes. She made one chocolate and one vanilla. The secret to a great cake was the decoration and adding vanilla. Also patience. Arianna didn’t have the best patience which is why she blasted her music. Arianna got started as she scooped out the first layer and put it on her newly bought cake stand. The last time she make this cake it was too heavy for the cake stand and toppled half way through cutting it she learned her lesson. Arianna was icing the cake as she was lowly singing Shinedown’s new song “Daylight.” Ari was obsessed with the song ever since the premiered it at their concert she went to back in April. She even got Rory singing it. The cake was finally decorated and she got to do the fun part, adding the candy. Arianna surrounded the outside with KitKats, then topped it with mini M&M’s. Then to make sure it stayed together she tied it tightly with string. “Perfect,” Ari said. “That cake is beautiful Ari,” Ariel said. Ari looked to the girl next to her and smiled. “Thank you, it’s always been a big hit. Sadly the vanilla one isn’t as pretty.” Ari washed her hands then started her music again. She checked the time and quickly started on the vanilla cake. “Hey Brie could you please shreds that white chocolate bar please?” Arianna asked as she was running out of time. “Yes Arianna, how much do you need?” Brie asked. “A lot, I plan on covering the cake.” Brie nodded and got to work. The cake was quickly finished and topped with the white chocolate shavings. Lachlan came walking in the door. Arianna almost drooled at her boss in his three piece suit. Damn did the man look fine. “How’s it coming? Is that what you are wearing?” He quickly snapped her out of the trance. Arianna shook her head. “No I just have to change. I didn’t want to get anything on my dress.” Lachlan nodded absently. “Okay, dinner in an hour.” Arianna finished things up and then at the forty five minute mark out in the potatoes. Arianna grabbed her dress, “Okay guys I think everything is as ready as can be. Let’s go ahead and get changed.” Arianna’s dress was a black tiered flair dress, it was gorgeous and flattered her body. However, it was a spaghetti strap dress so she brought a pink shrug to add some professionalism to the dress. Arianna quickly changed and headed out to check whoever was manning the grill. Arianna was in the final stretch, she just hoped she didn’t screw up now. . Lachlan pov Lachlan was so nervous. He didn’t care about the alpha’s that had been showing up for the past couple of hours. He was stronger than all of them. They came here to kiss his ass and beg him for money. Lachlan was worried for his Luna. Whether she knew it or not this was her first introduction to other wolf’s as his mate. Once he told her about the party she was confident that she could do it herself and without a caterer. Lachlan had no issues hiring a caterer, it was a drop in the bucket for him. Lachlan only asked to see what her response would be. “Mate should be by our side,” his wolf told him. “I know, I screwed up!” He told his wolf irritably. “I want her out here, with me!” His wolf told him. “Me too,” “So alpha where is this Luna of yours?” Alpha Norris asked snidely. He’s pissed because Lachlan found his second chance mate and he hasn’t yet. “She is in the kitchen preparing the meals. She’s a very hands on Luna.” Once Arianna walked through the door his breath caught. She was stunning. Until this point she had come to work so she had always worn pants and T-shirts. Seeing her in a dress was absolutely mind blowing. Lachlan felt his pants tighten against his growing c**k. “Dinner is ready to serve sir,” Arianna said lowly as she approached him. Hearing his mate call him sir made his pants tighten even further. Once the main meal is served Arianna has come out to sit next down next to me right where she should be. Everyone is cutting into their simple but delicious meal. “Oh this potatoes are delicious! Where did you get the recipe Luna?” One of the woman chimes in. “Oh I must have the recipe for the potatoes, and what did you do to the steak?” “Oh it’s just salt,” Ari responds. “What?” Everyone asks her. Ari blushes and responds “People think cooking is harder than it really is. The simples things can make it taste amazing. For the steak I put salt and put some butter on it. The potatoes are a simple recipe as well.” Arianna stated. That’s the way the entire meal went. Lachlan couldn’t be more proud of his mate. His wolf was rumbling in his chest. Dinner was wrapping and the omegas were taking the plates. “Do you want me to bring out the cakes Arianna?” Ariel asked. “No I will do it,” Ari said and stood up and let the room. “How dare you talk to your Luna like that trash omega!” Alpha Norris said furiously. Lachlan saw red, he stood up so fast the chair toppled backward. “How dare you talk to my pack members that way. Ariel is allowed to talk to my Luna in the way my mate wishes.” Lachlan growled which caused Ariel to submit to him. “I apologize Ariel.” Lachlan said sincerely and Ariel gave him a smile while continually clearing the dishes. There were some alphas and Luna’s that were silent but others thanked the girl. Lachlan took note of them, as the ones who were kind to his pack he were more likely to do business with. Finally his mate and Brie came out of the double doors each with a beautiful looking cake in hand. “Oh Arianna those are beautiful looking cakes,” one of the Luna’s gushes coming to look at them. “Thank you,” Ari replied and started cutting up the cakes. “What bakery did you use, I must have these cakes for my next event,” a different Luna stated. Lachlan noticed it was one of the ones he liked. “I made it myself.” Lachlan was surprised at that, he thought she bought it from Vicky’s place. . The dinner was a big success Lachlan thought. He gave his card out to a select few, and he saw them off his territory. Lachlan came back into the kitchen to see his mate still cleaning up with the omegas. “You can go home now, I know you have kids waiting for you,” he told Ari. Arianna shook her head, “The kids are with their father tonight,” Arianna responded. Lachlan was intrigued, “Want to have a drink with me?” Arianna turned to him, he could see the indecision in her eyes. “Just to celebrate your big success. Dinner was amazing!” Arianna looked down for a moment, then looked back up at him. Fuck! He loved her shyness. “Okay,” Ari said softly.
