Ghosting

Lachlan pov Shit. He was in deep s**t. Lachlan looked up ghosting and apparently the internet version is ‘cutting contact with a person, usually a former romantic partner, without any explanation.’ That’s when he realized that having s*x with his mate, then leaving for a week, and not texting her back might qualify as ‘ghosting.’ Lachlan watched her from afar for the rest of the day and she didn’t seem to be in a bad mood, but the second he walked into the room she tensed up. The tensing was brief, but it happened. Double s**t. He had taken to watching her from across the room without her knowledge like a stalker. Lachlan had no idea how to fix the giant hole he was in and honestly he had no idea why he didn’t text her when he was gone. His wolf Thor has cried for her the whole time. Lachlan started to write a hundred different texts, but they all seemed wrong. Lachlan knew her kids were sick, but didn’t know how to be encouraging as he had never dealt with a sick kid before. He thought he might be intruding. Then by Tuesday it seemed too long and he figured it would be best to wait until he was back at the pack house. If only his mate wasn’t human and could feel the pull of the mate bond. “Mate perfect, human stupid,” Thor informed him. Lachlan sighed and stalked away. Lachlan distracted himself the first day back by trying to get lost in his emails as he had hundreds to get caught up on. While he was gone he only responded to certain emails and let everything else fall to the wayside. It seems he was paying for that now. When his phone vibrated Lachlan jumped on it hoping it was her. It was her!! Thor started purring in his head. Mate: the kids have an early dismissal day today, I will use my lunch to go get them, but it will still take more than an hour to go get them. I will make up everything. Lachlan frowned at the message, didn’t he tell her that she didn’t have to worry about that? He almost sent a message telling her not to come back today, but Thor whined at that thought. They both wanted to see his new pups and have wanted to meet them for awhile. Aiden also had been wanting to meet her kids as she constantly talked about them. One of the many reasons he was falling in love with her is that Lachlan could tell she was an amazing mother. He quickly texted back that whatever she decided to do he was fine with. Lachlan tried to get back to work, but he was too excited at the prospect of seeing the pups. Arianna pov She was finishing up with work when she got a call from Oliver. “Hey Ollie, what’s up?” She greeted him not breaking on finishing cleaning. She needed to bust ass otherwise she would be late picking up the kids. “Hey I have a favor to ask?” Ollie stated and she knew it would involve the kids. “I know it’s your weekend, but can I take the kids this Saturday?” “How come?” She asked. This wasn’t the first time and it didn’t bother her. Arianna never kept the kids from their father, but Oliver had been acting strange. “It’s a company picnic and it will look good on my bosses if I bring the kids,” Oliver explained. Arianna shrugged, “Sure we will go, Declan-“ “No.” Oliver cut her off. “Just the kids.” His tone was serious and Arianna sighed, “I’m assuming so your girlfriend doesn’t get the wrong idea?” “Ari-“ Oliver started and she didn’t want to hear the excuses. “No Oliver we had a deal and you are going back on it. I don’t care that you are seeing you assistant.” “How did you?” Oliver started to ask but she cut him off again. “I care that you are bringing her around our kids after you explicitly promised you wouldn’t until it was serious. But I shouldn’t be surprised after what you did.” “Ari-“ Ariana switched gears once again, “Also you won’t be able to handle three kids on your own without me, you never have been able to, if you want to try now then do call me to come bail you out.” “So you will let them come?” Oliver asked completely clueless. Arianna let out a sigh, “When have I ever kept your kids from you Oliver? Once again don’t call me when you embarrass yourself.” Arianna hung up and turned around seeing Lachlan standing there staring at her. Lovely. “Arianna,” he started and she just walked off. “No,” she muttered to herself. She couldn’t deal with him today. Ari heard a growl from somewhere but ignored it. She checked the time and she had to leave to go pick up the kids from school. Today was only a half a day of school so it was going to be a nightmare for her. She had to use her lunch break to go pick up the kids from school and bring them back to the house. Then try and work while keeping her demon spawn caroused while making up the extra hour she missed going to pick up the kids. Arianna hated early dismal days, but she was sure that every parent did as well. The kids got out of the car and she repeated the rules one more time. “No running! Do not break anything!” She walked in the front door ignoring the staring people. “Please sit down and watch tv or play on your tablets while I finish my work,” she stated already knowing her children will not listen to a word she is saying. “Mommy I’m hungry!” Rory stated. “Hungry,” Lili echoed and Arianna sighed as she walked into the kitchen. Ariel, Brie, and Lindsey were all in the kitchen cleaning up from lunch. She quickly drew attention from several people, especially the girls that started to fuss over the kids. “Are these your kids? Look how cute they are?” Ariel stated. Brie and Lindsey mirrored that effect and the girls soaked up their attention. While Declan clung to me, the one thing that didn’t fit his autism diagnosis was that he was always affectionate with me and his father. Aiden came tearing into the kitchen and immediately Rory was enamored with her bosses little boy. She was always such a social butterfly and watched as the two of them talked. Declan seeing the two of them came out and walked up to them. Arianna took the moment to walk to the kitchen counter to get some of the left over cookies the girls had made. She made the batter yesterday and the girls made it. Arianna grabbed four glasses and some paper towels. She turned around to see Lachlan along with everyone else staring at the kids. The love in his eyes for his son warmed her heart. “All right kids go sit at the table for a snack,” she declared and pointed in the direction of the table. “Can I have a snack?” Aiden asked as her kids went to the table, they didn’t fight her when it came time for a snack. Ari bent down and smiled, “Of course you can sweet heart.” Aiden squealed with laughter and quickly sat next to Rory on the small kitchen table. Arianna quickly placed two cookies in front of each child and s small glass of milk. Arianna went to start preparing dinner and saw out of the corner of her eye Lachlan sitting with the kids. “Lasagna again?” Brie asked her. “It was requested that I make lasagna one night a week,” Arianna stated. “Are the muffins made for tomorrow?” She asked Brie, who nodded. “The laundry finished?” Ari asked Lindsey. The girls nodded as they fawned all over the kids. “Should I not have come back?” Ari asked herself in a small voice. “I thought you knew you didn’t have to, but I’m glad you did. We’ve been wanting to meet your munchins for awhile,” Lachlan said in a way that made her p***y clench. Arianna looked at him and she swore she saw his eyes flash black again. It must be a trick of the light. She went back to preparing dinner as that look made her think of their time in bed together. ‘He’s not interested in you Arianna, he made that perfectly clear when he ghosted you,’ she told herself. She was moving right along when she felt Rory come up next to her, “Done with your snack?” She asked and Rory exaggeratedly bobbed her head yes. Ari quickly scooped her up and plopped her down on the cabinet. “You want to watch?” She asked and booped her on the nose with her sticky hands. Rory giggled and nodded again. “I want to watch?” Aiden cried coming up to her and so Ari sat him next to her daughter and went back to working. “No fighting now or you will have to get down.” They both nodded solemnly as she talked about how to make good lasagna to kids. They were interested for about two minutes before they started wiggling and Aria put them down and they took off. Ari’s other two were still at the table, just happily sitting there. “Ariel the kids have tablets in their book bags would you get them for me please?” She asked. “Sure, I’ll put them in the couch in the living room,” Ariel said as she ushered them off. … Arianna was done about an hour later, she had several other things to do. She had Lili and Declan in her sights the entire time. It was Rory she was worried about. When she asked the girls about them, they said Mr. Anderson is taking care of them. “Okay kiddos it’s time to go,” Arianna announced and like normal no one listened to her. “Do you know where Rory is?” She asked Ariel. “She’s played with Aiden in his room,” Ariel responded. Arianna went upstairs to Aiden’s room and came upon the sight of Lachlan playing with Rory and Aiden. While it pleased her, it also pissed her off. Why didn’t Lachlan pay attention to any other of her children? “Come on Rory it’s time to go home,” Ari stated. “I don’t wanna go!” Rory said and she knew it was going to be a start of a fit. “Dad is coming to pick you up tonight,” Ari said and her daughter squealed in delight. “Daddy!!!” Rory quickly gave Aiden a hug and went downstairs. “Good bye Aiden and Mr. Anderson, I’ll see you Monday.” “Bye!” Aiden told her with a small pout and Lachlan didn’t say a word at all.
